My opinion (as someone who owns and uses the full RX Advanced), Yes!  In my experience, RX can accomplish everything that Audition's repair tools can do (and more) but much more rapidly and with potentially considerably less user intervention.  I'm not suggesting that RX works "automatically" but, for example, one pass of its Noise Reduction can easily achieve what perhaps 3 , 4 or even more passes of AA's own NR would be needed to do, in order to successfully remove the noise. So, which do you want, a "join" or an "overlap"?  To me, they are NOT synonymous. Unless I'm completely misreading the figures in the screenshot of the Steinberg driver, you have an input latency of 4.240 milliseconds (that's 4 decimal two four zero) and output latency of 5.215 milliseconds.  Added together they total just under 10 milliseconds, or 10 thousandths of a second, nothing like you stated as being "half a second".  (If you are reading those figures as 4,240 milliseconds + 5,215 milliseconds, that would equate to a total of nearly 10 seconds!) So, if you do have a latency problem on your machine I would strongly suggest it is not caused by your interface driver.  Something else must be the cause. I can't comment on whether any "strange filter" was in use on your recorder as you worked (you need to check that yourself, perhaps) but, since you say that file you gave us is the "original", I have to say your chances of being able to perform ANY sort of edit to remove the robotic sounds is nil, sorry. In addition to the point raised by both Bob and myself re the absence of any usable audio in the right channel, is also the matter of the very low bit rate of 32kbps.  Is that really the original recording (mp3, left hand channel only AND low bit rate) or did you actually convert it for upload to Dropbox?  Hopefully, the original is a wav file!  If it is, can you select a short section of it (e.g. no more than 20 seconds or so) and post that to Dropbox? The file you supplied, although nominally stereo, has audio only on the left channel.  That may be deliberate but the problem of the "robotic" sound you refer to is very evident. In my experience, this is caused by excessive use of Noise Reduction.  You mention using diagnostics>declipper, but that would not create the effect you are hearing, IMO.  Do you still have the original file, i.e. before you applied the declipper?  If so, can you post a sample of that somewhere?  Unless you do have the unaltered original, I fear those artifacts are "baked in" to your audio. I know of no way to do this in Audition. The only software I know that can do this successfully is Melodyne from Celemony.  http://www.celemony.com/en/start?id=home It is not cheap but does include, in all versions from Editor upwards, a facility called DNA which allows you to do exactly what you are wanting to do, select one note and change its pitch.  (That is not just restating what the makers claim, I have actually used it to correct an error by the bass player in a direct-to-stereo file, without affecting any other notes which were sounding at the same time.) What are you hoping will be recorded by this method?  I suspect each of us who has contributed to this thread believed that you wished to capture speech from your exercise trainer. If so, I would venture to suggest you might well be very disappointed by the quality of what you hear on the recording.  I would guess your voice/trainer/whoever will not be standing still at a suitable fixed distance from the mic?  In that eventuality, the sound levels and quality will be extremely varied, to the point of making very hard the effort of listening by any viewer of your video. OTOH, if your only intent is to capture ambient sound then you should have few, if any, problems. ... View more

I think there is one major problem that you will have to overcome in order to successfully record your audio and video: given the equipment you have detailed earlier, you are using a wired mic, i.e. one that has a wired connection to your Audiobox.  How will you ensure that that cable does not hinder your presenter, he/she does not fall over it or, potentially, damage either the mic, the cable or both?  I assume you are going to be using a lavalier or head-worn mic? For the project you describe it would be more usual to use some kind of radio mic in order to avoid andy mic cable problems. ... View more

Assuming you not running the 64 bit version of XP Pro, the only version of AA that you can run is CS6.
