Ok so been working 8-10 hours now in photoshop. Finally upgrading to Mavericks. And I can gladly say its now behaving exactly that same as it did in Mountain Lion. Thank you so much for fixing these bugs. Now lets hope Apple fixes all the other minor problems in Mavericks. ... View more

I just thought I share some bugs in Photoshop CC in Mavericks. I had to revert back to Mountain lion, photoshop in general performs better there. 1. the menus become blank at random occasions using a wacom 2. the Polygonal lasso tool closes at random, or refuse to make the next lasso step using a tablet. 3. Keystrokes/shortcuts stops working and you have to make a mouseclick for it to work again 4. the program in general seems to handle ram worse in Mavericks, with mountain lion I have better performance while working on large images. 5. generator promts you to save image before closing it every time, even if you just saved an image. ... I think you are wrong. Because the polygonal lasso tool doesnt close, it just stops adding a new line to your lasso, but it hasnt closed it is still active but you cannot do anything. And then you know that with the next tablet click it will autoclose. I have a feeling it happens more often when the machine is under some stress. But I could be wrong. ... View more

Which bug are you referring to ? The white menus or the keyboard not responding ? If it´s the keyboard not responding, it could be a good hint on how to reproduce. Also, just using the opportunity to ask if there´s any news on tracking down the other Mavericks bugs. 10.9.1 is Mavericks This bug is common, I think it happens to pretty much or everyone using Mavericks with a wacom tablet....in addition to other problems caused by Mavericks as well...like the polygonal Laasso Tool autocomplete. Or like the fact that quick view suddenly won ́t take 10% of the video codecs it did in Mountain Lion. I don ́t know if Apple thinks this is evolution, but to me upgrading felt like a "devolution" in so many areas. And rolling back gave back so much I had to sacrifice in the new OS, in general and especially in Photoshop... If you have a Time Capsule backup you can restore a backup from before you upgraded to Mavericks. If not you have a problem, because Mountain Lion can ́t be bought anymore...then you just have to hope there will be a fix some day. Nope, haven´t heard anything. I´m guessing (hoping) adobe has it on its list of "stuff they are looking into". At least that´s pretty much my only hope - though I´m suspecting this as well as the keyboard problems probably has others to blame. But, contacting Apple for anything like this feels completely hopeless. And Wacom just doesn´t care and just plays the blaming card....So, let´s hope we´ll hear something from Adobe soon, and they can point the others in the right direction. .................................... Just some personal impressions, a bit off topic: I have a feeling that Mavericks are full of problems and Apple is only fixing minor stuff and doesn´t seem to understand or are aware of the major stuff (not that I know how to make them care either). Because as it is right now, it seems installing Mavericks gives you a lot less optimized machine - except for battery (if you have a laptop) and apart from that it only gives you a few minor OS features that are barely anything to speak of. But in general, my machine got out of ram more quickly, I noticed hickups all over the place. F.example in games, like League of Legends, there were interwals of stuttering, as if the machine was overloaded or something - and don´t get me started on the problems in Photoshop . And a couple of times my machine crashed because ram usage boiled over. And that is with 32 GB of ram (!!) and a maxed out top of the line late 2012 iMac. After I reverted to Mountain Lion, it felt like installing a new operating system. Everything was smooth and I feel I can throw everything I want at the machine again and it will handle it with ease. I recently worked on an image that had about 100 layers and a resolution of 75.000 pixels width - I can only imagine how Mavericks would completely explode my machines ram on that. Sadly though Mavericks is suppose to be an upgrade and eventually I will have to catch up - as Apple is all ready making new updates to their suites working only on Mavericks...but right now it brings very little to the table except problems and frustration...unless you are dependent on battery lifetime I can´t see what you really gain from it. ... Yes, you are right. 10.9 and 10.9.1 Mavericks in general with a Wacom tablet in Photoshop only..but it happens to all Wacom tablets and all their drivers. It doesn ́t happen as a general thing on 10.8. Maybe some users have experienced it, but on 10.9 it seem to happen for pretty much everyone. I didn´t try uninstalling Chrome, though seems weird that could have anything to do with in. Because certain ones of these bugs, such as the polygonal lasso too auto completes, apparently only happens in Photoshop, not in other adobe programs that has the lasso tool. None the less, the other settings suggestions, I tried these they wont help I even went back to non gpu accellerated settings, nothing changes, the white menus appear, the polygonal lasso tool bugs and keyboard bugs, no matter. ... I ́m glad you wrote a bug report, lets hope Adobe reads and fix this bug in the next photoshop update. Just to throw in some extra info. The bug isn ́t caused by the latest Photoshop update. It happens in Photoshop in combination with OSX Mavericks. I downgraded to Mountain Lion and the problems disappeared. And I have the latest Photoshop update. But the bug should be fairly easy for Adobe to reproduce, as I think it happens to everyone that has Photoshop in stalled on a Mavericks machine and uses the Wacom tablet. It does not occur when using a mouse. But the fact that it works in other Adobe programs proves its not only based on the Wacom Drivers and can be solved by Adobe as well. ... View more

