I have inherited a few gigabytes of old documents , and a version 9 of in FrameMaker. I am trying to print to PDF.. I've worked on one book so far. The worst: nine times out of 10, the printing process hangs. I saw in a forum that the PDF printer for newer versions of Distiller were incompatible with the FrameMaker 9. I uninstalled Acrobat DC, reinstalled the PDF printer for FrameMaker 9, but no progress. I read also you had to check that Adobe PDF was selected as the PDF printer. Here are the settings on my PC: I see the jobs in the print queue. I tried deleting them an hour ago, they are still there: I also get messages relating to fonts I turned OFF the option: In the consfile.txt I see error messages relating to missing fonts: The "Open Sans ExtraBold" Font is not available. "Open Sans Bold" will be used in this session. The "Open Sans ExtraBold" Font is not available. "Open Sans Bold" will be used in this session. but I do have Open Sans ExtraBold: Not the worst, but very annoying: every time I open the book and I try to print to PDF , I get messages for the fm documents saying the documents are locked by fvila: I have to click Reset lock and open, for each document. (fvila is myself). For the same documents, I have loads of .recover files, .backup files, and .recover.backup files I systematically have to change the PDF Job options. The dialog box offers a custom option I don't have. But it comes back every time

I've got one path with a nice arrowhead + color + width combination and I want to paste that style onto other paths. I've found how to copy-paste the color and width, but how about the arrowhead? BTW PowerPoint does this easily: the Format Painter (paintbrush icon) copies color, width, arrowheads, etc.

Hi @SteveG, Did you manage to get vtml or voiceXML working correctly? Was it in Windows 10? Can you give some indication as to where to look? Would an iPhone work better for this task?

I tried a VoiceXML text (this is on Audition CC on Windows 10) and it has no effect on the output. Below is the the text I entered (copied from emphasis | VoiceXML Language Reference—Part 1 | InformIT ) . It sounds identical to just "The most important thing. The least important thing." : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?> <vxml version="2.0"> <form id="audiotest"> <block> <prompt> The <emphasis level="strong"> most </emphasis> important thing.<break/>The <emphasis level="reduced"> least </emphasis> important thing. </prompt> </block> </form> </vxml>

Just read about vtml tags that can add emphasis and pauses to make TTS sound less like a robot. I've tried it out in Audition CC and it seems to have no effect. Example: <vtml_pitch value ="150>Fact</vtml_pitch>: <vtml_pause time="500"/>Employees who are auditory learners, train faster and more effectively, by listening to iSpeech text to speech, inside of e-learning courses. Am I missing something to make this work? If the feature isn't available in Audition, what other tools would provide the service?

I had the same error while using the "Replace with After Effects Composition" command in Premiere Pro CC. I had already used this command successfully 5 times in the same project, and was feeling really good about Adobe CC and myself. Then I selected 3 still photographs in my Premiere timeline and launched the same command. I received the cryptic error message about the importer finding a "generic error" I tried the command on the still clips one by one - all worked except one. I removed a position effect from the offending clip - it worked. I realize it's not easy to eradicate all cases of error, even though I do believe Adobe R&D should be given the means to do that. But at least can we get error messages that give some indication as to what the problem is about, before we start re-installing CC, Windows, or messing around with the firewalls, as suggested in other posts?

Hi, It seems to be working now. I went into Photoshop (the bug was on Illustrator) and deleted all the libraries there - not solved. I then rebooted, and finally... Illustrator decided to let me work. It seems I didn't go to the end of the article Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app doesn't open or shows a spinning progress wheel because in there point 5 says go to C:\Users\<user folder>\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE and delete everything, which should delete the libraries, I imagine? Is there anywhere I can submit a log file so developers can cure this bug and avoid this kind of behavior in the future? Combing the web for answers, executing long checklists, rebooting multiple times is time-consuming for the end-user (me), not to speak of the time experts (you) spend answering their anguished cries for help.

Hi Mike, thanks for the input. I don't quite know what you mean about "repair permissions, enable hidden admin account" Anyway I downloaded the cleaner tool, ran it with options all - all, disabled all startup apps in the task manager, rebooted, reinstalled CC + Illustrator. The problem was not solved, the wheel still spins.

I can use the mouse, I can open or create a document, but the cursor has a spinning wheel (even when I move the mouse outside Illustrator), and the menus don't work. I've been through checklists such as Illustrator hints, install/reinstall, remove user preference folder, in Illustrator as in other products. I've tried moving all the fonts I could from the fonts folder. I've rebooted multiple times. I've tried reinstalling Illustrator. After doing all this, I get error messages such as "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error (SExi)", "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error (CANT)"... but the problem persists. I'm currently also using After Effects - I removed the user preferences using the Ctrll - Shift - Alt keys. Version: It's the latest version of CC Windows 8.1

Hi Doug, Thanks for answering. Yes I'm sure there's loads of options tucked away to get Illustrator working the way I want it to. But this is the first screen on opening Illustrator CC. So all the new users of Illustrator CC will be confronted with the same "recent document profiles" that mean rather little to a newly arriving user. Recent document profiles are meaningful if you are familiar with the old ones and want to find out what's new. If you're newly arrived everything is new. What I would have expected would be either the offer of a guided tour of the interface, or something looking like the usual behavior - maybe with a big button somewhere saying "Check out new profiles!". First impressions do count, and Illustrator could gain a few points in people's minds by looking at itself in the eyes of a new user.

I installed Illustrator CC and wanted to create a new document. File > New opened a New document window, but it opens on the Recent tab and contains a YOUR RECENT ITEMS (0) Obviously, 1) there's no recent items because I just installed and 2) I wasn't trying to open an existing file, since I selected File > New! You have to go and open the Mobile or Web folders to find options for new documents. I am very perplexed at this behavior. I have a path in Illustrator that I paste into a shape layer in AE. The path in Illustrator has a fill color with holes in it. When I paste it in AE, it's the the holes that take the fill color, and the shape around them becomes transparent, instead of the other way round

In Camtasia Studio, the default behavior is the clip stops when you drag it and it meets another one on the same track. If you want to override the other clip, you simply move the clip to a higher track. Or you explicitly squeeze the other clip first. Logical and intuitive.
