I am about to purchase a new PC for my art and videography, but i am a complete noob when it comes to computers, my idea of RAM is a male sheep. can anyone direct me towards a suitable machine?

I do movie montage videos that require me to go scrub through a lot of 1080p mp4 movies and with my current setup the scrubbing isn't as smooth as i'd like (i.e. dropped frames while scrubbing).  I'd like to upgrade my pc to get super smooth scrubbing so I don't miss anything while scrubbing through the films.  I've noticed when I scrub low res dvd quality movies they are much smoother and I'd like to get this type of performance out of the 1080p mp4s.Currently I'm running an i5 4690k, a gtx 970, 16 gig ddr3 ram.  Premiere pro is on an ssd and the conforming audio files(which are huge for full mp4 movies, usually 2-3 times larger than the movie file itself) are on an "old school" internal hard drive I've had for close to 10 years.All that said, which computer components are linked to the smoothness of the preview scrubbing?  Video card, processor?  Do the hard drives play a factor?[Moderator note: moved to appropriate forum]

Hello Everyone!I'm looking for a new laptop, the HP Pavilion g6 that I currently own is a little slow for the Adobe CC app's I'm using. (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign). And it's about a 5-year-old Laptop... it is showing it's age.   I'm currently studying Web Design and Graphic Design, so I want my laptop to work well with the Adobe CC Suite. At the moment I'm looking at gaming laptops due to their high graphics and processing capabilities. (Unfortunately, there's a price tag to match!)So far the HP Omen 15t looks like a good option (OMEN Laptop - 15t gaming | HP® Official Store ), although some say the graphics are better for gaming than editing photo/video. I have a 2009 27" iMac with 16 GB DDR3 RAM.I am thinking about slapping on an SSD and some DDR4 RAM. probably a loaded question but...Looking to setup Laptop with Premiere Pro and After Effects, etc.  Currently work is also re-evaluating the MacPro trash can and converting over to a Windows workstation as well.That said, I personally have one of the mid 2009 Macbook Pro 17", I love it, but it can not handle Premiere Pro 2017, I am currently running 2014 software and until I get a newer laptop do not plan to upgrade software.  My office is running 2017.I like the real estate of a 17" monitor one reason I'm looking to Windows, also looking to faster renders etc.  I despise the bouncing beach ball, and long renders that could be faster.Pros and Cons of either system?  not looking to break the bank, but can spend money on the right set up.Thanks in advance for any info 🙂

Hi everyoneI have a laptop with the specs mentioned in the photo below. I run a test with Premiere Pro CC 2017 v. 11.1.0 and I created an AVCHD 1920x1080 25p sequence from a clip on my bin, 1-minute long, that contained 4 clips with applied Lumetri color filters to them and an alpha graphic on top with motion keyframes. Upon hitting "export" (Match Source, 20 Mbps bitrate) actual export time was exactly one minute. When testing with a 2-minute sequence, it was a bit more than two minutes. Are those export times normal for my system? Could they be faster? Also, I notice that when exporting timelines that are 30 minutes long or even an hour, export stays at 99% for quite some time until export is complete. Hi there, Just about to commit to a new computer for editing on Premiere. Using a laptop at the moment, with plenty of go but a woeful graphics card. with a $3000 budget what is the most effective laptop for editing intense effects in 4k in after effects and premiere pro?

Hi All,So I am in the process of finally upgrading my edit suite and I am running into some issues (as is per the course with any upgrade 🙂 ).First some tech spec:Mac Pro (Early 2008)2 x 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon24 GB memoryNVIDA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB video cardPremiere Pro CC v11 (2017.1.1)Deckling Studio 4K running version 10.9.3Ok with all that out of the way here is my issue I am running into.On playback setting if I want to be able to play my timeline out to my external display I need to have ENABLE MERCURY TRANSMIT selected. However when that is selected I cannot play any 4K clips in my source monitor on premiere no matter how low I set my resolution. This problem only happens with 4K footage ... HD footage plays fine.  Before the upgrade I no problem playing back 4K footage in the source monitor as long as I lowered the resolution (and that was with a Decklink Studio HD card). Now with the upgraded system even when I lower the 4K resolution I still can't get 4K

I need to buy a new pc laptop that can handle premiere, I'm just starting out so I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money but at the same time I don't wanna buy a cheap piece of junk, any advice?

Hello,My department primarily edits 1080p video for small projects(simple 3 min videos or trailers) and we are looking to do more AE with our work. We are looking to purchase a Mac for a new employee, but I'm having trouble finding reliable advice on which mac to get. The '16 MBP seems like a poor choice, and from what I've read, AMD doesn't always play nice with PP and AE, although I've seen conflicting data online. Can anyone advise as to which mac is best for us? We have a few terabytes of video, but will never get into 4k or any 3d rendering. Mac Pro is overkill, seems the best route is either an iMac(current or used?) or an older MBP. Thoughts?Thank you!

My current PC from 2010 is on his end. When I editing HD images, he uses almost the whole memory of my 4GB. It also runs on a Windows 7 system. Hello,  Been tearing my hair out for over a week now trying to select a laptop for the purposes of video editing. Been researching countless forums and youtube best of list and still unsure of what to pull the trigger on in regards to a decent machine. As of last Monday, I knew zero in regards to hardware so I have given myself a crash course in processors, video cards and while I have learned a lot, but apparently I have a lot left to learn. lol I have recently purchased a Mavic Pro drone and one of the many formats it shoots in is 4k. I have ruled out the obvious more logical choice of a desktop because I need the portability. I also would like a 17-inch screen to work with and to ensure correct color judgment, a 4k screen.  To that end, after much searching, I think I found the machine for me, but I would like to ask the experts your opinion. Good Evening All,Can anyone suggest ways I can make Adobe Pr CC 2017 (latest version) use more resources so as to speed up rendering times please?My machine has a gub of RAM, SSD for C: , HSSD for 😧 and loads of processor available yet its only using a small amount. Can this be increased or allocated better in Prem or Media Encoder or is it the GPU on my graphics card - an NVidia GT630 - that's my bottleneck please? Using a Mac, I'm thinking of setting up a RAID0 enclosure to edit 4K video.1. Will two drives configured for RAID0 make any difference in speed when editing 4K? If so, where/what types of things will the improvement be noticable? 2. Can two SSD drives be used in a RAID0 configuration? Will this result in improved performance when editing 4K Vs. two hard drives in RAID0?Thank you.

It's messed up in previews and is cropped in render. Tried turning off CUDA and distance to target in Basic 3D as well as paused reso to no avail. I am unable to currently run the GPUs in SLI because of the config of my monitors and was looking to use Nvidia's Gsync to try a workaround. I am also going to overclock the GPU's as well. Among the myriad of other things to try which I don't need to get into here my question is this: Which card does PP primarily use for rendering (card #1 or #2?) and will getting SLI to work be of any benefit to me? As for the which card question my thought process is that with four monitors I can plug the majority into either card but i don't know if that w
