There's really nothing in Audition CS6 that will "automagically" do what you need I'm afraid.  Intensive manual use of the Pitch Stretch tool on short sections of each file in Audition might go some way towards what you need, but the keyword there is "intensive"! I don't have any of the (later) CC versions of Audition but my impression is that none of them will offer a substantially easier workflow. I think this will work, but the chances of fully restoring the audio to match that of the first section are pretty slim. If you highlight the whole of the quiet section and then use the on-screen "volume" control - it's there on your picture, on top of the "loud" section - to increase the level, that will produce some increase in volume and noise.  Looking at the frequency spectrum display, my suspicion is that a lot of what has been recorded is noise, but you may be lucky. You ought also to be concerned as to why this happened.  Looking at the levels on the loud section, which are almost certainly clipping quite extensively, I think, it's almost as if your camera's audio AGC (automatic gain control) has completely ceased working due to (?)overload. ... I don't have PP so can't be sure of this, but in the video editor I use the "audio" is always displayed as a separate "track" on the video editor screen.  If I want to replace the camera audio I simply place the replacement audio, exported from Audition, on the next available track, ensuring it is correctly lined-up with the existing audio track (to ensure lip-sync etc.) and then either mute or delete the original audio.  (Not sure about PP, but in my video editor I have first to "ungroup" the original audio from its video track to be able to delete it; once I am happy with the alignment of the "new" audio I will "group" this track with the video to ensure they stay locked together.) ... What do you mean by "I record without it going through audition and auditions effects"?  Are you or are you not using Audition to record whatever audio you want?  If so, you should most definitely NOT be attempting to use "Auditions effects", at least until after the recording is complete! I realise the origin of this thread is more than 4 years ago and that it has already generated a lot of views and replies, some of them very unpleasant in their tone (see #48).  I also know SteveG does not need anyone to defend his views, he's quite capable of doing so himself!  (I, even as a very "surface-level" user of Audition, find Steve's knowledge of this product and of acoustics and recording generally absolutely invaluable.  I don't always agree with some of his views/opinions but I certainly would not flame him simply for holding them!) I don't think your "order" of working is right, sorry! The usual process is to create all the markers (presumably one at the beginning of each track) AND one at the very end of the last track. Select them all on the Markers panel. "Merge" them, which has the "effect" of removing that last "end" marker from the list. Change each marker "Type" to "CD Track" "Insert into CD Layout" ... I don't know about the Waves installer but, in my experience, most VSTs etc appear to install by default into a "Steinberg" folder.  Clearly, the assumption is that anyone using VSTs will have Cubase or Nuendo or similar installed. Just to follow up Matt's message ('cos I'm not sure he's suggested where to put those .dll files he's had you move or remove etc). On my system I have in Program Files a directory called "Adobe".  It contains sub-folders "Audition 3", "Audition CS5.5" and "Adobe Reader".  I have all my non-Adobe VSTs and VSTis in dedicated folders within that "Adobe" folder but outside the Audition folders.  With this arrangement all the VSTs are seen without problem by 3.0.1 and CS5.5, though I don't have any WAVES plugs.  (Clearly, I do have to tell AA where to find those "extra" plug-ins). If the file is hidden in Win7, you need to enable viewing of hidden files via Tools>Folder Option>View>Hidden files and folders>Show Hidden files and folders.  The full path to the actual folder is exactly as given in the post above. Jeff ... View more

I also have Win 7 Pro (SP1 in my case) and Extract Audio from CD in AA 3.01 works exactly as expected. So, it seems this problem is specific to certain users/computers, not something inherently wrong in either AA or, perhaps Win 7.  Sorry I can't offer any "reason" why this should be or how to avoid it!
