Wild that it's been this many years and Adobe STILL thinks people on iPads don't need/cant make use of/doesnt want all the same tools as those on PC.
I don't think they realize how little goodwill they have left. I don't think they realize that most of us would switch to another company's app if a good replacement existed. Adobe is tolerated, not loved. I'm staying with Lightroom only because I don't have a good alternative on iPad.

Yeah long pressing does nothing for me. I just tried for half a minute and nothing happened. Its so frustrating. I'm already only a begrudging Adobe customer because I can't find a better raw editing app on iPad, and then they go making it worse for no reason.

I've been apprehensive about updating Lightroom on my iPad because there is always some insanely dumb change that makes no sense. I updated yesterday for god know what reason and now I can't zoom out when making masks! What the hell is this? Who thought "let's give our users less control and make it harder to make masks, they'll love us for it."? This is why I never update apps unless they actually don't run at all. EDIT: And I just noticed that I can't long press on a section of the editing panel (like "color" or "effects") to see the before and after. Who is in charge of making the app worse? This is crazy! EDIT 2: Just realized that when tapping on the right or left of the white balance slider it jumps way further now. Fine tuning that way was how I get the white balance I wanted. It jumps too far now! God I regret updating, it was just a downgrade! Adobe can you fix these issues? You've made Lightroom on iPad worse and more cumbersome to use for no reason. Please be reasonable and reverse these changes.

I am still having this issue. Are anyone able to help me? Latest "development" is that I've tried to post some of the photos with the issue on forums and I get an error message saying "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the URL you entered is correct". Which is weird because the dimensions of the files are in the meta data. I export them all with the same settings, but some of them just refuse to be uploaded. AND as I said earlier, the files that get this issue seem to take half a second longer to export from Lightroom and shows a different "loading bar" (looks the same but text is different) while exporting. Adobe, what is going on?

I wonder if they hold back Lightroom because they have issues making some features work on the weakest devices. If so, that's a mistake I think. For example, if denoising can't run in the weakest devices, they should included it on the devices that can run it and not on the devices that can't. I don't have numbers to back this up, but I'm imagining that those of us who are serious about editing on devices like phones and tablets use the better devices. Not the cheaper phones. I am talking about people who use mobile devices to edit on purpose when they have computers they could use. Like no one with a good computer whips out their phone to do serious editing, right? But people with a good tablet and a good PC might use the tablet, I think. Give those people all the features that can run on their device, don't let the weak devices hold everyone back. (Sorry for the rant, hope I made sense.)

Look, I don't know how any regular users could help with this. This issue is not consistent. I've not even seen anyone else have it. Could you or some other Adobe staff/developer have a look at this? I have a RAW file I'm willing to send you if it helps.

I hope this bumps this thread up. I've discovered something new. Sometimes when I export images the "export loading bar" that pops up says "checking" for a quarter of a second before it exports. The photos where this happens seem to be the ones that I can't upload. I had a photo I was happy with and after exporting it I was not able to upload it on my iPad or my iPhone. I went back to Lightroom and decided to just try disabling some edits to see if anything changed. The first thing I did was to delete the masks and that actually did it. The version of the photo without the mask edits uploads just fine. BUT that isn't the end of it because I've uploaded photos where I have used masks, many times. I even tried to just add mask edits to an otherwise unedited photo and that one uploaded fine too. When I exported that one I did not get the "checking message" either. So Adobe, what is causing the "checking" during exporting? Can you patch it?

I'm not exactly sure where to put this because it's happened with photos exported from both the iPad version and LRC. Here is what happens, some photos I've exported as jpegs can't be uploaded. Even when I use the same exact export settings across different photos, they just won't upload. This happens when I try to upload on different websites like Twitter, Bluesky and Reddit on my iPad using Safari or Firefox. It's also happened in the Bluesky app and in the Apple Support app (when I was talking to them about this). I'm not sure where the problem is coming from. I did a screen recording showing how it behaves when I try to upload some photos. As you can see, it's two very similar photos, they have the same dimension and are both jpegs. The one that doesn't work is a little bigger, but I got no problems with other photos that are even bigger. I only show two photos here, but this has happened with many other photos too. Does anyone know what is causing this? (Of course I've tried restarting, or deleting the cookies in Firefox, but this happens in apps too, not just in web browsers.) https://youtu.be/20OsTvu3UOE EDIT: The uploading issue only seem to happen on the iPad, not on my PC. I tried uploading the two photos to Reddit on both my PC and iPad, and it works on PC. But I still get the issue for one of the photos on my iPad. Maybe this is an Apple issue after all? I was talking to them about it yesterday and they had no clue and I was concluding that it must be an issue with Lightroom. I'm just very confused.

