A topic on an email from framers@lists.frameusers.com was to copy and paste straight from a Word document. Below was the correct answer and it works great. Although a co-worker of mine told me just to use paste special and select text...didn't know that. For our purposes we have to use the "Intentionally Blank Page" with words. Anytime a page is blank, we get emails and questions about them. People think there is something missing. Guess it just depends on the audience you are writing for.

meganew, Just to be clear....once you have this set up with the frame after the para format, it should work for you all the time. Just be sure when you copy formats from another document that you include the reference pages. Sometimes I have had it not show the blank page frame, but you just go to the advanced column and click on the blank page frame after para again. Sooo, just saying this is pretty much a template once you set it up. We also use this for Heading 2 continued. The Heading 2 continued para format has included with it a automatic (continued) that has been set up on the reference page. ls

Hi meganew, I set mine up on a reference page. Created a page size reference frame (See below for instructions on a ref frame.) and then a text box (of course, it has to be placed in the frame correctly for your format.) in it with "This page intentionally left blank." Then created a para format called blank page. In the para designer, click on the advanced icon and select the drop down arrow beside Frame Below pgf. Whatever you have named the frame on the reference page will be in the drop down menu. Click on it and apply. Your blank page should show up. Hope this helps!! To create a reference frame: With the Reference page displayed, select Graphics > Tools. Click (Place a Graphic Frame) to place a graphic frame. Draw a graphic frame the size needed. I have used reference pages for several things. After you complete the frame, the Frame Name dialog box appears. Name your frame....

Hi all, We want to make one book using the parts pages from all our component manuals. Is there a way to automatically export certain pages from multiple documents into one document without just going out and copying and pasting from each? I don't know much about xml, but that is the suggestion, but I don't know how to implement the process. Thanks, ls

Not a FM question, just thought someone might know how to do this.... I have a table in Microsoft Access that has obsoleted part numbers. I want to delete the same parts from a folder of images. Is there a way to do this? There are about 1100 of them and I really don't want to search through 4000 photos for each of them one by one... Thanks, ls

Michael, OK...way over my head, but I did run a script in InDesign a guy gave me...it it wasn't that difficult. I don't even see a window like in FM10 where you run a script from. I use FM9. (I have been searching a little on the net.) Anyway, I opened the toolkit and copied and pasted the extend script in there and saved it....just because that was the closes thing online and in help that I though might work...lol...but how do you run it.... Thanks Michael I will look into that! I don't know anything about scripts, but I willing to give it a shot! Error, for bubbles, I have just been making a square text box and drawing a circle around it for the bubble. The text box and bubble can't be centered, it has to be a little off for the number to center in the circle. Then we group them. It isn't that hard to get into the text box once you have made one with the text tool....and you can just copy and paste as many as needed. I use these to create auto-numbering for parts list, so that if one is added or deleted the numbers will change automatically. Yeah, I wish they would do something about it. Can't believe there isn't more people out there. I don't know....just figure if Interleaf has it, then why not FM.... Anyway...thanks yall!!! ls

Is there a way to make halo arrows, or is there maybe a plugin that has more options for arrows? I know (and what I have been doing) can make a large white arrow and a smaller black arrow and group them. This does work, but when rotating the arrow it distorts sometimes and has to be ungrouped, changed, and grouped back. We use these kinds of arrows for darker images so the arrow will stand out. We used to use Interleaf and it had all kinds of arrows that could be used. Any ideas? Thanks, ls

Found the answer to this in the framers digest mailout (framers Digest, Vol 71, Issue 9). Hopefully it wll help you too. I am not sure about the Illustrator files, but for Photoshop, resize your images so that the last number is an even number. (example: change 3.25 to 3.24) This worked for me! I couldn't believe it! I have this happen all the time in FM9. Do you already have a TOC in your book file with the correct reference pages? Sometimes I have to do it twice, I don't know why, but if you have a TOC in your book file and then make another TOC, mine usually works...just a thought.. ls

Arnis, I just looked up the miramo product...GEEEE that is expensive!!! Pattern Stream didn't have a price, so I emailed them for it. What do you mean by "The PE will have all the functionality of the full paid-for version. The restriction is on the number of concurrent processes (i.e. jobs) and the fact that you have to use it in a desktop setting instead of a server environment (and hence don't need to purchase a FrameServer license - as you might have to with PatternStream as well depending upon how the application is driven)." Thanks! We do have InDesign and I have used it. It would be no problem to update to CS5 if needed. But, my question to you is...Our parts catalog would be 1000 or more pages. Will InDesign handle that large of a document using Access and graphics? I am new to this. In the past we used Interleaf for our catalog, but I wasn't the one that was the guru and have no idea about how it was done, other than pulling from Access and parts pictures into the Interleaf document. I have produced one very large document with Indesign, but it was just in the form of a basic 30 chapter book and just placing graphics where needed. It wasn't database merging...ect. I have asked a little about this before. We want to use FM to produce a parts catalog. After some reading, I came about the Pattern Stream Automated Publishing product. It looks pretty impressive, especially since I don't do scripts.....ect. We use Access as our data base and this looks like a good tool...course I am sure a major learning curve. Has anyone used it? If so, how hard is it to learn? The catalog I read, of course didn't look to bad, but you never know. Thanks! ls

No, the ruler issue is still an issue. If you use the ruler to set up paragraph formats ....ect., the para designer freezes and you have to re-start FM. I am up to date and there are a lot of threads about this. I am used to it. Have they fixed the problem in FM10? Thanks, ls
