How Turn off Bold

I am using Contribute 3.  Some text is bolded and I would like it not to be.  It seems no matter what I try to do - select and press bold or change the style to normal, I cannot get this to change.

I am used to formatting in Word and don't see why this is so difficult.

Help would be appreciated.
