Still have this issue - both desktop and web. I have a managed enterprise account - my organization blocked generative ai and our team had to submit a technology request to enable it's use. Still in progress, but if you also work for an organization that has a managed enterprise account, that's a good place to start to try to resolve.

@Sameer K Same issue. I'm on a M2 mac that is managed by my organization's IT department, on an enterprise Adobe account. Was using generative AI and expand tool on a regular basis. Noticed a couple days ago was getting error on desktop version (orange). Just tried photoshop web, getting similar error (blue). I'm thinking I need to contact my IT department to get things whitelisted?

Thanks so much Matt for the prompt response. My team has been wondering, so it's nice to have a definitve answer. I'll keep an eye out for news of when it may be incorporated. In the meantime, for anyone who may paruse this post - I did learn you can add words to your Premiere dictionary - although it only works on words with red underline. Just right click - select Spellcheck - select Learn "theword"

Been wondering for a while now - Speech-to-text transcription has been such a benefit, but I caption a lot of meetings that have the same names or acronyms and such appear over and over again, and have to correct them - does Premiere's speech-to-text learn automatically from corrections that I make through find-and-replace? Or is there a way to teach it so I don't have to go in and replace the same things each meeting? Any help/guidance is appreciated!

I caption a lot of meetings, and have lots of names that transcriptions get wrong, so I have to correct a lot. Going to give Speech-to-Text a try - and I don't see any documentation about this questions, so I'm trying to figure out - when using Speech to Text, I'm wondering when I make corrections - does it learn these corrections so it will just automatically use the correct names/words in future transcriptions? If so, what are best practices for training it?
Thanks!

Heya Ghuff! How's about.... let's see.... two things come to mind. Considering Adobe says they release about 6 updates of premiere per year - 1. Cut down the amount of update releases - spend more time in between releases to catch bugs before they release it to the public. 2. When there are substantial changes that will cause workflow disruptions, utilize that dialogue box that pops up to "see what's new" to have a video tutorial that shows the old way/ways people used to do it - and the new improved way that they have developed. In truth, a lot of times the "new" way is better - it's just when you know the old way so well, and then it suddenly doesn't work, and you have to go find tutorials on youtube (with varying degrees of accuracy), it's a bit frustrating. Especially on deadline. @ghuff did you have any ideas?

I miss cs6 - especially being able to use encore. You're so fortunate to have your very own copy of it. Those were the days when you learned it, it usually worked the way you expected, and if it didn't, you just restarted and it reset and all was good again. I was lamenting with colleagues the very same thing, how much time is spent learning new workflows, counteracting bugs - and we noticed that oftentimes when a new feature is rolled out - the new way is prioritized, so the old way that you're used to doesn't work anymore - you think it's just a bug, restart, doesn't fix it - beat your head against the keyboard, and then you have that moment of realization that it must have changed, you go down the tutorial rabbit hole, and find out in order to do something the old way that you did so much you can do in your sleep now needs you to reprogram a keyboard shortcut or some other workaround... or you have to learn the new way.... but there are so many new ways that pop up that you spend more time learning than actually creating. Rant over. I don't have a solution, but if an official Adobe person sees this - please figure out a way to make updates less intrusive to long-time user workflows.

Hi MetaWrap - just staying updated to the latest version fixed it for me. Also, here are Adobe's best practices for updates - it may be helpful for you: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/best-practices-for-updating-premiere-pro.html Good luck! As a diehard adobe user since CS2, I've come to understand that the cycle of bugs and updates are just part of the ongoing learning experience - when encountering an issue - first step is to just exit and reopen - and if that doesn't fix it - check for an update.

Hi Kevin, I ran two tests today - exporting through Premiere's export tab, and through Media Encoder, both using Youtube 1080p HD preset. Both tests, I selected "sidecar," and both tests created a sidecar.... and burned the captions into the mp4. I've attached screen grabs. I also have a two minute video showing both tests, but it's too big of a file to post here. Let me know if you want me to send it another way.

Thanks for the follow up, Kevin - but the solution shouldn't be to start a new project. Why is it broken in the first place? This has happened with a few projects now, and it is something within Premiere that is broken. Typical trajectory: - I exported a draft without captions, captions are not burned in. - Export draft with caption sidecar - select "export sidecar" - NOT burned in - Exported draft has captions burned in, even though it was not selected, but now I have an SRT so I.... - Export again with caption track hidden (eyeball off) so I have a clean file that I can use with the SRT So, the solution should not be "make a new project" - Adobe should come up with the solution please.

