Hi all,I started my discussion the other day looking for a laptop to get into video editing family movies with Premiere Pro and After Effects.  I'm trying to tie all these little video clips we seem to take with our phones and DSLR into something easier to watch.  For example creating a vacation movie or Christmas movie etc.I was considering a big heavy Acer Predator laptop but was told if I was only editing the videos and not rendering, I didn't need something so massive.  I have a PC I built last year to act as my Plex Media Server (to transcode movies) as well as my photot storage and backup device.  I think it is more powerful than the laptop I was considering but I think I might need to upgrade some components.  Below is what I have now, I believe I need to upgrade my power supply, add a graphics card and possible increase RAM.  Can you please recommend components or if this machine would be better for rendering than a laptop.Motherboard: ASROCK H97M

Helloi have a problem, i have mSATA port in my Laptop, so i got my self mSATA SSD -  SAMSUNG SSD 850 EVO 120GB, but it is not recognized!! I wonder what i do wrong?Laptop - ACER Aspire 5740/5340 series, Model - MS2286Aspire 5740G-434G64MnWin 8.1 pro, Disc C is now SSD kingston, original HDD disc is now instead of dvd drive. Hey folks!since the H.264 1080p rendering uses only 4-6 CPU cores to full extend I am not completely sure what to buy. The GPU is also a big question mark for me since none of the current-gen GPUs are supported on the official list by Adobe.What CPU and GPU would you recommend for H.264 1080p 60fps rendering? My raw footage is the exact same format (export H.264 1080p60 to H.264 1080p60). I want to record gameplay and export for YouTube upload. The ideal goal would be to render in half the time of actual video length (5 minutes to render 10 minute video). Hi, all.Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this, but how can I improve my system for CC? Things are slowly beginning to take off for me as a freelance illustrator, but I'm finding my computer is not coping very well. Illustrator gets slow (which I hear is nothing new), but other apps, like PS and InDesign don't seem as snappy as it could be, amongst other things. Especially when compared to a friend's Surface Pro (2 or 3 I am not sure) running the same apps (with lots of things in the background).I've built a couple of systems in the past, but never for a specific task like a CC Workstation. I am at the stage where I'd like things to just work smoothly I mainly use Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, but would like to use more (video editing, animation, etc.). I am considering purchasing a Microsoft Surface pro 4 with the i7 chip and therefore the intel 540 integrated GPU chip set I can't find any reference to this specific integrated chip set on the Adobe site. Will everything in Photoshop CC run OK ??? TIA

Hi, I'm a professional editor that is long overdue for a computer upgrade. I've been editing with Premier over a year on my MacBook Pro, and I plan to continue using it for the next few years while I continue to work freelance.I have around a few thousand to spend on a new editing bay, and I'm wondering what aspects of a computer would be worth spending that kind of money. For example, how would a 2009 27" iMac with 32GB RAM and a 3TB Fusion Drive compare to a 2015 27" iMac with 5K 16GB RAM and 1TB Fusion Drive? The above question is just an example. I really am hoping to find out what aspects of a computer (specifically for using Premier) will be best for me to spend that kind of money. I don't want to waste money in areas that aren't as needed. I don't want anything bigger than 15".Another consideration would be an internally upgradable laptop if possible, but not necessary, just want it to good enough for the next 4 years or so with technology and software advances.My budget is around €1500.I'm close to buying the ASUS Zenbook Pro UX501VW but just wanted to see if there were any better options or any objections? Hi Guys! Since 2014 I use to edit with my Macbook Pro 2013 2 GHz Intel Core i7 2.0GHz boost to 3.2GHz with 8gb ram (no external gpu). I'd like to change after almost 3years and I'm thinking about the new Zenbook Pro UX501VW  with 4gb nvidia gtx 960, 16gb ram and Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz boost to 3.6GHz.Now the question is, according to you, I'll have a significant improvement in 4k editing or it will be pretty much the same thing?Thank you in advance!All the best

