Which one is better for working in Premiere Pro and CS6 in general? Upgrading from a 2012 MacBook Pro.Thanks

I'm planning to replace my current workhorse mid-2012 vintage MacBook Pro with a new model (or at least sort-of-new: 2015) that has a 15 inch Retina display. Does using a Retina Display change the Video Editing process at all?  My videos are heavily-reliant on still images.  Thanks.

Hi All, well I just purchased and upgraded to Premier Pro CC (from an earlier version) last month.... now a month later (maybe less) and my laptop (HP Envy I7 15T-3000) which i used for all my video editing (and everything else) up and died yesterday beyond the point of trying to repair it... again.......  So... I need to get an PP-CC editing system back up and running. At this point, I no longer need a laptop, nor do I want to have the tech limitations of a laptop for editing.  I've spent most of the day looking into what I need to build a new desktop editing system. I've had Adobe's "minimum requirements" page open most of the day, as well as looking into many videos and other websites about what is "recommended hardware" instead of just the minimum requirements. I want a system that is more than just the "bare minimum", but at the same time I am on a limited budget, and I do not make any money on the video editing I do, as it is for a small ministry.With that said, here is

Hi,buying a custom built laptop from eurocom. It has 2 m.2 SSD slots and 2 HDD slots. The seller gives one HDD hitachi 1 TB travelstar 7200 RPM at $40 along with the laptop setup. only the first hard disk comes at lesser price. Rest all over priced. so not going to buy from them.now suggest me to fill up other 3 slots. (cost effectively). Just a beginner. purchasing mainly for learning and practicing.1. how much capacity I need for boot drive and which SSD to choose. maybe a possible dual boot. not decided yet 2. how much capacity I need for scratch disk and which SSD to choose.3. how much capacity I should put in HDD and 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm. any hdd suggestions? since I have not put in any data, should I go ahead setting up the RAID now itself? or it is based on necessity? any other general advice should do. going to use premiere pro , after effects, cinema 4d.

Unfortunately my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 does not work as expected. So I'm looking for a new audio hardware (internal or external) which works 100% reliable with Premiere Pro CC 2017. I'm going to be editing projects off of a dock with two 1TB SSD's using thunderbolt 2. One SSD will be freelance projects, and the other SSD will be independent projects. I'm trying to think of the best way to back up these 2 different drives as I work on them, and it dawned on me to mirror one SSD to a 1TB LaCie w/thunderbolt and another SSD with another LaCie. I figure I can mirror the SSD's to the two different LaCie's, but will that slow down my editing process? If so, how much would it slow down my editing process?I want a fast setup, but I also want reliability (duh). I know it's worth paying more $ for a setup that you won't lose everything dependent on one external drive. Following the conversation about a month ago I here regards 960 SSDs I was starting to think I may not get one in time for my build sometime this month and the 'in stock' messages kept changing a B&H so I order one of each, figuring I'd cancel when the first once came in. Last week I got an email that the order had shipped, so now I have two.Any suggestions. I was probably going to go with an 850 for boot, but I could also keep both of these and use it with an Asus x99 Deluxe II as it comes with the extra pcie card. Or I can send one of these drives back, etc.

Hello all,My business is starting to take off and I will be doing a lot of editing professionally.  Its been driving me nuts trying to pick between PC or iMac, every few hours for the last week or so I have changed my mind.  I use Premiere Pro and After Effects mainly, my budget is $4000 which is between either a custom PC or a 27" maxed out iMac.  Im planning on going into film production/post production down the road but not a huge consideration, by then I will most likely have a different computer.Considerations:I would prefer PC but as im going professional if an iMac would be better im willing to go that route.  Whatever will move my job forward.The iMac would be the build in 5K display with a 1080P monitor.  (Specs maxed)The PC would be connected to a 4K monitor with two 1080P monitors.  (Specs=Beast)I have heard there will most likely be a new iMac next month but its all roomer. Hi everybody,After reading around the forums and the web in regard of 4K resolution Windows machines, I am still struggling to decide if I should get a 4K screen or stick to the FHD version. I am planning on getting a new laptop (15 inch) and there is an option to get a 4K screen with it. I've read all the discussions about scaling issues and so on, but still. Some people think it's workable, while others think it's not.However, most of those discussions where about 4K monitors, while this laptop has merely a 15 inch screen. I haven't found a 4K screen in a shop nearby in order to see it for myself and that's why I would like some opinion on this issue. My gut says that I should just stick to a FHD screen, while my mind says, get the 4K screen because that's where everything will be going and I don't want to be buying another laptop in a year or so ...Any opinions on what the best way to go is are most welcome...Thanks,Lex

