What is happening to Substance Player?

I see no mention of the free Substance Player. Is it discontinued?

Substance Player is used by people who cannot afford Substance Designer to view, customise and export PBR textures created with Designer in a SBSAR file, which they download from other people who have Designer.

Hello @nuckles @moniqueb86988046,

We have added a Download... link to the Tools > Substance Player menu to make it easier to find and update Player as needed.

I hope this helps!

Best regards.

Having the link buried no where to be found was a nice addition. 😒

Hello,

Substance Player is still available through its documentation section.

In Substance 3D Designer, you can send a package directly to Substance Player by clicking RMB on a package or graph item in the Explorer panel, and selecting the Send to Substance Player option in the contextual menu – the option is under the Send To sub-menu in the case of a package.

Thanks for your reply, but will there be any more updates to Substance Player?

Hello,

Substance Player will keep receiving updates so it supports future changes to the Substance 3D file format (SBS). and thus stays compatible with future versions of Substance 3D Designer.

No other changes are currently planned.
