The "lazy question" Thread

Bit of fun for our amusement.

Add to the thread by QUOTING what you consider is a lazy question from a lazy poster...

Lack of hardware or system details  wont usually count...and be careful about second language  situations.

Rule: NO discussions in the thread.  Let the quote speak for itself and stand alone.

Be careful it doesnt back fire on you

Yeah, writing and making money at it is tough. There's a friend I know just fiinished a new book and 2nd edition of first one.. and is now into promo for them.. which is a whole nother thing.. a lot of time and work. Book signings, speeches (his books are like motivational things and business oriented management things .. not fiction )..
So he is into that now and it takes a lot of time and stuff... but you put aside that clump of time and do it.. and when it's done you can move on to the next " project"

It's been good for him and pays off but it is  a lot of work and dedication etc. I'm sure it really sucks some days... to keep plodding along.. but he's self disciplined and strong.

But that's his life .. for like the past 30 years.. like many who work in weird stuff where it's not staff and steady.. he made it work for him. Working freelance or per diem is the same thing in some ways.. ( like what I did ). But thank goodness I got a pension coming and had health insurance and so on. Only the unions for actors, crew, musicians, directors, cameramen, all those people... only getting together as freelance workers were they able to get some benefits like that. When you're young that doesnt matter much.. but when you get over 20 years old and get married and stuff .. then it matters.

Unfortunately the word  " union " is generic and misunderstood depending on where it is applied. I have no interest in making those distinctions anymore to anyone. I hope the young people have the balls to speak out about what they have inherited. and do a good job.

oh, and that includes saying, " no I am not setting up the camera on that rallraod tressle .. you moron ! ... unless you get some railroad person here with flags and lights and signals and walkie talkies .. so I know I"m not gonna get squished like a bug and die out there ! "

union or not ( member or not ) jurusidiction is another thing.. ( my union was NYC .. if I went to Africa I aint crying to the union about rules..and to be honest I AM THE UNION .. ITS NOT ANYTHING MORE THAN YOU AND ME ... how can you think it is something other than YOU AND ME ??? ....)

Like this country.. THIS LAND IS MY LAND, THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND ... WHO IN GAWDS NAME DO YOU THINK IT BELONGS TO ? OR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR IT ?

I understand that some questions can be frustrating, but you are reminded of the Community Guidelines about how to treat new users. Highlighting someone as 'lazy' by linking to their messages is not acceptable.

Giving this some thought, perhaps Dave is right. It has been fun, and a good way to release a litle irritation, but maybe it was not the best way.

I can see Dave's point, certainly.

On the other hand, I can see how the creation of such a thread would come about.

Maybe, just maybe, we should err on the side of political correctness, or in this case, the Guidelines and have the thread deleted.

I don't know. I can see both sides and it makes it difficult to come up with the right answer.

Once upon a time, a decade back or so, there were rewards, of sorts, for participating in the forums. Not based on points, because those came much later.

The rewards were that some people were selected to beta test the software, and with enough participation in the beta program came free software. The beta testers often came from the forums.

I don't know if there is still such a thing going on. I am not part of it anymore if it is. I dropped out about CS4 and my lack of participation resulted in me never getting another free upgrade after CS3. Which was fair.

I believe that the points are supposed to serve a purpose in that newbies can tell who has offered lots of correct or useful answers. But I seriously doubt that most newbies realize that so the point is rather moot.

But it is possible that there is still a beta program and useful answers are used in determining who gets free software. But anyone who gets it can't tell us that they get it because they would sign an NDA. So I don't know.

I don't know about lobster, but back when I lived outside of California I got invitations to participate in stuff going on in San Jose. Of course now that I can actually attend such things the invitations have stopped. I imagine that there might have been some free lunches involved back then.

Conversely there is an argument that a MVP with four stars is spending so much time on the forum answering questions that they cannot possibly be spending many hours working and hence actually using the software productively.

Ergo, those that cn do those that cannot teach.

The free lunch issue.....the fourth law of business states.....there is no such thing as a free lunch.

i understand what you mean by this and undrstand why you would say this, but i didnt have time to search through 100 different disscussions and 100 different post in each disscussion to sift for the working answer. you should understand that some peoples time is precious and need a quick answer and have to do other things in their lives besides read for 3 hours on message boards. im not trying to be mean here, im trying to help you understand what i have going on and i vaule my time as i do yours.
