The second file you list is the installer. The first installs Audition Loopology, a collection of audio loops, sound effects etc. HTH

Audition CS5.5 was the first version that was cross-platform (PC/MAC). As a result, it was very much a "work in progress" and a number of features present in the prior version 3.01 did not make it into 5.5. CS6 was the next version (and a considerable "upgrade") and, as you say, the current CC version is at 10.1.1.11. I don't still have 5.5 installed but I do have 6 and the differences between it and the latest CC are pretty dramatic. I can't even begin to list those differences (because I'm not a power-user and many of them may not be directly evident to me) but I'm sure if SteveG or ryclark sees this thread they may well be able to offer you some guidance. So, can you "learn" on the latest CC and apply your knowledge to 5.5? Theoretically yes, but I suspect you would quickly find that something you can do in CC is just not possible in 5.5, even ignoring the fact that the latest versions are 64 bit only and 5.5 was 32 bit (only), I think! Edit: as to a demo version of 5.5, almost certainly impossible.

A guess on the reasons for the message: how many times had you previously installed AA CS6, using this specific serial number? I wonder whether the registration server thinks you have already installed it the maximum number of times, (by implication) on the maximum number of computers. If so, only Customer Service can reset your allowance, I think. I remember something similar happening to me with an earlier version of AA. I had to use telephone support to have my entitlement reset.

These two statements are somewhat contradictory, I think! I assume you mean by "full dynamic range" the full range of the original recording, from its quietest to its loudest? If so, and you follow the logic of the second quote, you will not achieve this because the process of your AutoGain will reduce the level of the loudest sounds and increase the level of the quietest. Ergo, reduced dynamic range!

Having had a very quick look at the Mackie pages about your mixer, I think you're out of luck, unfortunately! Fader control relies on MIDI connection between your computer and your mixer. Such connections can be via either 5 pin DIN socket or USB. In the case of your mixer it has no DIN sockets (that I can see) and the USB is audio-only, not MIDI. So it cannot act as a control surface with Audition or Premier Pro, sorry.

As I understand it, "version 6" was the first CC release; latest release of CS6 was actually version 5.0.2! However, I'm not sure what you mean by saying "it has to be compatible with the build on our systems"? Are you suggesting that Queensland education system does not allow any CC software released later than 2014 to be installed? Do you have any means of influencing those in charge to allow you (and, presumably, a whole lot of other users) to update to a more current version? Assuming your Windows installation is reasonably up to date I can think of no reason why the latest version of CC apps cannot be used.

Hi. I downloaded your file and did some "tests" on how it might be improved! I opened it in AA CC and set up the effects rack with iZotope RX6 Advanced "Spectral Denoise" and "Declipper". For the former I selected a brief passage with no speech and had the denoiser learn the noise; for the declipper I had to set the threshold quite "low", somewhere around -6dB. The result is far from perfect but, if you'd like to listen you can download it here. However, I realise that if you don't have RX6, or access to it, you will need to use just the noise reduction process in AA; I think it is licensed from iZotope but is not nearly as flexible as that in the full RX6. Hopefully, this might give you some ideas!

First, I think you need to contact the ebay seller and ask for that code. It is a very long time since I had AA 1.5 installed on a computer so honestly cannot remember whether a verification code actually came with the order confirmation for the disc, so was not printed on the disc sleeve. I don't think version 1.5 required on-line registration and activation but if it did/does I fear you will be out-of-luck! If you read this thread, amongst many others, you will see that Adobe took the registration servers off-line several years ago. This particularly impacted registered users of AA2 and 3, but they are able to download a special installer and serial number which allows them to run AA3 without separate registration. I don't think that applies to AA 1.5, however!

Within the Editor screen you can have only one tab open at a time, i.e only one file "active" in the Editor screen. In order to switch between different files there is no alternative to opening and closing them using the method you've mentioned, or by simply double-clicking on the file name of the one you wish to work on. The current state of the file that was previously opened will be written to your designated Audio Temp drive but not "saved" until you choose the option to Save, Save all or Save as. I guess an alternative is to open all 8 files on 8 tracks of the multitrack screen and simply select the one you wish to work with by soloing its track. I've never tried this but I think it should be possible. The only thing you would have to remember is, once you have finished work on your 8 tracks you would need to export them individually in order to "save" the new version(s).

Assuming you are running the 10.1.1 release of Audition, I just tested the start time on my Win 10 PC and, even though I deliberately prevent the Creative Cloud app from starting when my computer boots, it took considerably less than 10 seconds to open fully on first run of the day. So, your problem is not down to AA but, is more likely, as you suggest, to be a recent Windows update. Perhaps you should try removing recent updates (via Settings>Updates>Update history) until you find the culprit? Not sure what you mean when you write "Why doesn't Audition save projects on multitrack?". Are you not saving a sesx file when you have completed a session?

Since audio files cannot be attached to posts here you will need to upload it to a file sharing site like Dropbox and then provide a link here to allow users to download it and listen. However, if the problem was created by a faulty mic cable or by its placement, your chances of retrieving any reasonable quality in your recording is pretty minimal, I fear.

Can you explain a bit more, please? Specifically, what do you mean when you say the second person "cut those files on multitrack"? To me, if a file is "cut" it is changed = edited, so the session on your colleague's computer must be "different" to yours.

I'm afraid you're going to be out of luck with your desire to use that mixer for multitrack recording into Audition! It's designed to pass ONLY a stereo output to the recording device (your computer with Audition. BTW, I assume you actually mean Audition CS5.5, or should that be CS6?). IF the mixer has Direct Outs on each input channel and IF you have a separate multichannel audio interface you might be able to feed from each direct out to a channel of the external interface, and hence into Audition, via USB or Firewire. The following is a quote from a distributor page (for the USB version) but the basic design (with its limitations) is the same: Musicians and engineers can plug the MultiMix 16 USB FX's class-compliant USB connection into their Mac or PC without installing any software drivers and enjoy a digital-direct stereo connection.