Hi I have a ASUS Republic of Gamers G74 with Adobe CS 5.5.  I'm looking to upgrade to CC 2017.  My laptop is 5 years old and I know very little about hardware.  I have an i7-2670QM 2.2 GHz processor with 12GB RAM.  My question is that for Premiere Pro CC 2017, what will I need to upgrade hardware-wise, or should I just scrap my ASUS and get a whole new computer?  Also my graphics card is NVidia GTX 560M.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Buying a custom built Clevo Barebone - P750DM2 laptop with i7 7700. Just a beginner in AE, Premiere and C4D. .. no idea on the projects that will come to me. Buying for learning these softwares. On which projects exactly the difference between GTX 1060m and gtx 1070m comes into play? Want to take a decision based on current necessity and future necessity... I use a Roland V-40HD video production switcher fed by two Canon XHA1 cameras with analog component cabling, and want to simultaneously record the video from each using a good 4:4:4 codec for editing. I currently have one of the switcher's outputs connected to a DVD recorder, but need to have high-definition archival copies. I think I will need a 4x4 router to connect the cabling to, to distribute it to the switcher and also to PC-based video capture cards. I often use supplemental video from one other camera, and am planning to add a CG input to the switcher from the PC I will use, thus the 4x4 requirement. I want to preserve the analog component quality from the cameras for post-production use, and be able to use that PC to also live stream the event without choking or dropping frames. Hey Guys, im searching for a new editing machine. I was looking around for while and found laptop like the Asus ZenBook or the Dell XPS 15.But i dont really now if this fits my suits. Right now I'm a Editor, VFX Artist in a Studio and meanwhile im studying.Cuz im traveling a lot, I need my Workstation with me all the time. So i can editing in the studio, in the train or @9795144. I already got a Desktop for my home so i dont really need a new one. I´m working very often with the Adobe Products, Cinema4D, 3DS Max. Most of the footage will be edit in 4K so i need a laptop that can handle this. I just installed 8 more gigs of RAM. Did it myself and it posted! Yippie! I now have 12 gigs and let me tell you it's like a vitamin B12 shoot to it. The difference is like night and day. Windows boots quicker, programs launch faster and even my monitor looks better. Tomorrow, another 8 gigs to max it out at 16 gigs. I shouldn't need anymore than that as I'm not running anything that memory intensive I think. After this, gonna get a better video card and then who knows maybe a newer CPU.How about you folks anyone updating their hardware? If so, with what?

Hello,I've bought a Dell 5567 Laptop with I7 7500u CPU, 8 GB DDR4 2133 RAM, AMD Radeon R7 M445 4GB, 256 GB SSD and Windows 10. I shot some footage with GOPRO Hero 5 in 4k, added it to a sequence in Premiere and tried to export as MP4 H264, 1080p, Render at maximum quality, VBR 2 pass. It took 13 hours to encode a 7 minute 4 GB movie.The memory was 1 DIMM so it as running single channel. I bought another 8 GB DIMM and added it so it's dual channel now, 16 GB RAM in total.I did the exact same thing and the encoding took 1h 30 minutes.I wanted to know why is this staggering performance increase (10x) from RAM in dual channel, during the encoding it was not using almost no RAM so i don;t think was the size of the RAM.

I'm interested in hearing thoughts on a good 15" travel laptop for Premiere Pro editing and reasonable encoding of small/moderate projects to H.264 (i.e., projects with several 1 to 3 hours of footage, approx 50GB to 250GB in raw footage per project, cut into a 5 to 20 minute final... small stuff. Footage is all from Canon DSLR ALL-I footage or Point-n-shoot/smartphone mp4 files.Projects typically use basic transitions and Lumetri... not much VFX... some AE now and then perhaps.
