This issue is really hitting hime today as I am rendering 20 "how to" product videos for a client without the use of Adobe Media Encoder. Even with it set to software only rendering, AME is creating massive glitches and lines on my footage. Worse than ever actually. My only option is to render each video one by one from the timeline using software only, which is painfully slow with this many deliverables to finish. Thank God I have one method that gives me clean renders, but man does it suck to have all this speed and no ability to use it without destroying my work. I feel you man. My new system only works because I'm software only with premiere. See post 65. The only reason I can work semi efficiently is I've had a lot of DSLR projects lately (no RED shoots). I still refuse to upgrade from Mac OS 10.9.2 or Premiere Pro CC from 7.2.1. If I hadn't sold my tower to pay for 1/2 of this new, top of the line Mac Pro, I'd still be using it for my current work. Still no concrete answers on this issue other than the new Mac OS upgrade supposedly fixes it, but after all the other problems, that's not to be taken as Gospel just yet.  Feel like I'm taking crazy pills at this point... ... Such a bummer jim. I've been in your position on a major documentary edit when my gear kept crashing. Had apple and 2 other drive companies pointing fingers and spent weeks figuring out the problem myself. the only reason I can work is that I haven't upgraded premiere pro CC or my OS, so I'm able to work without OpenCL and at least get my work done. If you are able to downgrade to the former version of each, you may be in my position with your new Mac Pro, which is at least functional via your CPU. Still no fixes. What year is this? ... Still waiting hoping for your response to post 76 Kevin. I'm hoping its because you're taking the time to investigate. Looking forward to your answer. Regarding 10.9.3 and this issue. I never upgraded to 10.9.3 and have had this issue since day 1 with my new Mac Pro.  The sad truth thus far is that all companies (Apple, Adobe, AMD) keep pointing fingers and nobody has a solution. The only real fix I've heard of is post 60, having apple replace your graphics cards due to a bad batch from AMD, but I held off on this because of post 76 where AMD's chief engineer claims the cards are fine and Adobe needs to get OpenCL 2.0 running. First off Nabolom, see post 76. Made me very happy! (oh wait that's your post. thanks) I haven't upgraded to the new OS because I heard about all the problems, so it's not the OS. Regarding the GFX card replacement I was planning on (not now), you take in your computer for things like that to get thing set up, then bring it back for the repair only (once they have the part and can for sure begin work). I started this discussion a while back and just want to clarify the current status of this issue so you can save the time of reading all these posts: THE FACTS - The horizontal lines issue is random, yet persistent, in both playback and renders in both H.264 and Prores. - You can get clean renders using open CL, there's just no way of predicting when it will work. - The issue is persistent in both Premiere Pro and Adobe Media encoder. - Creating other user accounts, clearing the cache, or avoiding 3rd party plug ins will NOT fix the issue. - Calling tech support will not fix the issue. This discussion is your best source. THE WORKAROUND - To get around the playback/render issue in PP, go up to the project menu, and in the settings turn off open CL. Use software only. - To get around the render issue in AME, turn off open CL in the render panel. Use software only. THE MOST LIKELY FIX TO THIS ISSUE since not everyone is having this issue, the most likely fix is found in post #60 (J Schwarz). The random horizontal line issue occurs at random times both during playback and in any renders if you have open CL activated. To stop the problem during playback, go into your project>settings and change from open CL to software only. This is the same fix when exporting in order to avoid the horizontal lines (make sure open CL is turned off in the export settings). I am currently working in software only mode in premiere projects, exporting with software only, and avoiding Adobe media encoder altogether until Adobe fixes this mess. It's the only way I can guaranteed get my work done. So ironic having the fastest Mac in history, only to have to work in the slowest mode possible. ... View more

Just spoke to tech support again. The guy said the upgrade won't be out until the end of this month (thought it was supposed to be then end of last month?), and he could not guarantee the issue will be fixed because they can't seem to get it to manifest on their end. Remember, I shared screens with a tech a few weeks ago and showed him the issue over and over again. But apparently only a small number of computers are having this issue. keep in mind jschwarz, this issue's only workarounds involve eliminating the graphics cards from the process. Therefore the most likely issue is the AMD Firepro cards, which is what Adobe says are the problem. What bums me out is not getting any help from Adobe on this forum for 3 weeks other than "try cleaning the media cache". jschwarz, do not listen to Apple on this one. I've dealt with phantom issues in the past and "the ram may be the issue" is one of many things they suggest. This issue is known, but the problem is almost certainly compatibility with the new mac pro's hardware. I've used the same software on my laptop, an imac, a 2012 mac pro and now the new mac pro, and my latest computer (new mac pro) is the ONLY system this happens on. ... View more

That was my workaround Chad, but yesterday I began having the issue even with that method, which worked until yesterday. Rendering via AME with open CL turned off, for the first time the lines showed up in the final product. My workaround to that workaround is to: - clean media cache - in Premiere project settings, switch open CL off - export straight from premiere the madness continues.
