Similar images already submitted!!!

Participant ,
Mar 31, 2025 Mar 31, 2025

Hello there,

I went from a 95% acceptance rate to 20% or less. Almost all of my submissions are being rejected for the "similar image" reason.

The quality of the images is really good and doesn’t have any issues.

I am uploading at most 2 or 3 variations of each object ,PNGs only and a variety of different items across many categories. I also make sure not to upload similar content that I’ve previously submitted. I am 100% certain that my entire account doesn’t have more than three variations of any given item.

Sometimes, I upload the same object in different styles.

for example, a car in a 3D style and another version in watercolor or clay, so they are still distinct. (2 to 3 variations for each style)

Is this a general issue that will be resolved soon, or is it only affecting me?

Yes, it affects your contributions in that they aren't made available for sale.

It is believed that "similar images" also refers to other similar images throughout the database from other Contributors.

It's not just you.

Others are seeing "similar" rejections, too.

I received a response in a day. But again, it was copperplate standard text. Point is to just let them know what's going on, since Adobe doesn't always check out some of the forums.

A number of contributors are having assets rejected for being too similar when in fact they are not. We don't know why. Our only option is to wait things out until the situatioin is explained or fixed. Some have ceased to submit new assets in the meantime.

I am writing to seek clarification regarding repeated rejections of my image submissions due to the reason: “Similar Image(s) Already Submitted.” I take great care to ensure that each image I upload is unique and not a duplicate or minor variation of any previous submission. All my images are original and non-copyrighted.

Despite this, I consistently receive the same rejection message. I would appreciate any specific feedback or guidance on how to better meet the criteria and avoid this issue going forward.

Thank you for your time and support

You and everyone else. 🙂 It's a common problem for a number of contributors right now, and the most we can do is grin and bear it while doing our best to provide unique content. Read the top paragraph.

I sent some examples of similar files from other contributors approved recently to Adobe Stock contributor support, while our non-similar files were being rejected, and I received a surprisingly real non-bot contributor support response, defensively saying that they reserve the right to determine what to approve and what to reject:

"Please note that per the Adobe Stock Contributor Terms, we have the sole discretion to accept or reject content submitted to Adobe Stock at any time, and to amend our standards for acceptance. And these decisions are made by our moderation team, unfortunately I have no influence on their decisions."

"Whatever, we have no power over this, it is what it is". Yeah, I totally agree, they have the right to do whatever they want. But aren't they supposed to communicate changes to us, though?

Yeah, cause they have monopoly in the market. And we have no choice as to accept. But still they got 77% of income from each sale, should't they be interested in more diverse portfolios and new assets fresh? This question I will leave unanswered

Sorry, this is nonsense. There is no monopoly. You can submit to different sites. And how you get this 77% is a mystery to me.

What is Adobe Stock's royalty structure?

The royalty rate is applied to the net price per licensed asset, based on the U.S. purchase price and including any discounts. For example, if the plan costs US$29.99 per month for 10 monthly photo licenses, then the royalty amount (rounded up to the nearest cent) would be US$0.99 per licensed photo (US$29.99 / 10 photos x 33%). Note: actual royalty calculations may not be rounded to the nearest cent.

77%+33%=110%! Adobe gets 67%.

But you do not really know, what Adobe gets from stock, as they do not sell single images, but subscriptions.

Your 77% figure is incorrect. Contributors earn 33%, Adobe earns 67%.

Adobe rarely reveals changes in internal business practices and policies, nor are they obligated to do so. Nevertheless, we continue to hope that they will eventually shed some light on this new reviewing algorithm that seems to be rejecting assets arbitrarily.

Where do you read this obligation?

What can you do? You can ask to delete your whole portfolio. If a lot of contributors do that, they'll get in trouble. But, just saying. None of you will do that, because you all hope to still do business with Adobe. So, you will accept this policy.

I stay with my message: the tool is ill configured. Will it hurt Adobe? I do not know. Will it hurt contributors? Sure! Do they care? I'm not sure. Their primary goal is not to make contributors happy, but to make the customers happy. Only the subscription sales figues will show that. And that is not a figure that is public.

@Abambo I'm not sure what to think of your passive-aggressive tone. Usually, it's a common courtesy for businesses to provide updates to whoever is involved in the process. We have the right to be in the know, you can disagree with this all you want.

Just so you know, the opinions of every single person here matter, not just your opinion. It has been coming across from you as if we're not allowed to express our concern and frustration here. And to prevent more snarky recommendations from you like "stop uploading, delete your portfolio" - me and some of other contributors already stopped submitting images weeks ago when these rejections first started. Also, we will decide for ourselves what to do with our portfolios, please and thank you.

Have a nice day.

I tried to upload the photos again. With a change in the category and another title they were accepted. Coincidence or just luck?

I had also thought about resubmitting my images that were rejected for similarity, but I was afraid of being accused of spamming !!!

Adobe Stock is pretty strict when it comes to repeated submissions of rejected images, I won't take any chances
