I am also able to replicate this. Also confirmed that disabling lens correction is a workaround for the 'wobble'. I initially could not replicate this but late last night I found that it is as you just asked: it seems that it only affects specific lens profiles? here are the Nikon ones I tested: 70-200 2.8 G ED VRII - not affected 24-70 2.8G ED - not affected 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 grad filter wobbles with lens correction on 35mm f/1.8 - grad filter wobbles with lens correction on 50mm f/1.8 - not affected Using LR CC2015.10.1 on Win7 -bh

The A025 lens model profile was added in Lightroom 6.9/CC 2015.9 / Camera Raw 9.9 Upgrade if you are using older version to get this lens support (newest is 6.10/CC2015.10 and Camera Raw 9.10)

Press CTRL, ALT and O together to show the grid then press and hold CTRL and a small options box will appear at the top of the screen enabling you to change size/opacity (you can also access the grid from the View menu/Loupe Overlay) -bh

When you started the crop on the bottom was there any image rotation involved? Check the angle shown in crop settings,even a small 0.03 angle will not be visibly apparent but can cause the below problem: When you rotate the image when cropping the 'handles' cannot be moved outside of the image area. So if a corner is already touching a boundary you cannot expand the crop horizontally/vertically based from that corner without first re-positioning the crop area within the photo (or change rotation slightly) so that no corners of the crop area touch the outside boundary of the photo.

The UI designer has purposefully done so as there are far more people out here who would complain that they have mistakenly hit just single key on the keyboard (with no extra warnings etc.) and then lose a image or more. So it is very unlikely to ever get changed. If you look through this forum you will find even references that some people still find the existing warnings too subtle and want them more even prominent/harder to mistakenly trigger for making these deletions etc. The method of marking them rejected or any other method of filtering then deleting those images is only a few clicks extra to what you want.

More on this and corrections to it being only for Jpegs: It affects RAWs too. After invoking/exiting Full screen mode with a photo that has Loupe view info turned on: If the date/time in the following photo is equal to the first photo the info does not get re-displayed (it goes blank) (This shows up on burst mode photos) If the cropped dimensions of following photo(s) are equal the info goes missing until a new crop is encountered. (Previously missed this when testing RAW files as they were edited and had different crops applied and no burst shots) The trigger is using Full screen mode with Loupe info enabled. -bh

The ones I tried on the laptop were all LR exports from Nikon D750/D700 camera (all metadata except copyright removed) On the desktop it was a mix of jpeg sources, most were files from LR/PS exports But now as I try it again I am getting random results: Tried with a different folder exported jpgs from LR (that still have all metadata expect person info/location info) I can start with certain jpgs then go to Full screen and back and then the info disappears as you move to next photo and then there are others where it behaves normally. (All of these files where in the same export batch). Very weird sometimes I can move 2 photos with missing info then it returns for the next other times I can move through 10 or more. The cropped dimension is what disappears most often but date/time have too ... I think I found the pattern for the missing dimension text: If the cropped dimension is the same in the 'next' image it does not re-display the value but if it changes then it displays the new value and then all is well. Not sure yet on a pattern for missing date/time

I am able to repeat this using LR 2015.10 on Windows 7 but found that it only affects JPG files: I have the Loupe info 1 set to show: 1 Filename 2 Date/Time 3 Cropped Dimensions Starting with a JPG file in Library Loupe view or Develop mode with Loupe info on: Press F to go full screen Press F to exit full screen Loupe info still shows correctly for this original/starting photo Then cursor right or left to next/previous photo and the either Date/time or the Cropped Dimensions text disappear or both lines disappear as you move through them (seems random to which lines disappear) This continues so that there is Loupe Info text missing for each photo until you encounter a non-jpeg file type and then all 3 lines are once again visible and when you reverse back the text is back in place for the Jpegs. (Or you cycle through the info display modes with 'I' key first) It does not occur when the first image is not a jpeg file when you enter Fullscreen mode. (tested this with nef, tif and dng) -bh

