Type & Typography

This is more of an item for the Adobe "suggestion box." Now that there are many large format applications for design work, such as 4k, and even 8k film and UHD sizes for titling and image-making, shouldn't there be some larger defaults in the type size drop-down menu across all the programs/apps? 72pt looks like 14/20pt relative to the document size, and our formats are growing larger all the time. It seems it might be time to expand the horizon of typography defaults. I can go all the way up to 2000pt with a standard font like Myriad Pro with the word "Hello" and not even be approaching the boarders of a 4k UHD canvas. I don't know how the current increments were determined, but I do know they've been around forever, and the ceiling needs to go way up. I realize the numbers are there, and I can type whatever I want into the field, but if they're there for convenience and blocking out rough sizes, additional options would be nice. Help Our new website is going to compete in the Netherlands with other web2print sites. However because of our history with co-creation we will be focussing on enabling our customers to create a document online and then have it printed instead of uploading a readymade pdf.Main question: how can we implement the fontfolio collection (or a simular product) in the right way, and at what costs. In this way allowing us to sell our print-editor and created products in a fair way - delivering end2end value to all parties.

We would like to use an Adobe Font Family on two Azure hosted SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) servers. Can anyone give me a clue as to:How do I buy/license the fonts for installation and use on a server?How do I find out how much they are?Why is it so painful to find this information out?The font family I'm interested is Garamond Pro.Thank you.

I made a textbook for my training and also PowerPoint presentations with same fonts that I used in the book. Looks really good! Thanks Adobe. I did know that CC fonts are only for those who keep paying for CC, so I embedded fonts to the document. For my great surprise, when I open the document without internet connection or with a computer that hasn't CC installed, fonts are substituted with awful ones!I have already used these same fonts for Word-documents which I have sent by e-mail. Now I realise that the same substitution must have happened for those which has in essense made me look like retard who can't use basic office apps. Is it really so, that fonts from CC can't be used in documents that are opened in computers withthout CC installed or without internet connection?

Hi thereI have a PDF that when I open it with Edge, it looks fine.  If I use Adobe Reader, the font is not displayed correctly.  The manufacture of the software I use to create the PDF tells me I have corrupt windows fonts and I need to reset my laptop back to the start.  Is this correct as I have a lot of music files that will take hours to back up, and software that is locked by server to activate, so to reset the laptop and inactivate the software is a pain too.The font I have issues with is Ariel.  For some reason Adobe requests a font pack "Asian extended" to be downloaded and installed.  This doesn't fix the issue.Any ideas on how to fix?RegardsGary(Screen Shot - Edge)(Screen Shot - Adobe)

I have already bought adobe's font folio education essentials (2014, $150) and recently got a new laptop. I need to have these fonts on my new computer but am completely unable to find a way to re download them?(they still work perfectly on the old one) (I would be willing to remove them from my old laptop but I would need to know that there would be a way to put them on the new one beforehand) (I have tried calling, chat, searching through the forums, IT department at my university and asking professors.... no one has had a clue what I should do, and the call centre tells me to use the online chat, the online chat tells me to use forums)

I got the Hypatia family of fonts from Adobe a while back. However, I have  a persistent issue in word documents where the page breaks in preview mode and print mode (be that to a printer, or Adobe pdf, or Microsoft pdf) are  different. If I substitute another font (e.g. aerial, times) in place of the Hypatia font the problem does not occur. Is there something in the Hypatia font family that causes this to happen or is there a setting I need to adjust?It's a great looking font and I really don't want to have to switch to  another.Thanks for any suggestions.

I actually could hardly believe it. Is Adobe Really that lazy that they can't just repackage the installer so it will work on a 64bit version of windows? Well, it seems so. I went to my coworkers computer, who has the same version of the software as me, and simply copied the whole folder from his computer to the (x86) program files folder. When I tried to run it, the software gave me an error that there was no database in windows, but it let me create one. Everything worked fine. I added our company font set, and they are working fine in Photoshop and Illustrator. I didn't check AE, Encore, or Premier, but I assume those are fine as well. So it looks like all you have to do is install it on another 32bit computer, and just copy the files over. Someone should test that on Vista too. I hear it doesn't work in Vista? Just make sure if you install it somewhere else Just to copy it to the licensed version, you uninstall it on that computer after you are finished copying it. Hopefully A

Hello, I purchased the Postino font for a presentation last year, downloaded onto one machine only (confirmed in Adobe order history), but am now using a new laptop.  Do I have to buy the font again, or is there a way to continue use based on the earlier order?  (I don't see a download button).Cheers.

Years ago, I purchased Adobe Garamond and Adobe Caslon fonts for typesetting books. These are professional-level fonts. Each family contains not only the standard typefaces, i.e., plain, bold, italic, bold italic, but other weights as well. Also, they contain "expert" additions, such as ornaments and expert typefaces which are small capital letters, fractions ( 1/4 ) etc.I purchased the fonts to use them in a number of different applications, some for typesetting (READY, SET, GO!) and other word processing applications, and they worked properly, of course. I'm using Mac OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan, and the fonts no longer work properly. If I select Adobe Garamond or Adobe Caslon and apply that to some text in Apple's Pages application, the text is then shown correctly in the Adobe Garamond or Caslon typeface. If I try to use agaramondexp (Adobe Garamond Expert), AGARAMOND TITLING, or any of the other "expert" typefaces in Caslon, the text is converted to a sanserif typeface.These all work

We have just installed Adobe CC onto an existing workstation there are fonts that are installed on the PC that Illstrator are now saying are missing but when you try to install them again it just gives the message that they are already installed ???Any clues as to what to do to fix.RegardsGavin

I hope you're all well. From the Adobe Font Folio 11 I've recommended Stempel Schneidler Std Roman to a publisher client for a children's storybook, but the question mark character (?) is strange — The dot is at the base as you would expect but the main stroke has been rendered upside down! It's not usable, so I have to recommend Palatino just for the question mark, using search/replace. I see that another storybook published by Walker Books is set in Stempel Schneidler Roman and the text has question marks that are normal and recognisable. Can I buy this version from Adobe or is there another solution?

This was available for years but can't seem to locate it - in this case, I'm trying to see the specimens of Adobe fonts that are outlined to get an idea of what the fonts look like etc. Is this no longer available?

Hello,I am trying to create bitmap font for "HINDI" language.I am using Lohith-hindi.ttf to generate bitmaps using the unicode range of character set for Devanagari Fonts.But, as Hindi Language contains a lot of complex characters, ligatures, joint consonants etc,it is not able to reflect the entire character set in the output generated.Hence, the ligatures are not coming up.I have searched a lot if different forums etc, but no luck.Just wanted to know, is it possible to create Hindi Bitmap Fonts, which would convert a hindi string like this "दोस्त" correctly and not make it I really have no idea, whether localization should be done with bitmaps or not. I am implementing this in one of the game I am making.If anyone has any idea about it, please ping me back.Thanks in advance
