Later uninstalled Acrobat re-installed it entered the license key (required at the very start) at the end entered the key of the previous version (it was an update that I installed) launched Acrobat, 6 days left... log-off Acrobat/Log-in makes no difference, it offers me to purchase a license. In the meantime I discovered that I am not the only one facing issues with the Acrobat installation. A bit weird, a big company like Adobe, they seem to have problems with a decent licensing system, resulting in legitimate users spending a lot of time trying to get the software registered.

Regretfully that didn't help. Tried it twice. Whilst checking which version was installed (32bit or x64) I noticed a x64 folder was created within: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 2017\Acrobat That one was created yesterday. That was after restoring a Windows image and that again was because when trying to active/download/install .NET 2.0 Windows (10 x64 latest version) ended with BSOD (fltmgr.sys, whatever) I am running a 32bit Acrobat. I just now remember: yesterday, I got a popup that Acrobat was updated. Usually that is nothing special. This time I suspect it may be the cause of the issue. Should there be 2x AcroCEF.exe running? Bottom line I might indeed have to reinstall Acrobat, but how to prevent this from happening again? Thanks!

All of a sudden Acrobat 2017 Pro states I have x days left, whereas it was a registered product before. In the top right corner of Acrobat my name is displayed and I can log into 'My Account'. There it shows the order history and under Acrobat 2017 Pro also the registration key. When launching the Acrobat the file history is displayed, etc. So, everything is like before, except then... Acrobat displays it is a trial... Any suggestions? Thanks! p.s. Maybe the only way is the re-install it?

Thanks! Sorry for the delay... I hoped there would be some sort of setting within preferences that I needed to just enable. Probably it is a bug. The 100% display is okay, normally, it is only when using bookmarks en skipping from one page to the other then.

One way or the other each new page resizes to 200% or something. Tried everything, get pretty much fed up. Under Preferences->Page Display the Default Layout and Zoom is set to Page Layout: Automatic Zoom: Fit Page. This seems to be okay when just opening a PDF However...., when I use the bookmarks within that PDF each page is then resized to around 200% When I set a page to fit height, it is okay for that single page, but the next page is again resized. Vainly searched for a solution. Any suggestions? Thanks.

As for color managemen', I am far, I mean far, from an expert. Probably the 'solution' I found may not entirely be correct, in fact, it may not work at all. Initially it looks fine and the way I prefer, slightly more vivid. However, when I save the PDF with these snapshots and send the file to someone else, he/she may have their Acrobat (Reader) to default sRGB and the images still look somewhat 'dull'. I assume... that the embedded monitor color settings are not taken over when the receiver opens the file, i.e. Acrobat will resort to showing the images using default sRGB. Anyway... it is as it is... Would like to thank you very much for all your help! It is truly appreciated.

Below the Photoshop CS6 settings vs Acrobat 2017 on PPI matters. Acrobat -> Preferences -> General -> Scale for screen resolution is set to 'Auto Detect' and -no- fixed resolution for snapshot tools has been set. In Photoshop -> Edit -> Image Size, resample image is tagged. it shows the actual image width is 28,12 cm considering the width of A4 paper (landscape) being 29,7 and considering probable margins, maybe some resampling took place..? --later-- I found it... setting RGB to monitor RGB gets me the same images as within Photoshop, XnView, etc. slightly more contrast, resulting a little more 'vivid'.

Thank you for your elaborate reply. Very sorry for the delay. FWIW I have added a few of the color settings below. I have to confess, these settings, I am not entirely acquainted with them. I believe they are pretty much default. As for the size, within Acrobat and Photoshop, at 100^% the size widths, both, are exactly 24,8x15,2cm. Fitting within A4-page of 29.7 x 21cm There is resizing there. BUT... may... be an issue as far as DPI PPI is concerned ..? (see at the bottom) I have seen a -lot- of explaning posts on Internet, difference between DPI and PPI. Frankly I did start reading about it: it is not worth spending so much time on this. The differences are small, though noticeable for me. If there is no 'quick fix' (like a 'tag this, or tag that'-solution), then I think it isn't worth spending an awful lot of time on it. Thanks for the response. I have put two parts together: one part (left) from the screenshot that has been added into PDF (from SnagItEditor) the other is a part (right) that is viewed within SnagItEditor (I used portable FastStone Screencapture to capture both) you see that the left is slightly brighter. It is not much I agree, but the entire picture (that I can not display in view of privacy) as slightly 'dull', less contrast, in the PDF. Say, if it were to be displayed, a photographer would say that the image needed see post processing so to say. (like very slightly reducing exposure, adding bit more contrast) As they are screenshots, they don't have any color settings, so I am wondering whether I should do anything in the color management. Currently set to Europe General Prepress 3. But, frankly speaking, I have no knowledge about that... =

When having created screenshots (PNG files), I drag them into Acrobat. Works fine, except I notice that the screenshots when displayed in the screenshot editor (SnagItEditor) has the right contrast but in Acrobat it looks as if the images are -say- 0,5 stop overexposed. They are noticeably brighter. Settings in Preferences->Convert to PDF (PNG) are: Monochrome Compression: JBIG2 (Lossless) Grayscale Compression: ZIP Color Compression: ZIP RGB Policy: Preserve embedded profiles Gray Policy: Preserve embedded profiles <-I tried that with 'Off' but it makes no difference. This is about PDF on websites Some (or better: most) PDF files are opened in my web browser. If want to save that file, there a simple button download button. The file will be saved in \Downloads. Other PDF files will not open in a browser, but instead, there are two options: - direct download (no preview=not the preferred way) - open in Acrobat and then save it Within Acrobat there is no simple button similar to the browser preview version. Instead: click File click File Save as.. click on folder (or may be even click browse to the right folder) click save Is there no way to save the file directly to a given folder? Save, no questions asked. (that is .. without having to pay for it) Thanks!

