To elaborate, a collection's presentationPath is the collection file on disk. For special folders (on Windows at least) like Computer or the Libraries, its either a file or a temp folder. For searches and View->Show Items in Subfolders, there is no presentationPath returned. Even having the user choose a folder won't work if there are duplicate filenames. In that case, the move just won't complete. You have to handle the conflict and rename the dupes or they won't be moved. ... View more

You would need to have some sort of image parsing plug-in or (MAYBE) call a helper app that does generate a histogram, create an image on the fly, and display that in a tabbed palette. If you run this script from a search (and probably from a collection), it will NOT work right. There are some bugs with presentationPath and it doesn't work with duplicate filenames. An i5 is just fine, RAM is very important and a fast scratch disk is second. My main workstation is a 2011 iMac with an i5 and 20GB of RAM (I haven't put in an SSD yet.) My backup is a 2011 13" MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM and an SSD. Both work fine with 20mp files. I have a Thunderbolt dock to plug in USB 3 drives. Do these files play in Windows Media Player? Have you installed iTunes to see if they play there? What about VLC? MOV format is what's called a container. Inside that is a codec where the actual video is compressed and encoded. Depending on the codec, MOV files may or may not play on Windows. And to use them with a specific program, they may need to be converted. I did some testing and show a VERY slight color shift with both sRGB and aRGB JPEG files. I'm filing a bug but I don't see a huge change. The L*A*B values in Photoshop are WAY different which is expected. For example, Blue shifts from #0000FF to #0000FE and middle grey from #818181 to #808080 (measured onscreen.) You are running Photoshop on old Core 2 Duo computers with 4GB of RAM and 80GB hard drives. Odds are, you will have problems as these are right at the minimum requirements, especially under Windows 10. I realize edu budgets are a problem, but upgrading the RAM and hard drives will really help. A bunch of, say, 160GB SSD's would be a HUGE help, and 8GB of RAM is a lot more realistic. It sounds to me like you didn’t do your research. That’s the latest 15” model without the Touch Bar. All of the 2016 and later 15” models have it. The biggest issue was not getting the discrete graphics. And for some reason I thought you had bought a refurb online. Apple only sells those through the online store. So you have a choice. I thought you bought it online. That is the mid-2015 model, but it was discontinued in June 2018 so if you got it new, it was just the older model without a touchbar. It will have Thunderbolt 2 and not USB 3.1 ports, and a card reader. And there are no other drivers. This is not the Windows world where you dig around for some new video software. Whatever Apple releases is current. The Photoshop error is generic. You may just be running low on RAM. That integrated video can only use 1.5GB of system RAM, it doesn't have dedicated VRAM. Stick with white/grey/black unless you are using something like a colored base (say, red velvet) that will be in the final photo. You have a refurbished computer, not a new one. It is a mid-2015 model. You cannot add RAM. It already has the maximum 16GB and RAM is soldered to the logic board regardless. There are no video drivers beyond what Apple includes in the OS. This isn't Windows where you have to dig around to find some third-party software. Do make sure you have installed any firmware and OS updates, and try creating a brand-new user account for testing and run Photoshop there to see if that fixes the problem. ... View more