I'm new to video editing but I really want to try my hand at it and my current PC is far outdated, so...My PC is now due to retire and make way for an upgrade, but since I purchased my current PC (several years ago) SSDs and SSHDs seem to have become the big thing. So I've been trying to read up and learn.So my new PC is based on using programs such as premiere Pro, PhotoShop and web design. I am ordering a second machine for editing at home. I am considering a couple different options but would like some advice. I recently bought the Red Giant Trapcode suite and want it to be a tad better with that stuff and just rendering previews in AE smoother and faster. Hello all!I am sure this has been answered, but i wanted to discuss my Portable setup that i am currently using for Video editing while using Premiere Pro and AE. When editing in Premiere Pro now, it seems to be running fairly smooth when editing 4k media with little to no lag. Based on research and reading forums, I have heard that an additional SSD can help improve the performance even more, specifically around the Media Cache. Since my internal SSD is a lot faster than the external SSD, how should the media cache be set up to really increase the performance/rendering times? Or is it even worth it to use the external SSD for just the cache, since you have to carry it around every time you edit something.I did experiment a little and i moved all of my media cache/scratch disk files (Previews/Autosave/etc) to my external SSD and it seemed to slow my rendering/previews down. As of now Adobe has updated the "supported requirements" list with the 2017 release of Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Yet, I wonder, why the highest Geforce GTX card supported for GPU acceleration in Windows is the 2013 Geforce GTX 780 and 780M. Among pro-users working with Geforce CUDA, the Geforce GTX 1070 and 1080 is the most popular graphics cards on the market, and personally I own a 1070 myself. I purchased this knowing it was not fully compatible with GPU acceleration in Adobe Premiere Pro, but there should be support just around the corner. Several months later, I am still sitting here with my 1070 inside my tower, with the ability to only utilize not even 51% but only 50% of the 1070s potential. Yet I see, the Quadro M6000, which was released in 2016 is supported. After several months, I have bought parts for a new PC build. It is my first new desktop in years. I have gotten heavily into drones and now need to learn Premiere. Hopefully I didn't screw up too much picking my parts. I am still unsure how to setup my storage for best performance though. On my Asus x99-A II board it plan to overclock my 6850K.There are two ways. Bios or software. I am looking for user experience with the Asus AI suite. I read a lot of bad things about it. Raising voltage to high etc.What would you recommend? Old school bios or auto tuning via 5 way optimisation? Also, does some know a good over clocking guide for my CPU?

I am about to build up a new editing system for after effects and premiere pro CC. I was now wondering which win 10 version I shall go with? Home 64bit seem to be completely fine. Pro offers a variety of additional features that I will never use. So in terms of performance I incline to stick to the home version. Or is the pro version somehow faster?Really appreciate your feedback.

I am a media student and I'm not brilliantly informed on all the specs you may need to run this kind of software. I have a new laptop and it wasn't bought purely for editing obviously, at some stage I am going to have to purchase a MacBook pro as that is what I will need to take to university next year because I'm aware it will be very efficient for adobe editing software and I am used to using macs.However for now, I was just wondering whether this laptop would even be able to run the software if I was to download it, it would be good just to have access to it at home to use for and practice with. I'm looking at buying a Z270 mother board with a Kaby Lake 7700K Processor.  My understanding is that the chipset provides 24 PCI-e lanes and the CPU provides an additional 16 PCI-e lanes.  I will also obtain a single video card, and my understanding is that it will utilize all 16 CPU lanes (unless I reduce it to 8x).  If this is true, then does that mean that all of the other devices in the PC that rely on PCI-e lanes will get them from the chipset?Also, what devices, other than a M.2 SSD's and PCI-e cards, need availability to PCI-e lanes.  USB 3?  M/B?  Chipset or CPU themselves? I'm trying to allocate devices to available lanes to determine whether or not I need to go to X99.  I'm quite certain I will never do SLI, so Z270 will probably be fine.