Still though, my post was mostly aimed at wacom because I´ve gotten no confirmation from them (or from adobe for that matter) that the polygonal lasso problem or the keyboard lag is being looked into. Only the white menus. And, to me that makes Photoshop as unusable.  Only answer I got from wacom was a link to a more than 2 year old thread in these forums about the polygonal lasso tool being problematic, which couldn´t be connected to this current Mavericks bug at all. Yes I agree, its about time we get som status update from Adobe and Wacom. The "we are working on it" can only be an excuse for so long. Though I do really think this is all Wacoms fault, they haven´t released a single update to the driver since Mavericks was released and all the way until about a week ago they claimed their drivers were perfectly fine. What worries me as well is that I haven´t read a single line from Wacom looking into the other bugs other than the white menus. I have not heard a word about the keyboard not responding nor the Polygonal Lasso tool auto completing. Even if the white menus will get fixed I can never upgrade to Mavericks as long as the other two bugs exists - they are even claiming they can´t reproduce these faults, even if they are probably on every computer that has a Wacom tablet in Mavericks while using Photoshop. Yeah too bad Mountain Lion isn´t available for new computers, all of these bugs (white menus, keyboard not responding, polygonal lasso tool) works flawlessy there. But, eventually we all need to buy new computers, so it better get fixed sometime sooner rather than late it seems more and more people are participating in this thread, showing that more and more people are installing Mavericks without knowing the problems that will occur. At the current situation, wacom and adobe should remove all statements of supporting Mavericks until problems are fixed, because customers are being misled. Both states that the software and drivers are fully compatible, which they aren´t. I would assume, even if the White menus are hard to reproduce in a closed testing environment, as it is more random....the polygonal lasso tool bug and the keyboard not responding all the time is something that should be easy to reproduce as long as you have a Mac with Mavericks and any kind of Wacom Tablet. I own a Wacom Intuos 5 and a Wacom Cintiq. I never owned any artpen, just the grip pen. It happens on both tablets for me. I assume the fact that it happened for you with an art pen is purely accidental. Have you tried editing and dodge/burn on LARGE images 5000px ++ with multiple layers. it happened more frequent for me with more demanding images. PS! Also, are you investigating the Polygonal Lasso tool and keyboard stickyness too ? THey are as important. ... View more

I hardly never use dodge and burn but I did get the bug all the time. For me it seems to be once photoshop is doing any kind of heavier processing it could happen. ... View more

Sadly though your solution with intuos 2 isn´t a solution I´m happy with. I use the cintiq and intuos 5, their drivers need to work with that as well. I´m glad though that not only I am annoyed by this and nags them, thanks!. THe more people complaining, maybe Wacom finally aknowledge that they should look into this. for a professional tablet with sensitivity and especially cintiq with the screen there´s really no competitors. So let´s just hope wacom will come to their senses. this recent quote from Wacom is really annoying, they seem to be completely ignorant to all the troubles people are getting with the wacom tablets in Mavericks - and nothing makes them budge. Wacom: Tablet driver 6.3.7 has been tested with Photoshop CC on Maverick and found to be fully compatible. Yes that would be very interesting to know I agree with you, I have a really hard time believing that Wacom cannot recreate these 3 bugs.