I have included a short screen cast of the issue: With a new catalog I
have added 6 photos and rated them all 2 Star and assigned some colour
labels for clarity to what is happening. Then I applied a library filter that shows just photos >2 stars, so initially all of the photos are shown. Then changed just the 2nd photo to 1 star and checked to see what photo is selected next. This is done once each for the file directory, then a normal collection and finally a publish collection. For the first 2 tests, after photo 2 is removed from the filtered view, the GREEN photo is selected as next photo. But, in the case of the publish collection the photo selection advances to the first RED photo instead skipping past the GREEN one. Really hope some else can duplicate this. Why fixing this is important to me: While re-rating photos or changing metadata in the publish collections to pick "best of year" etc. if there are only a few photos in these collections I usually catch that LR is skipping past these photos as I advance through photo by photo. But, if there are several hundred in the collections I may need to review the collection multiple times to be sure I did not miss any adding extra time that should not be required. Or I have to do this work from a matching normal collection instead. -BH

From what you are describing above it sounds like you have Lightroom set as the default program for your photo file type (I will assume .jpg files) To fix it: open Settings from the Windows Start menu and then search for "Choose default apps by file type" In the list that comes up look for ".JPG" on the left side and then change the Program shown at the right from Lightroom to 'Windows Photo Viewer' or 'Photos' (or your desired viewer program) (You can Google "change default programs for Windows 10" for more detailed instructions) After you make this change Lightroom will no longer be the associated program to open these JPEG files. You still will be able to start Lightroom and then import the files when you are ready to do so. -BH

I have recently seen this error when you have had previously enabled a destination for "Make a Second Copy to:" and then when you open the Import window for subsequent Import and that 2nd hard drive/location is disconnected/unavailable resulting in the error. If I recall it is triggered as soon as the Import window opens before you can modify your import type (Copy/Move/Add)

Can you please show the file details (date/time) for the photos in the final directory? I think you may be caught in one of Lightroom quagmires regarding missing JPEG sidecars from a original RAW+JPEG import: It looks like you may have imported RAW files with matching JPEG copies originally in the same folder (shown as the DNG+JPEG and ARW+JPEG text in the thumbnails). At some point the JPEG copies with same timestamp as the RAW files may have been deleted and since replaced or overwritten with exported files using same name? But these files will have different date/time so LR will show the "+JPEG" file paired with the RAW as missing. I cannot recall just now how it is possible to separate the photos from a RAW+JPEG import into one that is RAW only after the fact so that the synchronization will work correctly.

As DdeGannes said it is working as designed: 1) Virtual copies are created and placed into stacked with original file in original folder no matter where the creation point may be. 2) If created while a library filter is in place then it will seem to disappear as the new virtual copy does not inherit any metadata from the parent file 3) It will disappear when created from within many smart collections. (The VC will not be added to the smart collection unless it meets the smart collection rules i.e only based on filename vs a rating) 4) If only a Collection set is selected when the VC is created it will disappear. (There is no specific single collection is selected at that time, so it chooses none, except in case that there is a Smart collection within that set that has a rule match) 5) If a single collection is selected then the VC is added to that collection with the original. 6) The above may be impacted by sort order for the folder/collection i.e VC appearing at the end of the folder/collection if the sort is by edit time vs capture time. Hopes this helps explain some of the mystery disappearances. The only thing I cannot fully explain would be the case you describe with pressing undo to restore the VCs...There is a filter option that will only hide virtual copies (it lies on the attribute bar just below the filter choice dropdown so it could be hit inadvertently) -BH

In Lightroom preferences in the 'External Editing' tab check at the bottom to see what the renaming template shows. Sounds like you have it currently set to "Custom name - Original File Number" but the Custom text field is blank? The default I believe is 'Custom' with a renaming template of "{Filename>>}-edit" (use the template editor to create this) Though this may be a preferences file problem instead? As that template should also affect files sent to your other editor DxO with the same naming problem and it sounds like it does not?

