Those won't change, the only thing that would change is font size. I will have bold/regular centre left all done but there would be too many font sizes. I usually start an A4 document with 18 heading, 14 subheading, 11 body, 8 subscript. But say the document is an A1 information poster, the font would be larger. So I don't want to go in and mannually change that. The naming convention is really to make sure what I am selecting is right, I have ADHD so I kind of need to spell it out for myself sometimes.

I am creating a template for future documents in a company I work for. There will be about 50-60 Paragraph styles based on various fonts and sizes etc. At the moment I am mannually namings these Title Font Name Weight Size Justification Colour "H4 Space Grotesk Bold 30 Centre White" Say I decide to change the font size to 24, I would like to be able to update all the names that have 30 in them to 24. Is this possible through scripting?

Please note, the hardware specs are unimportant, especially if there is still some much left in the CPU, GPU and RAM usage. Both sysytems run on SSDs.

I have noticed whenever I open Illustrator, all the apps in my system (including Illustrator), Adobe and others become really jittery and slow. The CPU does not go over 30%-50% usage, the Ram does not go over 50%, the GPU usage remains below 10-20% depending on the application. This happens on both Intel and AMD systems. I don't understand where the bottleneck is coming from. Is there anyway to figure out why the system becomes so slow that multitasking becomes near impossible.

I'd like to be able to use F13, F14 etc for shortcuts, as well as the ALT modifier, especially in actions and across all Adobe software. This will open up the potential for 120 shortcuts that can be assigned.

I am making five booklets and the first 8 pages are the same for each booklet so I have made a separate Indesign file (with the same paragraph, character and object styles and colours) and embedded these as linked pages into the five booklets, this way I can make changes to just one file. I've come to the point I want to make a contents page and it's not picking up anything from the embedded pages. Is there a way to do this so it will pick those elements up as well? I know there are going to be many, (many, many) more revisions to do on this and I don't want to update five files, so a solution would be amazing!

Right figured it out. My object had a fill and no stroke, when I apply a stroke to the object then run the script, it works. Is there a way to ignore if the object has a stroke or not?

The layer I was working on is not locked, but I had some hidden layers, which I made visible, the script however does not work.

Instead of doing all that, I could just look at the size of the object and make a rectangle to that size. I need something that I can just click, like in Corel Draw. I make signs and these boxes come in handy for all sorts of applications.

Thank you for your response, I am getting an error, Error 8705: Target layer cannot be modified Line: 9 -> var rect = app.activeDocument.pathItems.rectangle(y1, x1, w, h);

I am making a transition from Corel Draw, I've always found it difficult because there are so many thing missing from Illustrator that are in Corel and it disrupts my work flow. One such thing that helps me is to make a box around an object, In Corel, if you select an object and click on the rectangle icon while holding down shift, it will make a perfect rectangle (exact size) around the object. Is there a way to do this in Illustrator? Even by way of a script?

I have a JS script that selects layers and another one that moves items to a named layer. var aDoc = app.activeDocument;
var layerName1 = 'Background';
aDoc.activeLayer = aDoc.layers.getByName(layerName1); I want to be able to define all the Layer Names in another file and reference it into the above file and its ilk. But I have tried to reference the file but I get errors. The idea is to apply a shortcut to each scripts and program it to my keyboard. Any help on this?

Thank you! Yes, I will always know my layer names and I can set up the document ahead of time with the relevant script, especially if its a big project.

I have a programmable keyboard that I am using to assign shortcuts and macros to for various programs. One of the things I want to do is move selected objects to a named layer. I always have four layers consistent throughout most of my documents I have scripts that select one of these layers when I want to work on them and I've applied a shortcut to it through an action. var aDoc = app.activeDocument;aDoc.activeLayer = aDoc.layers.getByName("Artwork"); Sometimes while working I forget to change layers and on big projects, this can be problematic and I need a quick way to move the selected objects to a named layer by pressing one key. I'm sure this can be done with a script but I do not know anything about Javascript, I have read the documentation, but I cannot understand it. Any help on this would be appreciated
