I set it to "Smooth all Edit Boundaries by Crossfading 5 ms". It occurs with all frequencies that I put into the track. Without the fade I get a pop at the boundaries between frequencies.

I set the cross-fade option to be active, but when I create tones and insert them side by side, there is no cross-fade at the junction between tones. It worked a few days ago, but not now.

Now I am having difficulty again, this time creating the test tone at 19 kHz. The base frequency is 1 kHz, but the multiplier window says 12 instead of 19. I tried changing it to 19, but it reverted to 12. When I saved the test tone and tested it in a spectrum analyzer, the frequency is indeed 12 kHz and not 19 kHz. Big problem. This happened with Audition CS6 and CC 2018 but is variable in its occurrence.

Well, you don't seem to have an understanding of test tones. The modulation of one frequency against another is the exact result I am looking for. It's called Intermodulation Distortion (IMD). The modulation produces distortion peaks at 1 kHz (20 kHz minus 19 kHz, called the B minus A peak), and occasionally peaks on either side of the 19 kHz and 20 kHz peaks depending on how susceptible a preamp or power amp under test is subject to IMD. The problem is that the test tone that is created by Audition produces clipping, which I have not seen before in a 19 kHz, 20 kHz test tone. I have been doing this for 25 years and never experienced this problem. I see I made the right decision in cancelling my Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.

Finally, it listed the multipliers at 19 and 20, but when I play the tones, it is still clipped. When I save the tones and play it in another program, it is still clipped. What the hell is wrong with this?

I am still having an impossible difficulty creating test tones in Audition. I want to have 19 kHz and 20 kHz sine waves at 24/192 sampling. When I create the tones, the base tone is 1 kHz. I set the level at -5 dB. I set the multiplier to be 19 and 20 but it won't go above 12. I set the duration at 1 minute. When I play the tones, it clips. It will not play them at - 5 dB. Audition is some of the worst crap software I have ever used. Just impossible.

I created a stereo tone, shown below. It does not look like the screen you had, which was red. I clicked Save As, but the window says it is a Mono file. I created it in Stereo. I changed it to Stereo and clicked OK. I clicked File, New, Audio File, Mono. A window opened but there is no signal. It did not give me the chance to select a frequency or anything else. So, the same thing happened as before. There is no signal generated, no duration. So, it is still no sale.

I enjoyed the YouTube video. Thanks. However, I need you to step me through the entire process of creating a stereo test tone that has a different signal in each channel. The piece meal answers that I have so far just don't get it done. For example, I want to set up a 60 Hz sine wave in one channel and a 7 kHz sine wave in the other.

24/192 is not a massive sample rate. I don't use 16/44.1 due to the quantization error. In any case, Audition did not give me the option of creating a sound file within the new mono file window. It just created the window with nothing in it.

I have a high end sound card that is capable of 384 kHz, 32 bit. I created a stereo tone, which worked fine, then tried to create a mono tone. The mono tone was blank. Notice in the Duration window below, the 7 kHz mono tone is blank. It has no duration. Here is the waveform window. It has no content.

Another problem. I opened an audio file and started playing it. But, the Stop and Pause buttons are grayed out. I cannot stop the file from playing. Who designed this program? Massive changes are needed to make it user friendly.

Here is a screen shot that comes up when I select Generate, Tone. I select Stereo. Then OK. Then the stereo channel screen comes on. Then I select OK. Then I go to Generate again, but the screen shown below does not appear. It goes directly to the stereo signal generation screen.

When I first opened Audition and generated a tone, I was offered the option of stereo or mono. I chose stereo. When I tried to generate the second tone, it went directly to the tone generation in stereo. It did not offer a menu to select mono. That's the problem.

OK, I generated the first tone in stereo. I muted one channel. Then I tried to generate a mono signal so I could copy it into the active channel. But, Audition would not let me generate a mono signal. Only stereo. So, I am stuck again.

I generated the stereo tone. I then muted one channel and tried to generate a mono tone that I could insert into the live channel as you suggested, but Audition would not allow me to do that. So, I am stuck. It won't allow me to generate a mono tone. Very difficult software to use.

Post 23 said I should be using the line tool. So, I have to go to the line tool, then click the shape tool inside that tool menu. Then click to the right of the word Shape which is to the right of the gear icon in the top menu bar. Shape is probably not the best choice of words. It should be Symbols. And the menu bar at the top should have the word, "Insert", then "Symbols".

I selected the line tool as shown. Still, there is no menu to choose from an array of pre-designed arrows. Only a do it yourself arrow which I do not want. As I continue to say, absolutely horrifying user unfriendliness. Garbage to be frank. So vulnerable to new software programs that are emerging. I am now downloading trial versions of all of them. I think I need to write to the front office and state that the Adobe programming department is simply not doing a proper job. PS is almost unusable.

The problem with the PS help files is that they often do not answer the question. I had to go to Google to ask the PS question with the answers posted on various forums other than Adobe. I get this menu, with the gear icon: instead of this one: I am unable to get the word, "Shapes" to show up to the right of the gear icon. This software is so pathetic, it is (almost) funny. I have downloaded ON1 2019 as per their offer of today. I will let you know if I am switching to that program. PS is the most user unfriendly software I have ever used.

No Shapes icon in the tool bar. Finally got the Shapes icon (gear) to show up, but no arrows sub-menu. This is what I mean by horrid user friendliness and intuitiveness. Truly pathetic. Massive amount of work by Adobe is necessary to fix this. Otherwise, kiss your user base adios. Hello competition, and there is plenty of it now.
