is it better to have a 4ghz 4 core chip or a 22 core 2 ghz xeon for premiere? i need to know what runs premiere the best and the fastest out of those types of extremes
can you tell me what is the lowest or the most basic requrements of a computer when i use Pr ?
I searched the forum but didn't see a recent post for this question, so I thought I'd start one. I am getting ready to build new computers for our editing suite. With 4K video being here, I'm wonder on what elements I'll need to build a machine for Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects that can handle multiple cameras of 4K video without lag and that renders quickly. We spend the majority of our editing time with computer related delays. I'd like to circumvent that Any advice?[Moved to hardware forum by mod]
I decided to download a trial version of Adobe Premiere because I just switched from Mac to a custom-built Windows. Unfortunately, I have not been able to have the program work for me at all. It opens up fine, but when I import media all I get is a gray or white screen when I try to preview it. There's no audio when I scrub music files, and no video when I scrub on the preview/timeline. I've tried different file types (.mp4 and .wmv for example) but no luck. In addition to that, it crashes every time I try to quit out of it without fail. At this point, I'm wondering if it's something to do with my system requirements, and if so, if there's any suggestions on what I should try to change. Any help would be appreciated! My specs are below:Operating System Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bitCPU AMD FX-8320 Vishera 32nm TechnologyRAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (9-9-9-24)Motherboard ASRock 970M Pro3 (CPUSocket)Graphics HP 23es (1920x1080@60Hz) 4095MB NV
I have a 5k iMac and am just starting to dabble in 4K editing. It's really choppy. Unfortunately I only have the 2gb graphics card. I'm thinking about updating the fusion drive with an ssd to increase performance. Finances are pushing me for a smaller ssd and will be storing th media on an external usb 3 drive. If the media will be in a non ssd external drive is there any point to the upgrade? With a 500gb I do have the option of doing everything on the internal drive and then transferring it for storage but that seems like a pain.
hello,i just recently purchased a dell xps 15 laptop and I'm getting into video editing. It has a 1TB hard drive and 32GB RAM.someone told me I should get an external SSD(Samsung T3) to do all my photo and video editing on.....?And I'd then another hard drive to store all of my finished projects on....?[Moderator note: moved to appropriate forum]
About Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration: Works fine with Premiere Pro CC 2015, but not with Premiere Pro CC 2017. Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce CTS 250. What to do?
I recently downloaded the latest version of PP 2017 and immediately discovered it does not support my Windows 10 CUDA GPU. I've had extreme problems in the past every time I upgraded PP and was told to buy a new Computer. I did. I bought a new Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series (Alienware) Laptop. PP 2015 works just fine on it but 2017 apparently does not support my CUDA GPU. When I open a previous project or try to create a new one, I get a warning message that PP does not recognize my CUDA card. The Video rendering and Playback option allows only 'Mercury Playback Engine Software Only.' (And yes, I updated my GPU driver). This machine is about 7 months old so I have three questions.1) Do I need to buy a new computer (new GPU card) every time I update Premiere Pro? If not2) Is there a bug in this version that does not offer CUDA support? If so,3) Will the next update of PP offer CUDA support? My machine specs:Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series
Let's say you have four physical hard drives on your system:C:, the System Drive, has CC installed on it😧 has your project files and footage/Source Audio and resources (like scores and audio samples)E: is your Scratch DriveF: is your render drive1. If you were to export a sequence from a project on E: to a folder on F:, which drive would have the highest level of usage during the render? (Assuming they were all identical drives?)2. If you were playing your sequence inside Premiere Pro CC, which drive would have the highest level of usage during the playback on the sequence? (Assuming they were all identical drives?)[Moderator note: moved to best forum]
Would like to better understand the specs that work best for photo and video editing. Would prefer to stay within the $800 - $1500 range.[Moaderator's note: Moving from non-technical Lounge to Hardware forum.]
