You did it the correct way and your images are likely still there. Just check the drive in explorer. Using this method (which is method one in the link) you WILL retain all edits as those are stored inside the catalog. What likely has happened is that moving the drive back and forth between computers has changed the drive letter and now Lightroom doesn't know where to look for them. You want to probably give it a fixed drive letter at some point which I think (I am not a windows user) is possible. For now just right click the top folder in the left bar in Lightroom Classic and update the folder location to point to the correct location with the correct drive letter. This problem cannot be fixed currently unfortunately. Perhaps with some future AI photo editing tool but this is much more difficult to correct after the fact than almost any other kind of edit. Not sure I understand what you did exactly. It sounds like you reimported already existing images into Classic and pointed the import to the folder on your internal drive where those images were? If so that would indeed not lead to anything imported as those images are already in the catalog and the default action is to not import already existing images. You can circumvent that by unchecking the "do not import suspected duplicates" option but this really is NOT the way to move images. It inevitably leads to loss of edits.   The best way to move images to another drive is to move them in Explorer/Finder by copying them to the other drive. Then inside Lightroom CLassic, you right-click on the top-most folder in the hierarchy you moved and select "Update folder location" and now point at the corresponding folder on the external. Check that the folder now shows up listed on the other drive in the left bar in Classic and that all images are there and now you can delete the folder on your internal drive. What are you using to view the file? If the viewer is correctly color managed, you should not see any difference between Lightroom and the export especially if you are using P3 color space. Hi Vijay, the problem is the color space you export to is fairly narrow and cannot represent the most saturated colors  especially reds. Most displays nowadays are able to display colors more akin to displayP3 color spaces, so if you export to sRGB, you cut off a chunk of colors that you might have had in your original. To retain this, use wider color spaces such as P3 or adobeRGB for your export, but be aware that not every program color manages correctly especially on windows where lots of software is not color managed. AFP was deprecated by Apple quite a few years ago and is no longer being developed nor supported by them even though it still works. The official line by Apple is that you should use SMB for filesharing. That is still somewhat buggy but there are a few settings you can do to optimize smb on the synology and on your Macs to make it faster and more reliable but usually it is fine out of the box. I also highly recommend the automounter utility (it's on the App Store but website here: https://pixeleyes.co.nz/automounter/ ) as Mac OS tends to constantly unmount any mounted shares if your mac goes to sleep. You know now how to wipe what's in the cloud now. You should not use the standard migration tool if you only want a subsection of your images from Classic to end up in cloud-based Lightroom. The migration tool will upload the entire classic catalog. There are many ways to accomplish that however. What you saw first was an embedded jpeg preview in the raw file that the camera generated. After a while, Lightroom will render its own preview using its own raw default settings. I always recommend people change those raw defaults (in preferences->Presets) to "Camera Settings" to avoid this confusion. This setting will choose a more camera specific profile or the embedded profile if these are dng files by default instead of Adobe default. This applies to newly imported images. For already imported images try using the "camera settings" preset on them.  Also, just hit Auto and your images will look great again. By far the simplest way is to NOT use apple photos at all but simply to install Lightroom app on your phone. Import your images from your photo roll there and they will sync down to your classic catalog. This will give you the highest quality. After that is done delete them in the Lightroom app in the phone and they will remain in your Lightroom Classic but won't take any cloud space. second easiest is what was already suggested to export as originals from Photos and import those images in Lightroom Classic but you need a lot of extra storage on your Mac that way. ... Been using NAS for Lightroom CLassic storage for a decade. This works absolutely perfectly as long as you connect it right for your Operating System which is nowadays smb for both Mac and Windows and use a good NAS. You won't get an official answer since there are too many variables involved that can mess things up. Just saying NAS doesn't help since you could be connecting over wifi instead of ethernet (wifi can be unstable), you could be using the wrong unsupported network protocol (nfs and AFP are not really supported anymore by Apple), you could have a unstable NAS device (many reasons possible for this), and many other causes for problems that have nothing to do with Lightroom. ... Every non-raw image in the library will get standard previews built. It is necessary to be able to display them. For raw images you can select to import using built-in previews since they actually have built-in jpeg previews but that can't be done here when importing jpegs since they don't have built-in previews. So you either make a copy of the actual jpeg into the preview database which doubles the storage requirement or you generate a standard preview.   Also, why import exported images? You were already helped to install an older version but there is a way to run a newer Mac OS version on your machine by using Open Core Legacy Patcher (google it). This will then allow you to run the latest Classic. Not without its pitfalls but you would not be the only one doing this. P.S. even the cheapest current Apple silicon Mac will be lightyears faster than this machine. If you can afford it, I would recommend not sticking with an 11 year old computer. ... View more

Do you mean during import? There is no duplicate finder in classic either that I know of except in the import panel. Or are you talking about one of the paid third-party plugins to do this (see here:https://www.lightroomqueen.com/clean-duplicate-photos/)? Without one of these plugins this is not a trivial thing to do. Indeed there is also no option to identify duplicates in Lightroom Cloudy so yeah if you are referring to the paid plugins in Classic and have a lot of duplicate files, this might be something you might want to do in Classic first. ... Excellent sleuthing @johnrellis . You are absolutely correct that the absence of the "PerfeFilm Standard v2.1 for Sony ILCE-7RM4" prevents the profile from showing up. That is a camera specific profile and so the entire thing even if the dcp is present will only work for that specific camera. This is a real problem as OneDrive will be syncing this file and partiually downloading it constantly. You really do not want this as it causes extreme slowdown especially if your internet connection is not super fast. You want to copy your catalog file to another location and move the previews foldr along with it and start the catalog from the new location. Doing that really should not cause the computer to crash. If it does something else is not right that might be harder to diagnose but likely something like a over full C: drive.  ... View more
