Actually I think there i a way of selecting a slightly arker background that will not interfere with the artboard color. Look in the preferance uner interface or something like that there may be a setting or perhaps in the document setup or the artboard tool settings. I think you can. What James suggest will chane the artboard color as well. I was mistaken the color is a very light gray as it is and no way to change it.

Corrupt settings folder or corrupt Font probably or anything you recently added. I would first quite Illustrator and then; I would go to Users/username/Library/preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder and trash that settings folder.

You can also select a a range and a specific artboard. so if make and artboard to the size of the cropped are, you hold the shift key while the art board tool is selected to add the new artboard, it will give you the same effect as the crop area and you can specify that artboard since it will have a number.

You might try opening it in Acrobat and saving with a new name and then opening that in Illustrator.

Yes why no try that again and the library settings as well then repair your permissions using the Disk Utility application in the Applications / Utilities folder. then restart your computer. If this does not work then create a new user account and log into that and let us know if the clears the problem.

You have the image placed as linked, you have to place or embed the image then you can make it a swatch. zbtw it is a very bad idea to put your e-mail and other personal info in your posing there are spammers who mine the forum for such info. But that info if you desire to in your profile and you can elect to have everyone see it.

You can also mark jesseham's answer as the correct answer it will be helpful to others but as both prior posted suggested you might want to keep this on it is extremely helpful and working in groups can speed up things as well so you really need it then keep in mind you can have groups within groups and this is helpful for isolating objects deep within a group. Most important it protects the rest of the group(s) extremely useful.

Tell him to dumb it down or as was stated make a pdf or or an eps. File but tell him to dumb it down. It might also be better to each sheet saved ass a different file that way you will easily be able to locate what you want and it will not be confusing.

That might or mght not be an issue you are having but i have to say taking the approach orf selective choosintgg the answers will not solve your problem if Scott is correct then all the time you spend looking for your perfect software solution will be very costly. Why don't you first check it out instead of dismissing what might be a problem with a $30 solution.

Well as I wrote I realize this was something that was I was not aware of as a feature f the plug in and it seems to work fine. I am not quite sure what the source of your criticism is in this regard but be that as it may be I have no reason to discuss a third party plug in pro or cons unless someone asks about one.

Then make your background and use the save for the web and device and save as a jpeg and chose the option to save image and html. But to be honest I think you only need the jpeg of the background and the html can be achieved in Dreamweaver which it does automatically.

Actually this would not be such a bad fweature to be able to work this way with tools that only did art that could be translated into html code. It would be a good integration with Dreamweaver.

Do you mean as a sliced group of jepgs bound by a html file? Or as all html code and no image links? Explain a little bit more. You can slice the file and export that as jpeg with the option for images and html or images only or html only, via save for the web and device.

As strange as this might sound this is what you have to do. Double click the eyedropper tool in the tool bar, a dialog box will show up. In that dialog box uncheck Focal Fill on both sides. Make certain Strokes and its options for color etc are checked. and click OK now when you. Now you will only change the stroke.

there is actually a feature in Illustrator to do this even though it is not called Extract Images? Not only that once you extract the image you can update it as well you do not have to lace it again and reposition it. When I saw this and realize it was there I could not believe it as it has been asked so many times and there have been numerous work arounds. The reason I think it has passed everyone by is that it is not located in the links panel. So to the chase. Edit>Edit Image and then Edit>Update Image The former opens the embedded image in Photoshop edit it there and then save it then back in Illustrator go to the latter and it will be updated. Never noticed this before. The only draw back is that it seems to only work on one image at a time. I wonder how many users here knew about this little feature?

Scott you are usually right on but in this case you have missed the mark. If you use the attributes panel to show the center mark it does so for the bounding box and not the object. As illustrated here With Kurts brilliant method which should be coded and placed in the control panel a a command you get the the center of the object as well as with James' genius script.