Hi, every time i want to start a thread here i give up even before trying but i so hope someone will have an answer to my question since i'm sure even Adobe doesn't have one.How many execution units on your integrated gpu are necessary to allow mercury engine to work?I tried with my integrated from the intel 6600k, which has 24EU and it worked flawlessly. Then i tried with my notebook with just 12EU (Atom Z8300) but Premiere told me "not enough executions units available" and it won't allow me to use it. Naturally editing in "software only" is impossible, especially on low power machines.Do you have experience with this matter? Some Intel processors have 18EU. Will them be enough? I'm not expecting to fly, just being able to use it.thanks!!ps. please don't link this page because it's total crap Premiere Pro System Requirements for Mac OS and Windows[Moderator note: moved to best forum]
Hello,After a bit of time spent scanning forums and trying various things, it seems my tried and trusty graphics card is not supported in the new Premiere Pro 2017 upgrade, and so I cannot use graphics acceleration. I have a GTX 660 TiI'm a video person before a tech person, so my understanding of how hardware works and what is what is pretty rudimentary. Looking at the long list of new supported cards and then going online and seeing a whole slew of others available at my local PC store: eg GTX 1050 Ti, I am at a loss as to what would work best. I am on a budget, so $700 cards are not an option. My computer is a bit old, but still working well and replacing it at the moment is not an option financially.Thoughts? My system, if needed is:Core I7-3770 @3.4GHZ16 GB RamWindows 7 Pro 64 bitThank you in advance for your assistance.Regards,Bill[Moderator note: moved to appropriate forum]
Hello guys,I'ts hard to miss the value you guys provide, really appreciate it, Thanks!I'm planing to get into editing more seriously, and invest in a workstation for heavy After Effects CC, Illustrator CC, Photoshop CC, Premiere Pro CC and Cinema 4D work.I've been editing on i5 and 8gb PC for close to 4 years now and finally have enough money to buy my BIG upgrade.I'm not savvy at all when it comes to hardware, hence here I am looking for advice. After lurking any comments and watching hours of videos - I've come with the following rig:Intel Core i7-6950X 3.0GHz 10-Core ProcessorCorsair H100i v2ASUS ROG STRIX X99 GAMINGAsus GTX 1080 ROG STRIX 8GBG.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series(16GBx8)(128GB)SAMSUNG 960 PRO M.2 1TB SSD (media & cache)SAMSUNG 850 PRO SSD SATA III 512GB (os & apps)WESTERN DIGITAL BLACK 6TB SATA III (archive)Corsair 750D Airflow ATX Full Tower Window CaseCorsair 1200W 80+ Platinum AX1200iWhat would you all recommend I should keep (if any) and what should I replace? Thanks i
Hi all,Well I am building a PC for the first time (with some help thankfully). I've loved Macs but hey, budgets are a real thing and I'd rather not spend $3k for dated hardware. So in this build I will be having a 256GB SSD (M.2 at 8Gb/s) and a 1TB HDD (both WD Black drives). My theory here was I was going to use the SSD for Windows and my core, everyday applications: web browser, anti-virus, etc. The HDD would however house Premiere, as well as all media content (raw, render/temp files, projects, etc.) The reasoning is I thought (and have had this thought reinforced by a friend) that having the media on the same drive as the program is quicker, since there's less cross talk between drives as Premiere tries to communicate with the media. What do people think about this? Is it worth keeping Premiere with the media, would it be faster if the program was on the SSD, or would it not really matter either way? I know, ideally I would have 2 SSDs but you know how it is haha.Just looking to hear
I seem to have regular crahses and audio stutters when using an asio based sound card such as my Roland Duo EX or my internal Asus STX card, I then get an error in Audio hardware window 'XXXsoundcard not working'. My computer is very high spec, does Adobe have a problem handling professioal audio cards, asio cards?Would I be better to stick to the regular windows/microsoft drivers and sound and can someone tell me where to find them as I can only see my asio cards showing in the Audio Hardware propeties? thanks
Hey guys, I've looked high and low for this answer, but I cannot seem to find a simple answer. Im shopping for laptop that will run the creative cloud. Especially premiere pro but I might dabble in photoshop/ lightroom too. I cannot seem to find a laptop that has a video card listed in the Adobe approved video cards. Premiere Pro System Requirements for Mac OS and Windows However, I have found some with names in the same series with higher numbers. Will the Nvidia GeForce GTX 940MX work? I had my eye on this machine. Lenovo 2-in-1 15.6" 4K Ultra HD Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 940MX - 256GB SSD… and buying a usb 3.0 external hard drive. Any advice? As always on the internet, I know I'm an idiot: troll away
Hardware advice, please. What's the smallest machine Premiere Pro will run smoothly on? Looking to create HD Vimeo/Youtube content while bicycle touring, size/weight major concern. My Surface Pro 3 tablet is slow/glitchy/not rendering large segments from my GoPro Hero 4. Thanks!
