Playing a video in a PDF requires the Flash Player too. JR, can you provide a link to any Adobe help file or information that verifies this statement?

OP is exporting an Interactive PDF, there are no color management options available when exporting interactive PDF to convert color or convert to destination.

Object States work in HTML5 or SWF only. A button can have appearances for rollover and click, and this will work for PDF. As long as your description of states is an appearance attribute, and not an object state, you can accomplish this, but not completely in Indesign. You will need to add the swf elements to the PDF in Acrobat. And if animations are linear, it might better to convert the animation to mp4 or quicktime, with either format placed in Acrobat, not ID.

This will work if you are preparing a document that you will print on your desktop unit. But if you are preparing a PDF for commercial print, I would not recommend leaving interactive elements, these can be ignored by a RIP or DFE and you will end up with no box on form. And as mentioned previously, an interactive PDF by default is RGB. Submitting a RGB file for digital print will cost more because the black will print all four colors as opposed to one color. For offset lithography, the RGB black most likely will convert to something less than desirable.

Do you need to use PDF as the method to distribute this document? If yes, please realize that interactivity, object states, animation within PDF will not work together. If no, are you familiar with Indesign Publish Online feature?

You can use one PDF exported from Indesign, then use Acrobat to create a print PDF. Open interactive PDF in Acrobat and Tools > Print Production > Preflight > PDF Fixup > Flatten all form fields into page content. This will leave box, but not the radio button. Second thing to do if file is going to commercial printer: Using Preflight Tool > Fix > Convert color to B/W. This will turn previous RGB form into 100% black for print.

Vinny's suggestion is a good way to leave the master spreadsheet untouched. From there, in Excel using fenjas suggestion to prepare column data for merging graphic files are pretty much it. I don't think you really need to pursue conditional merging...

Can you share the files? Although there can be some anomalies with color separation between .pdf, .eps and .ps, for the most part the results should be consistent. The problem most likely is with the graphic or image rather than the export format.

Both pages can have variable content, I assumed that the front was static in your situation. In fact, you can have more than 2 pages in the merge master document, and all have variables placeholders on those pages.

From Numbers, you need to export a csv file to be used as the source for the data merge. In Indesign, to create a merged file that can print front and back, create a new document with facing pages. Place the static front art on one master page, and the variable content on the other master page. When merged, this will create a 600 page document or PDF, alternating front-back-front-back-etc. Also, if either of the sides have bleed, you can adjust the layout with the Page Tool to move pages vertically. This will allow bleed, and not have art cross over from one facing page to the other.

The way I understand the article is that for flash content to be viewed in Acrobat DC, you will need to install Flash Player separately, it is not installed by default when installing Acrobat DC. Perhaps this is different to the issue you have brought up, but I am interested to know...

Flash or swf was never a part of this conversation. The original question was animated GIF in PDF, with suggestions to convert animated GIF to a video format. If OP uses this suggestion for a video in a PDF, then Flash Player is not required in Acrobat.

Are you emailing the files? If so, the client may need to download attachments into a folder first, then open html to view. If they see the Adobe Flash warning message, they will need to activate or update Flash.

Are there any GREP styles used in the paragraph style? One possible GREP scenario I see: a no break character style applied to text with .com, so URLs do not break. The line you show where this occurs contains "belindabrosan.com" and prevents text flowing into column until frame is stretched.

The story editor will display a table like the screen capture. To reveal the content of the table, select the triangle next to table icon. Within the editor, you can select the content of a cell, but can not select a row or column. You can select a hidden cell (My example shows the cell containing "8" selected) and then use the menu Table > Insert. This will allow you to add rows or columns to a table that is in an overflow text frame.

While I can not recreate the issue, in Acrobat, if I go to properties of the checkbox and change any one attribute (like the border color), the checkbox then performs as expected. My original report of Acrobat X was not accurate. The checkbox corrected itself with a visit to the property window. One thing the OP can try, export IDML from Indesign, open new ID doc, export new PDF to see if this cleans up any corruption within ID document.

When the checkbox is checked, do you want a custom graphic to appear in the checked state? If yes, in Indesign, even though you can apply a custom graphic for a checkbox, that unfortunately will not work in Acrobat, only the default Acrobat appearance (check, circle, cross, diamond, square, star). I recreated the check box, leaving the default appearance, and it works as expected.

Browser's use a PDF plugin to view a PDF, and for the most part, these plugins do not support Interactive elements when viewed this way. I see your PDF the same way through a browser, the checkboxes are faintly visible. Viewing the PDF through Acrobat/Reader, the checkboxes function as expected. If you plan to distribute this PDF from a website, where a visitor could view it from the browser, you will have no control over this issue.

The image may have overprint effects (as opposed to multiple effects) to achieve that look. Try turning on View > Overprint Preview in Indesign to see if that is the case. Also, is this an eps graphic? If so, you can try saving from Illustrator .ai or .pdf

By the look of your screen capture, the catalog appears to have CAD drawings. Many CAD applications create thousands and thousands of nodes and segments to create basic shapes, and unfortunately this data overload will create problems writing proper postscript data, including export directly to PDF. The solution mostly likely would be to simplify the extraneous vector data, or rasterize these problematic images to a suitable resolution for print.

Most PPDs will not allow image flip unless you are printing separations, and I imagine that you need composite for a windscreen sticker. Here is a workaround: export to PDF, then import PDF into a new document, then reflect the PDF for the art to be flipped. Print or export a new PDF.

A few notes: A link can go to a specific page for HTML5 and SWF, but not for PDF. For a PDF, you would have your link go to a "Destination" which the destination can be a page. Creating an actual TOC, also creates links automatically and bookmarks with option selected.

Flash Player and Flash plugins are completely different. Having an up-to-date Flash player with a CC subscription does not mean your browser Flash plugins are updated as well. Are you using Chrome to view html with swf? Have you tried a different browser? Can your share the swf? Usually, an errant click in Acrobat/Reader is the reason a visitor gets off track (and the reason I assume you would want to control page navigation). But for the most part, a visitor will follow the desired path. A PDF in my opinion would out weigh any issues that you will have with a swf/flash presentation.

A few additional questions that once answered, can help you in the right direction. 1. Will there be a personalization component to solution. Example: the sales person could add their name or the customer's name to finished product? 2. How will sales person order this customized kit, through a website, through a downloaded app., through an existing application? 3. Will the finished product be a printed kit, or a PDF/document that the sales person would be responsible to print themselves? 4. If the finished product is printed, do you need to integrate solution into existing print workflow?