I don't understand this approach though. Why not make them the same? Like, some of us don't want to edit on a PC, but we have to put up with an inferior version because "it's meant to be inferior", which is how it comes actress to me" like there are omissions in Lightroom on iPad that just does not make sense. No calibration sliders? No precise input (numbers) for aspect ratio? No AI noise reduction? It feels like Adobe wants people to not want these features and are hiding behind "they're not meant to be the same", while people DO want these features. How would adding these ruin anything for the app? How would the app suddenly not be good or not be usable with these features? It makes no sense. To me, "they are meant to be different" feels like an excuse for not putting enough resources into making the features work. It doesn't not feel like Adobe is being honest when they say it. That's how I feel at least.

Oh I see it now. Yes, that is better than I thought. I want to point out that when you use the "export" option, there still is more taps involved (unless I'm misremembering how it was before. before when you tapped on "export to files app" the export progress bar would appear, and then the files app would appear so you could choose a folder to export to. Now when you use export, you get the window which the file format and quality settings, then you're asked what app you want tot export to, then all the other stuff appears. I guess what I'm saying is, I really disslike when more friction is introduced in an update. It doesn't feel good. It's not ruining the app, but its annoying. Thanks for pointing out the "save to device" option though!

The new export menu requires more clicks.
I used to be able to tap on (I'm paraphrasing because I can't 100% remember the wording) "export to photos app" and it would remember my chosen file format for that export destination. And when I choose "export to files app" it remembered my chosen file format for that too.
As in, I could just choose one of those two to export in the file format I want. I work with TIFF when I edit in other apps, which is when I export to the files app. And I export jpeg to the photos app when I have my finished edit.
the new menu forces me to switch back and forth and is more cumbersome. I do not see it as being better or more convenient.
I hope you can bring back the old menu.

Sure, just please ignore that my photos are bad 😛 Also notice that the Lightroom marks them as being RAW files for some reason. EDIT: Wait this does not seem to work, this website/forum is making them into jpegs it seems. EDIT 2: In case it helps I've uploaded the two HEIF files to my Google Drive. I had to put them in a zip file though because the Google Drive app would not let me upload HEIF files. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UMwLX-xZCBebhD7O-jcVPvWb3xhwRruY/view?usp=drivesdk

Lightroom version: V. 8.3.1 0045B8/34 iPadOS version: 16.3.1 (20D67) 1. Import HIF/HEIF image. 2. Tap on/open image. 3. Pinch out to zoom in. What happens is that before you zoom in, the image looks brighter. As soon as you zoom in a little mit it becomes darker. It stays darker when you zoom back out. When exporting the file to the camera roll it looks like the darker version. Zooming in before exporting does not make a difference. Seems to me like the darker version is the correct one and the brighter one is incorrect. I hope that was precise enough. Let me know if it wasn't. EDIT: Aditional details just in case it matters: I'm using reference mode on my 12.9 iPad Pro with the M1 chip. The images are from a Fujifilm X-T5. EDIT 2: I just noticed another bug, tell me if this requires another thread. Some of the HEIF files are completely white before zooming in. The image appea When zooming in. They also appear completely white in the thumbnail. They export just fine though.

What would be the harm in letting us select a group of photos in LrC to sync to iPad in full resolution though? Like what aspect of anything is ruined by that? I edit on my iPad. I use my PC for storage. I mostly use LrC to have a quick way of finding older photos I want to edit. (Windows takes forever to open folders with tons of files and doesn't show previews for my raw files.) The way it works now I have to go back to my PC to to get my final jpegs because I don't have the full res files on my iPad. I just... I don't understand why we can not have full res syncing from LrC. Sure, my 20gb fills up faster, but it's just temporary. I don't need more than 20gb. If anything, letting LrC users upload full res photos would incentivize buying more cloud storage, I think. I truly don't get this design.