hibought the 2xmac pro 6 yrs ago1. 3 x 8gb = 24 gb ram ram - faster config as per apple1066 mhz ecc ram ddr3mechanical HD but pretty fastcpu = 2.8 ghz quad core intel xenon2..other mac pro is twin except less ram 3 x 4gb recently added 4th stick ram for new total of 16 gbabout to upgrade from macOS 10.9 to 10.10 and adobe cc 2015 to 2017looking for an cost effective speed bump - higher end mac does about 50% photoshoppoorer sister does about 50% in designwould it it make sense to install the 3x8gb ram in the poorer sister and then buy/install 3 x 16 gb ram = 48 gb ram in the richer sister ?both mac pros get more ram that way - apple had a real hard on to keep 3 sticks of ram in each mac so as to maximize performanceas always your opinions are appreciated
AMD rx 480 or Nvidia gtx 1060 for adobe premier pro and after effect ? Is there any compability issues if I get rx480?CPU : AMD FX 8350RAM DDR3 1866 16GBSSD: SAMSUNG 850 PRO
Which one is better for working in Premiere Pro and CS6 in general? Upgrading from a 2012 MacBook Pro.Thanks
I'm planning to replace my current workhorse mid-2012 vintage MacBook Pro with a new model (or at least sort-of-new: 2015) that has a 15 inch Retina display. Does using a Retina Display change the Video Editing process at all? My videos are heavily-reliant on still images. Thanks.
GTX 1060 or 1070 for Premier Pro cc
Hi All, well I just purchased and upgraded to Premier Pro CC (from an earlier version) last month.... now a month later (maybe less) and my laptop (HP Envy I7 15T-3000) which i used for all my video editing (and everything else) up and died yesterday beyond the point of trying to repair it... again....... So... I need to get an PP-CC editing system back up and running. At this point, I no longer need a laptop, nor do I want to have the tech limitations of a laptop for editing. I've spent most of the day looking into what I need to build a new desktop editing system. I've had Adobe's "minimum requirements" page open most of the day, as well as looking into many videos and other websites about what is "recommended hardware" instead of just the minimum requirements. I want a system that is more than just the "bare minimum", but at the same time I am on a limited budget, and I do not make any money on the video editing I do, as it is for a small ministry. With that said, here is
Hi,buying a custom built laptop from eurocom. It has 2 m.2 SSD slots and 2 HDD slots. The seller gives one HDD hitachi 1 TB travelstar 7200 RPM at $40 along with the laptop setup. only the first hard disk comes at lesser price. Rest all over priced. so not going to buy from them.now suggest me to fill up other 3 slots. (cost effectively). Just a beginner. purchasing mainly for learning and practicing.1. how much capacity I need for boot drive and which SSD to choose. maybe a possible dual boot. not decided yet 2. how much capacity I need for scratch disk and which SSD to choose.3. how much capacity I should put in HDD and 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm. any hdd suggestions? since I have not put in any data, should I go ahead setting up the RAID now itself? or it is based on necessity? any other general advice should do. going to use premiere pro , after effects, cinema 4d.
I need a new laptop to run premiere pro CC on since my old one doesn't have the system requirements needed. Know any good laptops/flip books for a student editor?[Branched to a new thread and moved to the Hardware Forum.]
