Vector file is NOT vector...

New Here ,
Jul 25, 2023 Jul 25, 2023

I downloaded asset 193158173, assuming it was a vector file. It downloaded as AI and does contain vector elements, however the main image that I donwloaded the file for is just a buch of high-res bitmaps.

I feel cheated and misinformed. How can I return the license?

Thanks for your help! Best regards

Jan S.

Hello Jan@KF, I believe this vector is working as expected. If you right-click on the image and select "Release Clipping Mask" this might resolve your issue as this gives you more control over the individual vector items that make up the full vector.

Well, you can use any program you want, but Illustrator files are best opened with Illustrator. Other programs may open the asset, or may not open the asset. If they claim to open Adobe Illustrator files, and you have problems with that, you should contact the customer service of your program vendor.

The alternative is to take the 7-day trial subscription of Adobe Illustrator and to save the file in a different format. You could also try to open the file as a PDF file, as Illustrator offers th

Hey Contributor1, hey Abambo.

Thanks for your answers, but: Sorry, no. It is NOT working as expected.

I am NOT using Adobe Illustrator, and I shouldn't have to. I downloaded a vector file to edit in a vector editing program, and it does not work.

Please advise.
Jan

Don't get me wrong, Abambo,

I really appreciate your and @Contributor1 's help.

It's just that when the file description in Adobe Stock says "Abstract Blue Wave on Background. Vector Illustration" and "File Type: AI/EPS und JPEG" I can assume that the file is in a non-proprietary file format. That should be assumed for all and any files in an open stock image collection.

Thanks for suggesting the workarounds. I don't want to use the trial of AI, and renaming to PDF (or EPS) did not work. So I'll just cancel the subscription for Adobe Stock and find a collection that better suits my needs. 😉

Have a great weekend!

Best regards

Jan

Per se are .ai files proprietary, even if the are what a professional user would expect. But if you do not have access to a current version of Adobe Illustrator, you will run into difficulties.