OH MAN, I was hoping this would work for me. I'm glad it worked for you! In my case, I set all .png and .jpg files default to open in photoshop, restarted computer (just in case) - and it's not working. And, some - not all - .png files give me this error message when I try to open them. I'm on an enterprise system, so I'm guessing it has something to do with permissions that are controlled by my IT department?

Hi Ann, Tried disabling the welcome page in preferences (save/close/reopen) - didn't fix. Reinstalled 23.0.2 - nothing Tried 23.0.1 - nothing (disabled welcome page in preferences on those versions as well) I went to my windows machine, which doesn't have this problem - and saw I'm on: Photoshop 22.3 Premiere 15.0 Went back to my macbook, uninstalled both, and reinstalled as these versions - and - IT WORKS. When I clicked "Edit in Photoshop" - when photoshop opened, a dialogue box popped up with a request to allow access to documents (or something to that effect - I didn't screengrab it) - so the read/write you mentioned may be the issue? I just don't know how to test or access read/write controls to verify. All I know is, it does work... on these older versions.... that's the news for now!

Hi Ben - no resolution yet. I've seen a few other posts about it as well, and haven't found any solution. I also just tried on a fresh computer - macbook air that I'm using while my macbook is being fixed. Macbook Air 13-inch 2020 1.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 16 gb memory Iris Intel graphics macOS Monterey 12.0.1 Tried opening a .jpg and a .png from the timeline, still just opens photoshop, not the file. I'll keep digging and let you know if I find a solution. Please let me know if you find anything! It slows my workflow as well.

Jumping in here - experiencing the same problem. It's not a psd document, so we can't make sure the PSD documents are associated with the Photoshop version we are using. It would create it itself in the Photoshop version we are using. You have a png or jpeg on your timeline, you right-click and select "edit in photoshop" and it used to just open that png or jpeg in photoshop. Now, it opens photoshop (application) but doesn't actually open the file you're trying to edit. It appears, from personal use and other user's comments, that it mostly just happens on mac. It used to work for years and years and years.... and now it's just hanging at the basic photoshop layout. ADOBE PLEASE FIX THIS!

Hi Sumeet - thank you so much for following up! I just tried resetting app preferences and clearing the plug-in cache as instructed (dialogue boxes came up during the splash screen). Tried again, still doesn't open in photoshop. I also cleared the media cache, as that helps a lot of random problems that pop up, but that didn't help either. Any other ideas?

This has been happening for a while now - and I finally thought to post - because I'm sure it is happening to other people. TLDR: Watch the attached video. Usually, on your Premiere Pro timeline, you can select a .jpg or .png and right-click (or control click on Mac)... select "Edit in Adobe Photoshop" and the file will open in Photoshop... you make changes, save, bam boom you're set. For years and years, it would just work. Always. Never a problem - until.... maybe a year ago? IDK - time is just going by. So, now...... SOMETIMES it works. Now, more frequently than not - selecting "Edit in Adobe Photoshop" will open Photoshop - but it just stays at the home screen - the actual file I want to edit does not appear. Which means - I have to go find the file I want to edit and manually open it - which wastes time and energy - ESPECIALLY knowing that it SHOULD JUST OPEN THE FILE RIGHT FROM PREMIERE. GEEZE. I have attached a video that illustrates the issue. The most difficult part to reckon with is - it works sometimes, and doesn't work most of the time. It isn't consistent in the error. It works more frequently when I'm editing on a PC system (super old but somewhat future proofed Dell running Adobe CC 2022). It works much less when I'm working on my 2019 Macbook Pro (also running Adobe CC 2022). The failure is not predictable or consistent, and I don't know the workaround to fix it - somebody please help!!!! Since I'm on my mac now, and it's the one that fails the most - here are the specs, in case that helps: Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro16,1 Processor Name: 6-Core Intel Core i7 Processor Speed: 2.6 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 6 L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 12 MB Hyper-Threading Technology: Enabled Memory: 32 GB System Firmware Version: 1554.140.20.0.0 (iBridge: 18.16.14759.0.1,0) System Version: macOS 11.6 (20G165) Running Adobe CC Photoshop 23.0.2 Premier Pro 22.0 (yes, I made sure both programs are on the lastest version, it's still not working.) Thanks for your help!
