Hello,I have several Adobe fonts on my system with slightly different names. I tried to see which is newer by looking at Creation and Modification dates without much success (details too lengthy for here). Can someone please tell me which would be the newer version by the font name? Here is an example:MinionPro-Regular.otfMinionProRegular.otfWhich would be the newer font? Does anyone know the major differences between these fonts? Why was the name changed? Any reason to keep the older fonts? Restrictions on the new fonts?Should I wait for CS5 before making changes to my fonts? I mean, could we expect more changes or updated fonts. (I know, you can't tell me much about that; but, there may be a history that would yield a probability...)Thank you!
Hi,I have some issues with fonts. I am using a Mac OS X and i have installed the fonts into font book. The installed fonts are showing up in my Photoshop CS3 font list but are missing from my Flash CS3 and CS4 font lists.I am using .otf fonts.Any help will be really appreciated .Thanks,
Hi everybody,I'm a student doing a uni assignment which asks that we find examples of typefaces from different categories. The ones I'm stuck on are these:• humanist axis• vertical (rational axis)• implied vertical axis• no axis• sloped romanIf someone could please post examples and/or links to definitions of these categories (I've searched in books and on the net to no avail), that would be terribly appreciated 🙂thanks again!Steph
I am working mainly graphics and my work is getting much better...But as I look back at my portfolio, I keep noticing the same problem again and again. My typography just doesnt POP!!!It is definitely my achellios tendon and needs to be addressed, the problem is that in searching the net for information on it, what I stumble on most are typography works that are nice and pretty but not functional.I need advice from someone who is good with it, where do i go, what do I buy, to help kick my typography up a notch???Any advice/help is appreciated!
Hi,I currently use Suitcase and am a little frustrated with it, mostly because I find it difficult to manage client fonts and your own font library and make sure that the correct font is activated. I dont' like the concept of the font vault. So, I'm shoppping around for other font management software. I'm curious to hear which ones you all think are best? I've heard great things about FontAgent Pro and Font Xplorer. Which do you recommend for a graphic designer needing to manage client's fonts and a very large font libarary (20,000+ fonts)?
Hello,I am working on a project where I need to get graphic outline details (like line, curve, etc) from the font files (.otf, .cff, .ttf, etc) for given character. For example: I have .cff font file and a character (say character 'A'). using that I want the actual graphical information for that character which can be printed to bitmap canvas.I am using c#.Net and ultimately I want to create captcha (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAPTCHA) runtime. But I dont want to install the fonts in my windows directory.I am not sure whether this technique is known as font parsing or text rasterization, What is the correct name of this technique? Can anyone please provide me the information about the algorithm? Thanks,Hardik
Hello,I am sure this has been asked before, though I could not find any discussion thread. There are a number of fonts, for instance several Adobe OpenType, that do not show up in CS4 (Photoshop, Illustrator). I run CS4 on a Mac [Leopard]. I also have Extensis Suitcase Fusion ver 2. I did find differences in installation between the Mac HD and my user font folders. However, copying a font type from one folder to the other does not make it appear in the CS4 application.I am attaching a screenshot of Suitcase Fusion showing some of the fonts,Any help is extremely welcome.Best,Gustavo^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Owl Design StudiosSanta Fe, NMwww.owldesignstudios.com
Hello everyone.I need some SERIOUS help so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm currently in the process of Producing a video game which is using Minion Pro (Bold and Medium). I've been trying to call anyone and everyone at Adobe to figure out what I need to do to license this particular font for my game but after three weeks I still don't have an answer. That said, I've come to understand that if I've bought a copy of Adobe Suite (which includes the Minion Pro font) the license allows me to use the font commercially. Meaning, I can legally use the Minion Pro font in my game.Is this valid? Can anyone provide insight on this? If not valid, what do I need to do to secure a license?Help please!
Hi, I'm familiar with some of the general rules for kerning, such as:-The distance between a straight and a round ( and vice versa) should be slightly less than two straights.-The distance between two rounds should be slightly less than a straight and a round. But what about diagnols? Where do they fit into all of this? Thanks very much in advance for your help.
Anybody recognize this script? Thanks for any help.