Okay, thanks. Basically the answer is "No. Acrobat, by itself, does not offer this feature". One needs for a 3rd party script, which no doubt makes sense when used regularly, but not for a one-off thing. With all due respect and definitely no offense meant! (Don't me wrong) Again thanks!

I have 200 page documents, containing 30 chapters and numerous paragraphs. Just finished adding (many) bookmarks. I would like to add page numbers to each bookmark, or alternatively, create a kind of index from them with page numbers, so, when the document is printed there will be an index similar to a normal book. IF at all possible, how am I to proceed? Acrobat 2017 Pro. Thanks!

Many thanks. Reason for asking is that I vainly tried to find a list of the hotkeys. Surely it exists, but I can't find it. Also, is it possible to 'reconfigure' the hotkeys? e.g. Select a text, add them as bookmark, and add color to the text in the document. Right now all is done by right clicking selected text (add as bookmark, set color) Maybe same can be done with 2x hotkey?

I have a number of lessons about something in PDF format (about 30 documents of 8-10 pages) Would like to create a kind of 'index' similar to a book-index. Am not sure how to proceed on that though. What I just started doing right now is the following: - I select paragraph headers and add them as bookmark - also I select specific text within the paragraphs and add those as bookmark as well Never used this method before. Is this the right way to go? The bookmarks are all -within- their documents. If I want to have a total index (of all 30 documents), how am I to proceed then? Should I combine all the 30 documents first and then start bookmarking within the 'combined' document? Thanks.

Whilst running diagnostic tools on your system and submitting logs in security/malware detection forums, you may run the risk of submitting your personal email address. A tool like Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) will produce a logfile containing your personal email address. Farbar definitely is not to blame... Instead it lookss like Adobe has added user's email address to a Windows task.... From what I understand, this is very exceptional. Two questions 1) Sometimes I need Acrobat to do an OCR-task on some bigger files. Acrobat is then running 'in the background'. it'll take (quite) some time, but that is no problem. However, I can not open any PDF file then, Acrobat will run into a "failed to send a DDE command"-error. Is there a workaround for this? If not.. and I assume there is none.. what about the following (didn't try it yet) 2) install Acrobat within VMware Workstation, have the OCR task run in there. I believe I am allowed to install it twice " 2.1.3.Portable or Home Computer Use. Subject to the restrictions set forth in Section 2.1.4, the primary user of the Compatible Computer on which the Software is installed under Section 2.1 ("Primary User") may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Compatible Computer or a Compatible Computer located at his or her home, provided that the Software on the portable or home Compatible Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Compatible Computer. " I use VMware Workstation mainly for testing purposes. After that I usually restore a 'snapshot'. Probably I need to de-activate Acrobat within Workstation as I assume that, after a snapshot-restore, Acrobat can not be installed again because the license has already been activated a 2nd time (within VMware). Q: How to deactivate the license for ONLY the VMware version? Is there a command line for that? Thanks.

Thanks. The thing is that this action also does the OCR-job so the contents of the converted images can be indexed, e.g. using X1 Search. I am not sure of a command line thing that is: - converting - ocr - saving of many .jpg/.png files from the context menu, without... without opening a (new) separate tab/session for each conversion. Meaning if you convert 20 files, then, with the current context menu, it will open 20 tabs. With the tool above, Acrobat opens 1 tab per file only. I've looked around on Internet, but IF at all a solution is available, then only at a (relatively high) price.

I'd like to get back on this matter: gave it some further tries. Converting jpg/png files: discovered that for this type converting the number of files to pdf is not so much of an issue. Probably the issue of "Adobe Acrobat has stopped working" is caused by converting (many) other filetypes in those folders, such as Word and Excel. For each conversion Word / Excel is launched, taking focus thus making any other work impossible. As for converting jpg/png files, before actually starting the task, one might reduce the Acrobat window and move it in some corner of the screen, so one can continue with Internet stuff. To convert/OCR of 1000, 2000 image files is no problem. It will take a while, but Acrobat will not crash. That is my experience. To see what would happen, I did run this task on 12,000+ files. It took 8 hours. Most of the time it was running nicely in some corner of my monitor and I could continue doing something else on my pc. Only working with Excel was a little bit of a problem: one way or the other the Excel window was in-activated because of this conversion. btw: is possible to add an action to Explorer context menu?

Again, thanks to you both. Regretfully I can only mark 1 reply as correct answer. With respect to others, I think try67 led me into the right direction specifically 'search for Acrobat'. Personally I think it is a bit of a shame that Adobe more or less hides the software they actually prefer nót to sell... It is like a car-dealer having cars that can be leased only in the showroom. You vainly keep on walking around in the showroom, but no non-lease car can be found. Until someone outside tells you you which town, street and dealer still sell those 'non-lease' cars... Anyway, I bought 2017 Pro...

Checked out Acrobat website and noticed a purchase button on DC, but none on the 2017 version. Probably 2017 is not for sale anymore.

thanks for the above. okay. have to live with this then. please allow me to ask a few extra questions: - as for the task, see screenshots, has this been created in the correct way? - this has been created with XI Pro, but would DC handle this in a better way? - is there a way to run this minimized? - there is a convert to PDF in the context menu - regretfully it opens a new Acrobat session for each converting job. If I select e.g. 12 files to convert, it will launch 12 Acrobat sessions. Take it this can not be avoided? thanks again!
