Firefox - Server Not Found

With the last 2 versions (last update yesterday) of Firefox I have had problems with "Server Not Found" or "Unable to Connect" or some other variation.  This happens on 2 computers with 2 different OS.  It usually happens initially when I try to connect to Adobe or some other site.  Once I get a connection to some site, any site, then I can go back and connect with the "Server not found" site just fine.  Seems like it needs to be trained how to work.

It is very annoying and wonder if others have experienced this.  I do not like MS Explorer, but am considering a move to another browser.  My wife has gone to Google Chrome (as she inadvertly downloaded it last week) and the "Server not found" problem dissapeared.

What browsers are better than Firefox now, or is there some setting I need to tweek?

I use Firefox with good success. Recently I had an issue where things weren't working quite right and it appeared that th forums weren't working at all. What it turned out to be was the virus scanning software I was using. At the time it was AVG and I switched over to using Avast and haven't had many issues since. As I recall, the issue appeared after AVG updated. Something got clobbered in the process.

Anti-virus programs are always suspect, but in this case both machines have different programs, so I ruled that out.

I was hoping that the update yesterday would solve the problems as there have been quite a few blogs on the issue.

Yeah Firefox seems to have adopted the usual "bloatware" standard of mid-life software.

Opera is more customizable and feature-rich than my recommendation, but compatibility can be an issue at times unless you're willing to tweak site-specific settings.  (For example it has similar problems as Firefox accessing these forums from what I've seen.)

Here (Adobe) I use Chrome exclusively.  I would never dream of accessing this Jiveware via any other browser (and expect it to be usable).  It sounds like you've already found your replacement.  A lot of people are switching from FF to Chrome.  There's little keeping me attached to Opera anymore at all, just a few features here and there, but since it's new CHROME is the winner on speed (my #1 requirement).  Opera used to be on top with this but even it is going down the bloatware path, although much slower than FF.

I fully expect Chrome to be slow as dog poop five years from now too (setting the stage for yet another replacement...), but for now Chrome wins.  Only reason to switch to something like IE or whatever is for poorly coded sites that are browser specific.  (Keep in mind this is coming from someone very skeptical of knee-jerk acceptance fads (fueled by Google's current popularity) - but here I can see that they really do have a great piece of software.)

Sorta depends on what you feed the dog as to whether the poop is slow or not, eh?

Its not a problem with FiresFox.

Most likely its probably on Adobe's end  or some where between Adobe and your ISP.

It happens with many different sites, usually on bootup, even a search for a common word.  Once it makes a connection then it works.  Most strange.
