Hello, I'm writing an AE Plug In. I'm using VS 2010 on Windows 7 64Bit. I'm using some optimizations which requires compilation in "Release Mode". Yet, all the Plug In samples in the SDK are given in "Debug Mode" only. I'm aware of those threads: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3568037#3568037 http://forums.adobe.com/message/2614866#2614866 I removed the "_DEBUG" flags and used the "/MT" flag as suggested. Yet my compiler still says the compilation is done in "Debug Mode" hence no optimization is applied. It's too bad, since in Photoshop SDK I have a release sample and there with the same algorithm I get up to x4 better performance. Has anyone succeeded in switching into "Release Mode"? I hope Adobe's people would give us the required information. Thank You.

Hello, I'm building a Plug In for Photoshop using the CS6 SDK for Windows (64 Bit on Windows 7, VS 2010). I'm using optimizations which only work in "Release Mode". In your samples I have only "Debug" mode. How can I move into release mode? Thanks. P.S. I saw the Dissolve sample code has "Release Mode" which really enabled the optimizations and yieleded a much faster code. The question is, how different it is from other samples, namely, How could I reconfigure other samples into "Release Mode". Thanks.

OK, it seems that only executaebles automatically adds their folder into the Path. Since we run AE, the dll's must be in AE main folder, where the EXE is and not in the plug in folder. I wish we could do something in compile tme in order to ask the EXE host to add the Plug In folder into the Path. This will simplify the installation process greatly. Shachar, are you aware of any solution for that? Thank You.

Hi Chris, I'm having the same problem and I can't find a solution in the SDK. I look at the following code: for (int16 plane = 0; plane < gFilterRecord->planes; plane++) { // we want one plane at a time, small memory foot print is good gFilterRecord->outLoPlane = gFilterRecord->inLoPlane = plane; gFilterRecord->outHiPlane = gFilterRecord->inHiPlane = plane; As I understand if I change it into: gFilterRecord->outLoPlane = gFilterRecord->inLoPlane = 0; gFilterRecord->outHiPlane = gFilterRecord->inHiPlane = 2; I should have all 3 channels at once. Yet when I go to the pointer 'gFilterRecord->inData' / 'gFilterRecord->outData' I see a NULL pointer. I'd be happy for a clarification. Thank You.

Hi, Too bad. I can manage the algorithm part of programming, I hopt the UI won't be a deal breaker. I wish you created something like we have in After Effects. Really simple, up to the simple internal plug in's UI (Gaussian Blur for instance). Does anyone has a recommendation for a simple as possible library which works on Windows and MAC OS? Thank You.

Hello, I am a developer with background of developing After Effects Plug In's. I would like to develop a Plug In for Photoshop - Filter Plug In. I was wondering which componentes of the UI does the Photoshop SDK provides. I am interested in a simple UI: Sliders. Checkbox. Drop Down Lists. Preview. Zommed In Preview. Namely, functionality just like the built it Gaussian Blur would be OK by me. Does the SDK provide all that just as easy it is provided in After Effects or do I have to use a special UI library for that? Thank you.

Using the SDK it is hard to create an atractive GUI. Not to speak on implementing algorithms. You made half step with PB. Give us simple easy and abstracted API to implement Algorithms without deep knowledge in programming.

Hello Chris, When a Flash Panel calls a PB Filter how does it chose which layer to run on? Could you allow in CS6 to have a full access to data through Flash? Flash is becoming pretty fast and by utilizing PB it could become a great alternative to develop Filters. I have no C / C++ skills. I need a language which let me concentrate on the Algorithm. PB does that and as far as I understand Flash is also pretty straight forward. So, please make this alternative a viable one.

The SDK talks about the interfaces. Let's say I develop a panel using Flash. Could I run a Pixel Bender shader on a certain layer without using PB Gallery? Or the only way to access the bitmap data is via the ExtendScript? Thank You.

I don't think that would do. The method I know and have implemented estimate the blur parameter using Maximum Likelihood Estimator. I'm sure there are better and simpler methods.

It can be done using 1 image only. Though results are inferior.
The OP, and I for that matter, are not after accurate map of distance from the camera. We're after a measurement of Focus Level / Sharpness. This can be done using single photo.

I'd like Photoshop to have a "Depth of Field" filter which creates a mask according to the distance (Which is evaluated relatively to the "Focus").

I'd like to have an option to define a mask to apply a filter / adjustment by using U - Points / Control Points like in NIK's Software Viveza.
Those control points are much better than the current local adjustment brush.
If you could imitate this functionality it could be the killer feature of the next Lightroom / Photoshop.
In Photoshop this could be the evolution of "Color Range".

Adobe, if you look at the size of the Linux Users Group you may conclude it is too small. Yet, Photoshop is one of the main reasons for that.
Namely, once you offer such option you'll be the catalyst to make this group much larger.
