er... Im not sure you read my post? It worked with one bit of footage but not with another, nothing to do with lacking features.

Hi, I have followed the tutorial for Mocha without issue, everything works. When I try with my own footage it tracks fine, I quit out to AE and apply the tracking data to the layer Iwant to corner pin, the FIRST FRAME warps to the correct place and size, but no additional data is pasted on the timeline. My footage is pulled from Premiere using "Replace with After Effects composition" (Dynamic Link) and as such is zoomed in and not full screen as is required by Mocha, so I alwasy pre-compose to both the source (tracked footage) and the target are the same dimentions. Still doesnt work. However, If I grab the raw footage internally in After effects, and make new comps, the tracking and the corner pinnign works. Why cant I use ths technique? because the part or the footage I want to track and the target are NOT from the start of the clip, and the correct places are editted in Premier. The only solutionI can think f is to render our these clips sperately in Prem and import them and track them. this is whole extra barrel of work. Im suspecting its some problem with footage resolutions or frame rate, but it doesnt really make sense when if I grab the raw files I can get it to work. Any ideas Mark

Thanks for the answer, I did find a way around it, (time constraints on the job) but the issue remains. The Parent layer I mentioned is infact the same as if I pre-composed the animation as you suggested. I do not try to fade the layers all individually in the animation, but in the parent composition. and yet is still showed through the layer elements of the animation.

Hi, I have an animation and then in the parent layer I want to fade out that inimation but when I doo I see though all the layers that made up that animation, even they are all solid. see below, as the animation fade we can see though all teh elements. Is there a way to avoid this, or must I screen shot just prior to the last frame and fade that? (and have no movement). Cheers MArk

Theres a simple solution to this. And its a fix EVEN if you have already started animating layers in After Effects. Sometimes altering things in illustrator after animating can be dangerous, but this is NOT one of those times. Simply open the illustrator file in illustrator, go to Objects > Artboards > Fit to Artwork bounds. This will increast the size of the artboard to beyond all your graphics layers and when you save and go back to AE, the layers will NOT be cut off. Mark

Ok thankes very much... thats basically "the Old Skool" way of doing it I guess... I used to render all AE and drag it in, then I would send to AE from PP, but alwasy go back to PP and undo (to keep the originals) then render in AE and drag in... (I think because Dynamic link wasnt robust enought to trust then)... So actually now, once I drag in my full res render, i can then just make a normal proxy out of that... shame there isnt a setting in PP to create a proxy or low res view on an imported AE comp... cos ypu can just drag in comps even though that havemt been sent fropm PP, (which I actually didnt know till today- seeing as my flow is/was alwasy PP > AE>>PP for rendering). Anyway, thanks.. @Warren Heaton

Hi, Was wondering what the best workflow for me is. I edit in Premiere and occasionally I will need to use proxys, but sometimes I dont need to. However, If I select some clips and send to After Effects for some compositing or collage/motion graphics work, as wanted, it appears back in Premier Pro automatically. By now however, the composition has become too heavy for smooth playback on my machine, so I would normally want to make a proxy, but I cannot, because its not a bit of footage, but a link to the AE comp. Whats a good, the normal woprkflow in this situation? Do I now need to render out the AE and imported into PP and line it up in order to be able to make a proxy, or, is there another sneakier way? Can you confirm that this really does work as described Kevin-Monahan? I have previously added LUTs into the package and reading this, really do not want to. however adding them to the Library application support folder does not work for me, I know I have 2 libraries, one hidden by default, and have tried both locations. Can you also confirm what type of LUT go into each folder. Technical verses Creative. There has been some discussion during this tread about .cubes and - .looks I also have some .itx files in there too. Or is it just a matter pf personal taste? Arty farty into Creative and subtle colour temp/space conversions into Tech... or what? EDIT: The LUTs I was trying to install dont even get added or are recognised by the browse function, so maybe they are to blame. I will try to add some others I know to work in the Locations you specified...

I should say I normally don't have any issues with this, but one particular project has caused a lot of trouble. Almost not usable now. My normal camera, normal footage, a few animation codec items from AE, but nothing I haven't used before. I experienced a crash. Was instructed to save as a different file, and continued working. Over the course of the editing process, this happened 12 times, and each time I have noticed some slow down of the application. Now it can take over 5 seconds after pressing space, for the program to play. It can be extremely laggy, but will stabilize after a while. What I need to know is: How can I find out what is causing the crashing. Disk related, computer related, effect related? What can I do to repair the issue, so that I am not just adding to it with each consecutive save? What is the CORRECT approach when experiencing a crash? Instead of saving the recovery file and incrementing the filename, should I actually return to one save earlier? and manually increment my saves or use an Auto save? Thank you.

This IS of course the correct answer, it IS AE Basics... but... I admit that I still haven't found a fantastic solution to the obvious issue that occurs when you apply this solution... What of course happens is that you will see your character alone, not in the scene... pedantically answering the question really doesnt give any brownie points, in this case, as you KNOW there's another, follow up question, just around the corner... What if you are animation a hand shake with another character, thats also in a pre-comp, or just running down a street that's scrolling past in the main comp? Or bouncing some text onto a floor? If I find myself in this situation, I open another instance of the main composition window, LOCK the main comp window.. then double click the comp to go in... when you move something in the precomp, it WILL move in the main... but there is a lag... it waits for you to drop, but its ok if you animate by changing numeric transform values of puppet pins or nulls. However.--- an EDIT IN PLACE /greyed out mode, like they had in Flash (didnt they? bit rusty now) would be nice... where the MAIN comp is greyed out but is still visible... Just thought I wanted to add it, in case someone has a cool way of doing this I aint thought of... M

Hi, Is there some shortcuts or something so that I dont have to type in numbers to change the size of things. Both text and spacing and W+H of things... would be nice to be able to use a Up/Down button, and/or keyboard shortcuts. Typically, hovering over a number and using scroll wheel would be one way, or alternatively have the moust become a 2 ended arrow when hovering over the number. regards Mark
