That doesn't really make sense to me. If the pre amp gain was set to high, the audio should still show that it's clipping on the waveform? Recently got the Rode Wireless Pros and they've been nothing but a headache. Audio levels look good on the monitor and even on the meter when bringing it into Premiere but it just sounds bad. Not awful but not $400 audio quality. Constant popping and acts like its peaking but it isn't

Just popping in to let everyone know that Premiere seemed to of randomly fixed this issue back on a patch of version 22. I still find it odd that they decided to add a "vertical" workspace but have not added a 9:16 proxy option. You still have to create an ingest preset. Which is not that difficult but the problem was that it was still stretching my image. That was the reason on this post I made. But like I said, they have since then fixed the issue and my ingest works fine. Now they need to fix this slog issue as well as the iphone issue. They're slapping input luts on imported footage. Anyone that has imported anything from an iphone 13 or newers knows what I'm talking about. Its washed out and over exposed.

Never had this happen until macs latest OS update. Drives me crazy when people assume it's your hardware specs. I've done some wild stuff wit text in the past and never had issues. Now I'm just trying to move a simple note as a next layer and my system becomes unresponsive. This onyl happens with premiere. Nothing else.
Mod note: Branched and moved to the main forum. Title was changed. The original 2017 post is locked.

So I uninstalled the creative cloud but it didn't fix it. All of my project save files are white without the software icons. The files open normal but obviously there's an issue of some sort and I would like to fix it. It's doing it will all adobe programs. This happened once before and I can't remember how I fixed it. Any tips? So far Ive reinstalled creative cloud and restarted my mac. Thanks

Never figured that out yet. 4k lets you go down to 1/8. 1080p lets you go to 1/4 and 720 p only lets you go to 1/2. Doesn't really make sense. The best thing you can do is create proxys. Do some research and watch a youtube video on premiere proxys. Changing the video preview resolution in the sequence settings does not change your playback resolution. That is for video that you render out in the sequence. Notice the colored bar above you footage on the sequence. If its yellow its not renderable (Technically it is but ignore that because its confusing) If its red it means that there are some effects you added that may need rendered out depending on your computer specs. Either press enter/return on your keyboard or go to sequence in the top of your screen and click render. The red bar should be green when done. That video that just rendered was saved as a "video preview" within a folder on your hard drive and the file resolution is based on that video preview settings in the sequence settings. Change it to 1280x720 and any video you render will save itself in the resolution. Change it to 1920x1080p and the video is saved with those specs. It doesnt do anything to footage on your timeline that has a yellow bar. The only way to actually have your footage playback in a lower resolution other than changing it to 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and 1,16 is to create proxys like I was originally saying.

Hmm. That is only for rendered video files as far as I know. Changing the video preview resolution doesnt effect the video files unless you render a video out from the sequence out. When you render a video out they get saved as a "video preview" file in a special folder on your hard drive. If you change the video preview resolution settings in the sequence settings to something like 1280x720 and render a video that is on your timeline that has effects on it, you can go to that video preview folder and find it in there. Then right click and choose proporties or get info. That will show the resolution and it matches the video preview setting you changed it to. But as far as i know, changing that preview resolution does absolutely nothing to your playback. Correct me if im wrong. I literaly thought the same thing for the longest time and couldnt figure out why my macbook with 32gb ram couldnt play through a sequence that I had changed to 720p through the video preview setting. Its because my footage is almost always 4k. So I did research and found out that changing that resolution in the sequnce settings doesnt do what you think it does. The only way to change the actual playback resolution (other than lowering the playback quality to 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, or 1/16) Is by creating proxy's. Never understood proxys and oone day I did research on them and figured out what they are. A proxy is a just a lower file size replica of the original. In video terms, a proxy is a just a copy of the video of your choosing but at a much lower resolution and links to the original so you can have smooth playback because the video file is actually 720p now. In premiere you can choose how low of quality you want and the codec. Never choose h.264. Its super compressed and terrible for playback. ProRes is one of the best in my opinion. But you usually want t export and deliver the project in h.264 to keep the file size small. After learning this I started thinking to myself "Why is there a video preview setting in the sequence settings then? Why would I bother making a proxy if I can just change it right in the sequence settings?" Because thats not actually changing the resolution. Hope this helped. I'm not an expert so I im wrong about anything I just said please tell me so I learn too😂

Hey everyone! I'm ripping my hair out trying to edit a simply social media edit. It was filmed vertically at 4k 30fps and even at 1/8 playback quality my computer is struggling. I tried creaating a proxy but it was stretched. So I created an ingest preset "ProRes Proxy 720x1280p". I imported the ingest preset to premiere and ran them through the media encoder and the exact same thing is happening. The image is stretched. Ill attatch a screenshot of the stretched video preview and one of the settings right before I saved it as a preset. Also, I consider myself an advanced video editor but I get super confused with everyones vocabulary. So If you're talking technical terms can you put in parentheses what it means. Haha Thanks guys!

Please dont reply to this and use big fancy tech words that people dont understand just to make yourself feel smarter. I see it all the time and it confuses everyone who was brought here from a google search. Ive been working on a project for a few days. The footage codec is h.264, 4k, 24fps. I keep getting the "spinning wheel of death" everytime I try to move the time line cursor or scrub through a certain spot. And it's not like it just comes for 3 seconds and goes away. It's there for a solid 30 seconds to a minute and it does it literally everytime if move the timeline cursor. My laptop is more than capible of running the software. I use a macbook pro 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, 32 Gb RAM, GPU AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB. I have the Premiere settings dedicate 28gb ram to Premiere. My entire sequence has been rendered. I even rendered out any footage with yellow bars above it so the whole timeline is now green. My playback quality is 1/4 and all of my footage are proxy's. Yes i have restarted my computer several times. Yes my premiere software is up to date (22.1.2). I have contacted adobe 3 times since ive started using this software. I've always had nothing but issues with it. It seems like its built with bugs every update is worse then the one before too. Every time I spoke with someone, it was because of a playback error. The first problem was my own fault because I was ignorant about dedicating ram to just premiere and setting it to performance mode instead of memory. The other 2 times including this time, it was the software. The guy who helped me this time explained the color coding for rendering. I wasnt educated on what colors above your footage in the sequence meant what. Red means it requires alot of work to compute and needs rendered (Unless your pc can handle it). Yellow requires much less. Green means it was rendered and all previews files have been computed and rendered out. So he rendered it out for me and of course it played back through it fine the first time and the call was ended. Literally 5 minutes later it started again. I cant edit when the spinning wheel of death freezes my computer everytime I need to scrub through my timeline. Anyone else having this issue? Or just wants to rant about how buggy and inconsistent premiere is?

This can't just be me. Im running Premier Pro version 15.1 on a mac. Im not having any computer performance issues so dont jump to that. I have a 16in 2020 mac with 32gb ram 2.4ghz processing power. I've had to reboot PP at least 4-5 times in a 5hr editing window to resolve issues. Usually fixing it but then they come back and I have to reboot again. It's hard for me to make a list of issues because it seems like its everything. Invisible keyframes, Essential graphics not rendering, entire timeline freezing but audio and scrolling is still possible, Lumetri color grading effects dissapearing until I reboot PP. It seems like the only places I've not been having issues is with simnple tasking like trimming and splicing. Audio has been fine for me. No issues there. I unistalled it and reinstalled it too. I'm just going to unitstall and download the 15.0 version. Adobe needs to fix these things or I'm definitely switching to Davicii Resolve.