Anyone have an idea what this is? I've tried WhatTheFont? and Identifont, but no matches. It is akin to Avant Garde, but not exactly. The "y", "g" and "e" are stumping me.Thanks in advance.-JM
I'm an illustrator and contributor to iStockphoto.I would like to use fonts that I have licensed from Adobe with my purchase of CS4 and other fonts I have licensed on Adobe's web site in logo designs that I would like to upload and sell through iStockphoto. The font software itself would not be sold. I would be converting any fonts I used in my logo designs to outlines in Adobe Illustrator before they were offered for sale. Is this use of fonts licensed from Adobe permitted under Adobe's EULA?I've searched the forums and found questions similar to this, where the answer seemed to indicate this is permitted, but I'm not sure if those answers addressed this particular situation. Thanks for any information!-- Mike
Hi,I'm posting this here in the hope of bringing the following issue to the attention of the folks responsible for font development/design at Adobe (and perhaps other affiliated type foundries). Most fonts have feminine and masculine ordinal indicators: ª and º (accessed at Alt-166 and Alt-167 respectively). They are used in Spanish and Portuguese, and perhaps other languages. While these characters are also used in other functions, they are mostly used as gender-specific ordinal indicators (2nd = 2ª or 2º, 3rd = 3ª or 3º and so on).In Spanish and European Portuguese, AFAIK, these gender-specific ordinal indicators may or may not be underlined. In Brazilian Portuguese, they are supposed to be underlined. When the underlined ordinal indicator is missing, the alternative most people use is to use the lower case "a" or "o", then underline and superscritp it. (You cannot simply underline the ordinal indicator, as that would result in a superscript "a" with the underline way below.) Another m
The “Warning Pi Lt Std” didn’t display characters properly in all software including InDesign CS3. The problem didn’t solved even downloaded the new version of font according our customer hotline advised them to do. What I can do?
HiMy printer is complaining that my justified text makes it look like there is no space after a full stop. In some cases, it does appear this way.Is there any way to set a minimum or uniform amount of space after each full stop, within justified text? I have searching this forum + google but did not find an answer. Many thanks..
Hi there,I'd like to purchase the following fonts, and cannot find these exact names on the Adobe site. Wondering if you could please clarify which I need to purchase. These are the typefaces:TradeGothic LT (TrueType), Version 6.1; 2002&TradeGothic LT Bold (TrueType), Version 6.1; 2002Thanks,Val
I have 2 fonts here that I am trying to identify. I've already tried WhatTheFont on these with no success. Thanks,JM
I'm re-designing this website and trying to figure out what font the original designer used for the logo so I can use it for headers... Anyhone recognized this font?thanks for all your help!brent@mimoYmima.com
I have tried WhatTheFont with no luck so far, so I'll try it here too.I need to recreate this logo - all they have is this JPEG from their website, the creator of which is no longer available.Ignore the Zapf Chancery on the left - I'm after the 2 faces on the top right and bottom right. WhatTheFont suggested Penumbra Serif and Schneidler for the top one, but neither of those is right. For the one on the bottom it suggested URW Linear, Ocean Sans, and Swank Gothic, but those aren't right either.
I purchased Bembo and Bembo Italic from Adobe last week for my new system. It seems to make thing run badly in InDesign but it sort of worked but it caused my Final Cut Studio and other applications to crash and become inoperable. I reinstalled FCS many times and finally had to erase my hard drive and start over.Font Book confirms that Bembo has "Serious errors" and reocmmends removal. Once removed, everything works fine.I am designing a second edition of a book and I need Bembo. What can I do? Any workarounds or fixes? Or anybody know of a very similar font? I love Bembo for the books I'm doing and I've used it in several books without problems.Problem seems to be related to recent installation of Snow Leopard.
I am working a logo for someone and their site is based on a current popular video game. The title of their site has the video games title in it and I have worked up a font that resembles very closely the games font, but is in fact created by me.I am hoping someone here might know the legal ins and outs of doing such a thing? Is it still risking copyright infringement if the font resembles but is not that of another company? And otherwise, how far must one change their font before it is then free and clear to be used in this manner? Thanks for your help!
Client's files were created using Font Folio OTF, version 10. We have Adobe Font Folio OTF, version 11 (since Version 10 was no longer available at time of purchase). When opening client's InDesign files, ALL Mathematical Pi LT Std OTFcharacters show (and PDF) as a multiplication dot. Originally we thought that the problem was font embedding, since most of the InDesign files we've received from the client consist of placed, linked, and locked references to base files. However, we've also received unlocked, standard InDesign files and the problem persists. We have tried emptying font caches, reinstalling fonts from the original disk (and emptying font caches again), etc. Because the files are locked, we are unable (and have not been contracted) to go in and change the fonts to the newer version. It is not clear whether the client will be able to purchase and replace the fonts themselves. Font Folio Version 10 is no longer available for sale (that I can see), so we cannot downgrade to th
Hi,I have made a series of ascii-drawings as illustrations for a story book. This is very font sensitive and the font that I am using is "Courier".An example is shown below. ~V~ ~V~ ~V~ ) ~V~ ) &nb

For Adobe OpenType fonts, are these allowed to be converted to a .eot file for embedding on webpages?
