I have the same issue. No metrics.json file. Loading has dropped from 14 minutes to 5 minutes but that is still ridiculous in this day and age. Henry Rowan henryrowan.pcp@gmail.com www.hrowanphotography.com www.pacenterforphotography.org https://www.facebook.com/pacenterforphotography/

What does one do if there is no Mac: /Users/<username>/Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/metrics.json file? I am having the same slowness in loading issue (14 minutes) as well as the same import / export issues and preview problems others are reporting. Lightroom is pretty much useless at this point so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just Shoot Me... That's how it has always been for me too. In fact irritatingly so at times such as when you rename a new version of an existing file in PS and then have to import it to see it in LR. This was just so odd that I was wondering if I had missed what would amount to a major change in LR. If it is just a quirk then I won't stress over it though when it happens again I will remain baffled.

Wobert... I never use that option in my normal work flow and forgot that it was even there - which is why it was checked Off. If I had, I would have saved a step.

Add to this Catalog is not checked and I was working from the Folders Section. I have added several images to the folder in the same manner that I did the first ones and but they all require an import as I would expect. Exact same process - literally nothing changed but the end result. Going to do some more testing to see what happens.

Nope, changes need a quick trip to PS and a save, but not a big deal.

That's what I thought, so why is it doing it? I did nothing but I have a Folder and 145 jpg images in it now showing in my Catalog that I have not imported. Same type of thing happened recently. Went to show someone how to import and put a bunch of existing files on a thumb drive. Created a new folder and copied the images into the new folder and LR wouldn't let me import them and flagged them as already imported. Why? They were in a different folder, they should be treated as new images as their location is different than it was. I'm not against LR becoming smarter about imports, but I haven't seen mention that the fundamental tracking system has changed but I may have missed it.

You can drag from LR to Keynote and it works very well. The reason to use LR is that you can see the images and tweak it if needed.

When I restarted LR, the new folder showed up but the question now is why? LR created it in the Catalog with no input from me and seems to have imported the JPG versions automatically. Does this mean that LR is now tracking where files are moved to when moved with Finder and not within LR?

I exported a bunch of existing .PSDs from Lightroom to a new folder as JPGs - thus to my way of thinking they are new files as they have the same names but a different extension. I went to import these new files into Lightroom and it won't let me (the files from the newly created folder are greyed out.) The reason I am doing this is because I am creating a presentation in Keynote and I want them all sized the same and I want to be able to select the images in LR and drag them into Keynote. If I can't import the new JPGs I can't do that. Working out of a Collection isn't an option because they are all very large .PSDs that makes Keynote gag. Any thoughts on how to get around this?
