You obviously have a problem - it looks like Reader Updater, but without full verbose log from updater it is not completely clear. The best suggestion I have for you is to use Cleaner tool (search this forum for the link) to remove your installed Reader (there could be more than one, please make sure all are gone) Than install the latest version from Acrobat.com (check system requirements first) Also, please delete the posted log - it serves no purpose any longer and makes it hard to read other posts. If you would like to investigate without removing your Reader, enable full verbose logiing for the Updater (the instructions are posted on this forum many times), start Reader, go to Help\Check for update menu and proceed to update. (each User likely has it's own Temp folder with its own AdobeARM.log file) In the same Temp folder there might be AdobeARM_NotLocked.log file - please collect those as well. ARM is Reader and Acrobat Updater. This folder is for downloaded Updates. After Updates are installed, ARM suppose to delete them. All Reader Updates combined cannot be as big as you mentioned. There could be many reasons for that, for example your BITs Windows Service is not functioning properly. I agree that there are some areas in the User Guide that could be improved. The complication is that there are too many variables that affect Updater decision to show a dialog or proceed silently. You mentioned that User is Standard. For Standard User Updater needs to show UI even if Service is available. The reason is that Standard User must provide Admin credentials. Did you make sure that the systems where you have this issue do have Acrobat 10.x installed. Please make sure that you did not use AIP (Admin Install Point) to install Acrobat on those systems. I got the log and here is what it tells me - Your Acrobat is not installed correctly, Updater cannot find version information. Try to run Repair using Control Panel or select Help\Repair from the Acrobat menu. Restart the system (if required) post Repair. After that you can select Help\Check for Updates from Acrobat menu.