Looks like your Camera was still set to your local time at home when you took the photos on your trip. I needed to set Tracklog offset time to +6 hours in order to get a match. With map module open choose from the menu MAP > Tracklog > Time Zone Offset

I have been experiencing a bug? for some time when using library filtering in a Publish Collection and the resulting photo auto-advance if an item gets removed from view after metadata modification. To replicate it: Create a Publish collection (Hard drive, Flickr or Zenfolio etc.) Place 5 or more photos in this collection. Apply an identical rating, color label or keyword to at least of the 4 photos Use a library filter to display just the photos that match the above. So, then I have for example 4 photos A,B,C,D (each rated 2 stars) that are displayed in the filtered publish collection. If I change the rating of photo A to have a single star, Photo A gets removed from the display and selected photo in LR then auto-advances to photo C instead of the expected photo B. (It moves 2 positions forward instead of 1) I have repeated this in LIghtroom 4.4, 5.71 and CC2015.9 on my desktop (Win7) and also with LR C2015.8 on my laptop (Win10). The behavior does not change with the Auto-advance menu setting checked or not or with CAPS Lock on/off I have also tried resetting LR preferences and using new/different catalogs. However, without any LR setting changes it works as expected to advance only 1 photo forward if you repeat this using a regular collection or file folder with the same photos/library filter criteria. Can anyone else replicate this? I opened a bug report several years back to report it but at the time it was not repeatable. Bringing this up again as it is still a lingering problem: For example when using a Publish service collection containing any number of photos and 10 photos are all 2 star rated, then I enable a library filter to show just those 2 star rated files. (call them A, B, C, D etc) Then, If I change the rating of photo A to 1Star, A is removed from the filtered list and the selected photo auto-advances to C instead of next in sequence photo B. (it looks like the next in sequence index is checked after the removed photo disappears and not before) Same thing happens with other Library filters i.e. keyword changes. Tried this with 'Auto advance' setting both on and off. Tried a new catalog and have reset preferences. Currently I have CC2015.9 running on Windows 7. (also occurs on older 5.71 and 4.4 installs on same PC) And with my laptop running LR CC2015.8 with Windows 10. Issue exists with my Zenfolio publish service collection and a brand new/never used Hard drive publish service collection. However, if you use a regular folder or non-publish service collection the action is as expected that it just advances to the next photo in sequence. -bh

I just double checked... the "Show" button you described shows the location of the "Current catalog" only not the backup folder. It just coincided that backups prior to 2015-4-28 were stored here too. dj_paige's Instructions below should get you to the current backup folder location.

The backup catalogs for LR 6/CC2015 are stored as .zip files. You need to decompress these files using your OS or other zip software before LR can read backup catalogs.

You may want to try updating your BIOS if you have not already done so. Looks like the most recent update for your Laptop was released Feb 3rd. and release notes say it includes "improved system stability" The SpeedStep setting you needed to disable may have been fixed? Either way glad to nice that you have made some headway on the problem the video definitely cleared questions to what you were describing.

What modes were you trying with the 2nd monitor? i.e just as a 2nd display or did you try to use the external monitor as the only display? At the beginning of your post you indicated you are using Lightroom CC. From your CreativeCloud app you should be able to install the older version 5 of Lightroom to see if this changes anything. The older version does not have any of the Graphics GPU acceleration features that may be triggering a hardware problem with your laptop. (Not saying this is a fix but may get us closer to the root of the problem) You may also want to try playing a 4K video to see if you can get a program other than Lightroom to create the flicker. It may be something with Video RAM and so far only Lightroom is using the upper end? I do not think that it is a case of the laptop being under powered for Lightroom, from the specs I found it looks like it is several steps up from what I use for Lightroom.

Are the tooltips disabled in the Library View options? View->View options... Grid View tab, in the Options section there is a checkbox for "Show image info tooltips"