It would make life so much easier for some of us. I only edit on iPad and someotimes I don't edit all my photos. So after a while I've offloaded the photos to LrC on PC and removed them from the cloud. If I could sync them back to my iPad in full resolution, I would not have to use my PC to get my final full resolution jpegs. Actually, why is it not possible? The "regular" version of Lightroom on desktop is able to do it, why not Classic? What is the reason for this?

I'm pretty sure I said that I don't want to edit on PC. I've switched to fully editing on iPad. And unless I am misunderstanding, having a more expensive plane won't make LrC able to sync full res files. So my option seems to be: start PC to choose photos to sync, sync low res photos, edit them, fire up my PC again to export full res jpegs for whatever it is that I use my photos for. If only LrC could sync full res files, I would at least not have to work through my PC to get my final jpegs. I'm so frustrated. Why does Adobe make it so hard to edit long term on iPad?

(I'm sorry about the title, I don't know how to formulate this inquiry correctly. My native language is not English and writing and talking is not something I'm good at.) Here is how I work: Import photos from camera to Lightroom on iPad. Edit some of them, delete others. Some gets kept but not edited or deleted. I repeat this until my 20gb cloud is full. Then I open Lightroom Classic and wait for the photos to sync. Export them all as DNG (to keep the edits.) Then import the exported files. Then delete the synced files from the cloud and iPad. Then I start all over again. Maybe it sounds dumb, but it works for me. I'm fine with all that. What I need a solution for is, how do I proceed if I want to edit some of the photos that I didn't edit before? I know I can edit them right in Lightroom Classic, but I have switched to Lightroom on iPad for a reason and I want to edit those files on my iPad too. How do I proceed? Syncing from LrC isn't a solution because Adobe, in their infinite wisdom, decided not to allow LrC to sync full resolution files. Never understood the logic behind that decision, but I don't think I'll ever get an answer. Anyone else here edit on iPad and backup on PC? What do you guys do?

Adobe makes so many nonsensical choices with their app designs. Why can't I choose aspect ratio with numbers? Why aren't there any calibration sliders? Why aren there panorama stitching? (Affinity Photo is able to stitch many big TIFF files, so I'm sure Lightroom should be able to stitch RAW files, like Classic does.) Why when I sync photos from Classic to LR on iPad is the resolution so low? Im sure there are more little things like that which I'm not remembering right now. Adobe, you should strive to get all the features in Classic into all other versions of Lightroom. And also, what is with this video editing stuff? Is it really something people have been asking for? Am I just out of touch? Personally I don't know why I would want Lightroom for video. There are so many other features I'd rather have, but Adobe is focusing on video for Lightroom? I'm just so confused. Personally I have almost entirely switched to Lightroom on iPad and I wish Adobe would give us the features that I got used to on Classic over many years of use.

Yes I can see that, but that is slowing down my process a lot. Why force me into that mode every time? If I need to change one of them, let me go back and change it. Don't ask me if I want to change it immediately every time.

Sometimes I don't get as smooth results with the Remove tool as I do with the Heal tool. I don't understand though, even if the Remove tool was perfect, why add that button to the Heal tool? Why slow down how that works? Edit to clarify: Sometimes the Remove tool gives ugly results when removing dust spots. Not always, but sometimes. So that means I would rather just use the Heal tool for that task. But now I'm being punished for not using the new tool instead, and I don't understand why.

When healing dust spots on photos I now have to tap on a "done" button EVERY TIME I heal a spot! Why did you implement this at all? Did you have people test it before implementing it? It is incredibly frustrating to heal dust now!
Can you please remove this?

I have tempo a "solution": If you make some adjustments to the Calibration sliders to a couple of DNG(!) files in Lightroom Classic and then sync those to the cloud, those adjustments are represented in the iPad version of Lightroom. Then you can copy the adjustments made to those files over to other files in the app. I've started doing that and it works okay. The big problem is ofc that you dont get any gradual control over the sliders. So the best way to get the look you want is to sync as many different files, with different adjustments to the sliders made to them, as you can be bothered to. And don't adjust anything else, that will just be annoying I think. Maybe everyone else has been doing this for a long time, and I'm just slow, but I thought I'd share just in case it's useful to anyone else.
