Interesting, I've never heard of the term "foolclips." We've always referred to them as "spanned" clips. My understanding of conforming is that it is taking any compressed audio from your media and created uncompressed versions for easier editing. When conforming large amounts of media, this can take ages. Does your 4K footage have audio? (even if no audio is recorded, empty audio tracks might still be laid down which would still require conforming, thus taking additional time) If not, have your production team turn off audio recording or record to an uncompressed format (PCM). As for your spanned media, did your DIT join them? Or do you have the original camera card structure intact? If you have the cards in their entirety, be sure to use the Media Browser to import the media, NOT Premiere's native import. VS The little eyeball icon selection, "directory viewers" will be different depending on your type of card media.
