Question

Finding duplicate photos

As a long-time user of Adobe forums (primarily Dreamweaver), I have learned to trust them for good answers, so I hope you can help me with a non-Adobe type question. I have oodles of photos taken over the years (with non-digital methods) and have scanned them (both positives and negatives) for my own preservation. I would like to do two things to these photos:

1. Scan through those digitized images for dupes

2. Test newly "found" photos for dupes in the already scanned collection

I hope someone can suggest their favorite Windows app for doing this kind of thing?

Use one of them Duplicate Photos Fixer Pro, VisiPics, or Duplicate Cleaner

Thanks - do you have experience with any of these? If so, which have worked the best for you?

Well howdy, howdy Murray. 🤠  Long time no see!  Where have you been keeping yourself?

Do the duplicates contain metadata?

I use Adobe Bridge (it's free) and a powerful asset management tool & viewer.

https://www.adobe.com/products/bridge.html

Hope that helps.

Hey Nancy! It's great to find old friends here - was hoping this would happen. I have been fully retired since early 2018, and haven't even been lurking, but I kept a few good clients primarily doing maintenance jobs for them. Meanwhile, I have been doing things for myself like digitizing and archiving my hundreds (thousands?) of photos taken over the last 40 years. This is where my qduplicates question arises. I'm not familiar with Bridge and will just dig right in and see what it's about! Thanks for your suggestion. And it's great chatting with you...

And by the way, none of the images contain significan metadata. 😞

Since this is not a Photoshop question — or even an Adobe question — I have moved your question to The Lounge for you.

I did a search for "find duplicate images windows 10" and found multiple links, including one from Microsoft.

You might also ask on Reddit or in the Microsoft forums.
