You can reset the InDesign preferences, even if you have not admin rights of your computer. I work in the IT department of a French press group and none of our users have admin rights of their computer; I can ensure you that they can reset the InDesign preferences, using the keyboard.

Comme tu utilises une version française d'InDesign, j'en déduis que tu es francophone… Je pense que tu as masqué les palettes en appuyant sur la touche tabulation. Appuie de nouveau dessus, et les outils ainsi que la palette Contour (qui est cochée) devraient réapparaître.

Bonjour, NP signifie qu'une image est « non positionnée ». En principe, cela signifie qu'une image est sur le plan de montage. Si tu n'arrives pas à les sélectionner avec la souris, tu peux le faire en les sélectionnant dans la palette des liens, puis en déroulant le menu d'option > Atteindre le lien. Sais-tu qu'il existe un forum francophone ?

I worked on technical materials, too, and everything had to be set in millimeters (I work in Italy). I'm afraid there's nothing to do, since Adobe is not interested to understand that inches, picas and points (based on fraction of inches) are not the global standard. Even if you work in Europe (as I do since I am French), using millimeters to set up document sizes, and text and images frames dimensions, type setting is always done using points. I am pretty sure that there is no graphic designer that is able to work with type using millimeters.

Il n'y a pas de « modèle standard » de style de caractère, c'est dans les styles de paragraphe que cela existe (et qu'il ne faut surtout pas utiliser !) 2. Quant tu dis que tu ne vois pas le nouveau style de caractère que tu crées, que se passe-t-il exactement ?

Thanks Loic, We do not use the InDesign Server version distributed by Axaio. Our version has ben provided by our parent company. Anyway, our third party plugin provider wrote a script to package the files.

We use InDesign Server CC 2014 (10.2.0.69) running on a Windows Server 2012 R2. We encounter a LOT of crashes and the crash reports refer mostly (99% of the events) to ntdll.dll as the faulting module, the other ones are MSVCR110.dll or StackHash. What we tried: deactivate antivirus and running InDesign Server as Administrator. No luck. Does it sound familiar to anyone? Thanks!

No, that's the point. At this time, we use InDesign Server in relationship with MadeToPrint Server to produce our PDFs. The prepress department drops the native InDesign files in a hotfolder, and these files are processed by InDesign/MtP Server.

I'll try to explain more precisely: we use InDesign (client version) and all our pictures are stored on a DAM. So, all the links look like : http://[name_of_the_DAM]. Our prepress department would like to get a copy of all the linked files. Instead of manually packaging to get a copy of the linked files, we are looking to automatize this process, and as we use InDesign Server to generate our PDF, I wanted to use it to do this. Is it clearer?

I deeply agree that sending a PDF to a printer is the best option. But since I work in the IT department of a press group, I often produce user guides with a lot of screen grabs. In this case, I embed pictures, that allow me to get rid of tons of small files. I never encountered any problems. Of course, I do not recommand this workflow for our magazines!

The size of a typeface is not measured with a capital letter. It is the difference between the higher point of a lowercase ascender (i.e l, b, d…) and the lowest point of a descender (j, g, q…) that indicates the size.

Hi, I cannot start our InDesign Server CC 2014 (Windows Server 2008). I have installed the software and was logged with our Adobe ID and installation was successful without any error message. The installation manual states that “InDesign CC Server needs to be activated before it can be used. If the computer is online, activation is done automatically when you install.” However, I got an error message when I tried to launch InDesign Server: “Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit”. Since I had previously installed InDesign Server CS6 on another machine, I tried to use the APTEE to start the trial. I used the CS6 one because I did not find any version for CC 2014, I finally got the message: StartTrial Successful Return Code = 0 but when I tried to launch again InDesign Server, I always get the Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit message. I also read this thread but did not find the solution Indesign Server CC Trial issues Thanks for help!
