re Post 9: an URL link happens automatically. You do not need to create anything in Indesign or Acrobat. If pref is turned on it happens whether you like it or not.

Also, Acrobat/Reader will create a link from a typed URL as long as this application preference is turned on. This pref is turned on when app is installed and most people do not change this behavior. So what this means is, you wouldn't need to define a URL hyperlink in Indesign for the majority of users.

In a text frame, you can set the text of an URL, select it, from the Hyperlinks Panel > New Hyperlink from URL. This will do two things: create the hyperlink destination, and then make the selected text a link with your URL destination.

Are you creating just a hyperlink destination without applying it to text? What is the hyperlink linking to: URL, File, Page, Text Anchor, etc. ? Does the destination still exist in your document (i.e. if the link goes to page 12, is there still a page 12 in doc?) If the hyperlink goes to an URL, is the address spelled out correctly?

You can have bulleted text manually created (i.e. type stroke bullet mark, then tab, then enter text) or automatically styled through Paragraph > Bullets and Numbering. You would only have to follow this step "convert bullet to text" if the bullets are the latter.

Pick up the color and change to lab. The "l" value can be used, just invert it. (i.e. "l" reading is 22, gray equivalent would be 78)

Possibly, the text from the original document is applied a [Basis Paragraph] paragraph style, and the style has been modified. You copy the text into a new document and it takes on the attributes of [Basis Paragraph] of new doc, however differs from the original document.

I have had my forum user account split into two: Jeffrey_Smith and Jeffrey_Smith-6H7DLl I have done the login\log out instructions, and currently can post as Jeffrey_Smith, but all user info linked to 6H7DLI. May I have the Jeffrey_Smith account restored with user info from Jeffrey_Smith-6H7DLl?

I don't believe it is a problem with the permissions since there is only one user account on this computer and it is an administrator account. No changes have been made to the user profiles since the machine was first set up! Have you tried repairing permissions? Another thing to try is creating a new user, login, and see if there is any change.

I agree, the page curl effect in a PDF has no value. For the OP, if page curl is absolutely necessary, produce a swf. And for a truely engaging piece, you would need to take it to the next level, an app or service that adds zooming, searching, navigation, etc. If the piece needs to be a PDF, produce one for full screen view with any page transition that looks just as nice as a page curl.

There is a good chance that the digital printer that you will use, has a cut and stack imposition method. This is a method that replicates Peter's description, except it is done at the RIP and automatically. If this is the case, all you would need to do is supply a file from your data merge (20,000 single pages), and the imposition is taken for you.

If the cut out section that you would like to make transparent is a simple shape, then you could do something with gradient feathers like this. You can do this horizontally & vertically, multiple placements of transparency and various percentage of transparency.

Cell strokes are a little tricky, it depends on what you have selected of the actual table and what you hightlighted blue in the diagram of cell options. In your case, turn off all strokes. Then select the header row, then in cell options, highlight just the bottom portion, apply stroke: color, weight, etc.

OK, you don't have a table border, but you can still have cell strokes turned on. With the table selected, go to Table > Cell Options > Strokes and Fills and make sure all the cell strokes sides are selected then Color: None. After this you should have no stroke applied.

There is a Table Border, as well as applying strokes to cells within a table. Perhaps, you have turned off cell strokes, but the table border is on.

Strokes applied to cells of tables can easily be obscured by guides. Hide guides and frame edges and then you will be able to verify whether strokes have been applied. As for applying strokes to one side of a cell, select the row of the table. Then, in the cell options (Note: what I have illustrated is from the control panel, but this can be found in various places.) select the appropriate part of cell you wish to change.

I think the issue here is how indents and spaces pertain to text flow in an ebook (based on the OP's recent postings). And with that comes other factors to consider, such as Kindle's automatic insertion of paragraph indents, and a device-controlled font size for viewing, and Indesign's paragraph style conversion to css during epub creation, plus many more factors...

Mike, I share your frustration, and I don't have any good workarounds to the issue other than experimenting with the various baseline options for the frame and baseline shifts for the text. And then in total frustration, just creating two elements, the text and the circle.

I have this issue a lot with supplied files that customers do not build with an adequate margin and content would get drilled through. I placed the attached file on a layer, make it non-print, flip for the back and send a PDF back to customer showing the problem areas. One thing to consider, there are various hole sizes, and sometimes custom layouts for the placement of holes, so this template may not work for all.

Mike, your messages always seem to carry a common theme, that Adobe should have a greater role in the direction of color management implementation. But the fact of the matter is the CM directive comes from a broad group serving the common purpose and encouraging an open vendor, open platform, open minded environment (and if that doesn't sound like a load of [garbage: edited by host], then I don't know what does). But really, Adobe's part is no greater than any other group. How can Adobe, as an individual company, improve color management? (rhetorical question)
