I have been having the same problem with my iMac Retina 5K with a Radeon Pro Vega 48 8 GB GP card.  The "solution" of turning off the Graphics Processor setting in Photoshop is not really a solution at all for me and only creates more problems:   Without that "Use Graphics Processor" setting turned on, my screen doesn't refresh when using heal brushes and when transforming an image, there are no visible handles to grab.  Once I do grab an edge of the image to transform, the handles appear...but then don't go away.    So this solution isn't really a solution at all for me.  I have to choose between photoshop requiring a force quit if I use sky replacement, or having very poor screen refresh issues.  Adobe, Please FIX THIS BUG!   It's been going on for quite a while.   ... It works!  You are right.  10.1.1 works fine.  Renaming files in any of my folders on any of my drives works fine.   Bug is in Lightroom Classic 10.2.    I hope Adobe can get this resolved in next update.  It's a serious bug.  Renaming folders without having software glitches is pretty critical to most users.   ... Bill, all users with issues are from MacOS users using most recent operating systems on various hardware systems.   Many of these users have been using lightroom for several years without having this issue, and you don't think a lightroom bug specific to MacOS users is at the top of the list of likely candidates?   ... I've noticed that after imports are complete, or after exports are completed, lightroom is still busy doing something in the background for several minutes, perhaps building previews or whatever, but there is no obvious indication of what it's doing.  All I know is that it gets slow/laggy for several minutes after importing images.   Renaming folders when this is happening tends to give me the lost files issue.   So I've had to change the way I do things:  I now import with import dialog selected, and choose minimal previews.   When I export images, I don't add them to the library until later, when it's a good time to bring them in and can wait for lightroom to finish whatever it's doing in the background.  I do this via syncronizing the folder I know they are in, and again, I use the import dialog and have minimal previews selected.   I've found that this speeds up lightroom considerably and now files tend not to get lost when I rename the folders.     I have also tinkered with Lightroom and Catalog preferences significantly lately, and also reformatted one of my hard drives that was having permission issues, so perhaps all of this together has helped fix the issue...fingers crossed. ... I just updated to Big Sur 11.3 in the hopes that this problem would go away.  It didn't.  Well, it worked for about a day.    It seems completely random:  Sometimes renaming a folder works fine, sometimes it loses just a few files and they eventually come back if I click away from the folder, and sometimes every folder and file is lost and won't come back until I restart Lightroom, and anything in between is also possible.    Any scenarios can play out in different ways on the exact same folder of images every time I try to rename it.  I've seen no pattern to it.   Again, find missing folder/image does nothing when selecting it in the finder.   Only thing that works is restarting Lightroom.    BTW, I've noticed that Lightoom can successfully point to a missing image if I select "show in finder"  (or cmd+r) , so it seems to know how to locate it, but still shows it as missing.   This issue is happening no matter where any catalog file is located, and no matter where any of the images are located, it also happens across operating systems.    I have 2 external single USB drives, 1 external 4 bay Raid 0 usb drive, and 3 external 4 bay softraid 0 drives, two are thunderbolt with SSDs.   Lightroom resides on my internal SSD.   I have also tried running Lightroom Classic from Big Sur OS residing an external SSD, same issue.    A few more things to try:  clean re-install of lightroom (via creative cloud) on external SSD.   Try a catalog file located on internal SSD.    New catalog files seems to work for a short while so I may not know if problem returns for a day or two... ... Now I'm noticing that the missing images in a folder keep changing as I simply click from one image to another in the folder, also folder will sometimes flip from missing/not missing just by clicking on random images in the folder.  When folder is missing, everything inside it is missing.  But if I click on any image in that folder, the folder will suddenly come back and some of the images will too.  It's changing with every click.    - BTW this is with a catalog that was working fine for the last two days, but this morning has suddenly gotten this bug.  So depressing.  I thought I had finally figured out a way to avoid this.  So issue is NOT catalog related, or catalogs develop bug after some usage.   Here is a link to the screen capture video ... @Alexander Tried what you suggested.   Folders do not show up as missing when I rename, but some/all of images inside will be missing.  When I rename a folder with missing images, the missing image count frequently changes.   So sometimes every image will be missing after rename, and then after renaming again sometimes a few of them will suddenly not be missing anymore.   Sometimes I can rename a folder and it works fine with no missing images.  It seems completely random. ... I determined last night that creating a new catalog and importing all of your images doesn't fix the problem.   It seemed to work when I had just a few images, but when I imported significantly more, the problem came back.    My only solution so far has been to make a copy of the only catalog I have that doesn't have this bug and add/remove images from there.    FYI my working catalog has about 70000 images and my new copied catalog now has about 75000 images.   ... Correction:  New catalogs do NOT work fine.  Just created a new catalog and imported a bunch of images.  When I try to change a folder name, all images in that folder are lost and unfindable until I restart Lightroom.  Tried hosting catalogs on different hard drives to see if the issue is a particular drive, but so far it's the same issue no matter where the catalog file is, or where the images are stored.  So, only one catalog works, for whatever reason.  I'll trying copying this working catalog and see if the copy works.           ... It appears the issue is related to all but one of my catalogs.  One catalog works fine (non-work images), the other catalogs (work images) have this same issue.  New catalogs appear to work fine.  I suppose my best/only solution is to start a new catalog file by either creating a new catalog and importing all of my work images, or making a copy of the working catalog (which has different images on it) and then importing the images I want/removing the images I don't want?   I find it odd they all got corrupted at the same time given that some of the catalogs that now have this bug worked fine the last time I opened them, which was several months ago.  Any suggestions on how to best create a duplicate of my catalog that won't have the bug without losing my custom filter, processing and export presets?        ... Have you tried creating a new catalog, adding a few images, and testing to see if the problem occurs with the new catalog?    I have one older catalog that works fine, but the rest of them have the same bug.  However new catalogs seem to work ok, though I've not tested a new catalog with a LOT of images.   I personally don't want to have to create an entirely new catalog and re-import all of my images to get rid of this bug.    ...
