A quick google reveals that there are issues with the way Safari renders tables - there may not be a way to change that.

Don't you need to be editing the Preset? https://www.grainge.org/RoboHelp_Tour/rh2022/outputs/outputs_frameless.htm

That's kind of to be expected - all browsers have their own default CSS built into them, so the same HTML5 code will appear slightly different when displayed on Chrome/Edge or Firefox or Safari. What's the matter with how the tables are displaying?

Are you talking about differences in the same output created in RH being shown using different browsers?

According to the PR around the introduction of the new PDF engine, it's supposed to be much faster - no mention of file size.

Did somebody suggest a MIF-wash at some point? I forget if anybody did. That might have cleaned things up for your legacy doc.

You have to remember that there are 2 PDF creating engines in FM2022 - the older Print to Adobe PDF printer instance that uses Acrobat Distiller, or the newer PDF Publish method (includes Save as PDF). The newer Publish route has the option to flip back to use the older engine (as @FrameMaker-dk has shown).

If the print to AdobePDF doesn't produce any different results, then maybe it's got something to do with fonts? (just grasping at straws there)

Does making the PDF have any impact on the process? There are still two different PDF engines in FM2022 - print to AdobePDF printer instance (older) and the Publish route (which also includes Save As PDF) (newer). I don't think you mentioned HOW you were making the PDF.

#2 - is this happening with just one doc or all your docs? Is this a new install of FM 2022 (what point version are you on?)?

Hmm, interesting - so a RH topic with the space displays in Notepad without the space. Does it work in reverse I wonder? Create a simple HTML text file in Notepad with no space, then open it in RH (I expect it to add the space), then save it and open again in Notepad - space preserved or stripped?

I suspect that would be really tough to get the info about what the topic was going to be versioned as before it's checked in.

It's happening when you use Notepad? (note - not EditPro like your screenshot - that tool will change your HTML text according to their website)

Highly doubtful - I don't know if there's any way for RH to know anything about the SP versioning of documents that could be fed back into a variable.

What about doing a Review PDF? Then the comments from the reviewer are in the PDF in one screen (or one side of the screen) & the RH project is open in the other (screen or portion of the screen), ready for you make changes.

I think what @ugarrda has shown is that RH is applying them inconsistently when editing topics vs. having them edited for you when the "Rename" function is used. That's what I was asking you to confirm to potentially rule out a Windows vs. Mac version difference issue. But nevermind - @ugarrda - go ahead and log a bug in the Tracker and post the link here. Others may wish to vote for it.

I don't believe Notepad (not Notepad++) will apply any formatting or rewriting of tags/text when you use it to examine the topic.

I suspect the bug is in the Rename function - it's not applying the same changes that would be made if you had opened the topic up in the RH editor and saved it manually. @Peter Grainge can you see this same effect that @ugarrda is getting with the Rename example with your Windows version if you examine it with Notepad?

Sorry, hadn't watched the video - so the bug (inconsistency) is in the RH rename topic function when it encounters those line breaks in the changed topics. It wasn't clear to me when you mentioned not using the RH editor what you were using.

Edit the topic by changing a reference, without opening it in the RoboHelp editor: RoboHelp removes the space if it is there.
Why wouldn't you use RH to edit the reference in the first place??

So you're working in the source code screen inside a RH project doing all this? Or are you bopping back and forth from the Author view to Code View? I ask, because I've never "added a self-closing tag" before while authoring a topic in RH.
