Question

About how to create textures

I want to create a Karesansui texture like the image.

I would like to know how to create fine sand and stone textures, and how to create ripples.

Hello @MASA_5C16,

Do you want to create a Material or do you want to texture an already existing 3D Mesh? Because if you want to build a Material, Substance 3D Designer will probably be more suited for the job.

If you already have an existing 3D model, I would probably build the rocks (and ripples?) in geometry, and I'd make the textures with Substance 3D Painter. There are many tutorials you can find on how to sculpt rocks with Zbrush or Blender, and you'll find a lot of materials in the Substance 3D Assets library that could help with your project.

If you want to build it inside Designer, you could tile a Gradient map and use a Cartesian to Polar node to make those ripples.

That should be a good start.

Hello. thank you for your reply.

There is a confirmation regarding the texture of Karesansui.

Paste the pebble aggregate texture from the polygon plane model

Create ripples on the normal map

Is this process correct?

Also, since I'm a student and have an Adobe Enterprise plan, I can't use Substance Assets.

So please let me know if there is an alternative.
