It's literally impossible. 21st century. Year 2023 almost. Feels like video editing was invented yesterday. Thank goodness video editing is not and never will be my job. I just want to convert a sequence of images into a video. Simple no? I think any phone app can do it easily. Let me see. 30 images. I want 10 second video. 3 frames per second. 1. Create composition. 3 frames per second. 10 seconds long. 2. Import images. 3. Drag image sequence import into lower window (whatever this step is for) 4. Press space to preview animation. Animation lasts 1 second and the remaining 9 seconds is all black. AMAZING. Also, who thought about this timeline? 00:01f ; 1:00f ; 1:02f ; 2:00f. So you go from 1:00 to 1:02 and then jump to 2:00. People get paid for designing this? I really don't know what am I looking at. Is it frames? It is seconds? Is it seconds and mili seconds? It is frames and seconds and milisecodns all together?? All I see is my bluish-greeinish bar is up to 1:00f and it has to go to 10:00f Despite I configuring the composition to be 3 frames per second and 10 second long. I get all frames in 1 single second and no way to edit it. One would thin that maybe I could drag my bar to the end. But nooo. Try to drag and nothing happens. This software man. Bravo.

You are right, I can just record my action and use Batch to run it across all my files instead of loading them as layers and then saving each layer again, which took ages. Thank you!

Ah this actually promts me to save each time, and I need like 200 layers. But you gave me another idea. I can just run the script which loops the action without saving. And then use Export>Layer to Files 😄

Hi guys, I am in need of something similar but I added a Save step to my action. But it seems that as the action is looped in the script, the save is always with the same name, overwritting each file instead of saving each layer to a separate file 😞

Thank you. I tried printing to PDF and then copying the text 'with formatting' from the Acrobat to Illustrator and no luck. I had already installed the extension 'Copy as Html' from here: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=VisualStudioPlatformTeam.CopyAsHtml But it was not working in Illustrator either. It does work on Microsoft Word. I then tried to copy the pasted text from Microsft into Illustartor and again no luck. What ended up working was to 'Place' the Microsoft Word document into Illustrator, and that comes up with formatting perfectly!

Hi everyone, I have hit a dead end trying to copy code snippets from applications such as Visual Studio into Illustrator. This nice page exists, which does that and lets you choose a design and export to PNG or SVG: https://carbon.now.sh/ But, I don't like any of the designs, plus I have no control over the overall size of the export. I would like to design my own in Illustrator. The problem is, the code does not get copied with the syntax (colors, italicas, etc). Is this possible to do or should I just forget it? Thanks

Okay, here is the video: Notice how I use the + or - mode to add or substract from my mask. While in - mode I can substract pricesely with not anti alising. When I switch over to + mode, the rectangular selection is not respected, the portions of the image that come back are not rectangular shape, they seem random and have anti alising applied. Then I tried doing it over 1px. Substraction mode works fine, when I try to add back with + mode it does not unhide my pixels.

What?! I don't want to recognize an object using AI... you are not even reading what I write. I am specifically talking about the existing Object Selection tool behavior. Try this: select a small amount of pixels with the substraction mode. Now try to add them back with the add mode. Does it work on your side? I will post a video tomorrow... Not sure what is going on here today, its as if you guys don't understand English or something.

1px brush is useless to me. The name of the tool is irrelevant. Objects are made of pixels. Have you tried what I described on mu previous reply? Object selection tool 'add' mode is not reciporcal to its 'substract mode' For some reason I can substract very small regions (10x10px) but when I want to add them back nothing happens.... I need to select a much bigger region, and it applies anti alising to the selection, when substracion mode does not....

Hello, You use Hide when I use Add: Hide/Unhide = Add/Substract. While inside the mask editor you have access to a limited number of tools. The 'Object Selection Tool' (recntagle) gives you the option to Add or Substract from the selection. Now, when I am in 'Substract' mode, I can substract very precisely without anti alising. But when I change to 'Add' mode, it does not add my pixels back (does not unhide them). Try it. Create a mask. Use the 'Object Selection Tool' to hide some pixels (zoom in until you see pixels). Now swap to 'Add' mode and try to unhide the pixels you just hid. It does not work....

Hi all, I have two problems with the masking tool right now: 1. When I substract pixels and use the object selection tool (rectangle) I can make super precise selections and all pixels selected will be erased, that's excelent. The problem comes when I want to add some pixels back, so I use the same tool but with + mode and it just does not add pixels back in the same precise way, in fact, if the selection is too small, it doesn't do anything. While substracting I can be precise up to 1 single pixel. To add pixels back I need to make much bigger selections. What is the deal with this? 2. How can I disable anti alising while using the brush tool? I really don't want any kind of grays in my mask, just plain white and black... Thanks in advance.

I rezised original by 24% and PPI went from 400 to 1666. Image quality is way superior to resizing with resample checked. With this information, how do I know what to do thereafter? Which sceneario would make me opt to resample instead?

Okay. I am trying to figure out the best workflow here: The end goal is to place this image into InDesign on A4 and have it display at the correct scale. Of course with the best quality possible. My orignal image is: 9548px x 9548 px 400 PPI Scale 1:96 This means my image is 606.3mm x 606.3mm: 400/25.4mm = 15.748px per mm 9548/15.748 = 606.3mm Basically what photoshop does on the backgorund when I put units to mm. Now I want a scale of 1:400. For that I need a scale factor of 0.24 regarding the current scale of 1:96. I resized without resampling to 24% and the resolution went from 400PPI to 1666.667. This means my image will now measure 145.5 mm x 145.5 mm: 1666.667/25.4mm = 65.616811px per mm 9548/65.616811 =145.5mm I guess this is the same as just placing the unedited image into InDesign, within a frame of 145.5 mm x 145.5 mm and fitting the image to frame. Notice how the actual PPI is 400 and the effective is 1666. Conclusion: I guess not resampling is the way to go right? Now I wonder if I should edit at all, maybe it is best to just calculate InDesign frame size and let InDesign do the resizing of the image... What do you guys think?

Hi everyone, I am working with drawings that need to be at x scale. I have a scanned drawing and it looks like this inside Photoshop: I now scale my image by Edit>Transform>Scale>check mantain aspect ratio>input 24% So I am scaling down my image from 100% to 24%. The result looks like this: Is this normal with raster software, am I having unreasonable expectations? What troubles me the most is that the original image is a bitmap with only back and white colors, and when scaled I can see gray tones in the pixels. A simple down scale messed up by whole image! I thought up scaling was the problem as Photoshop has to create new pixels out of the blue. I never thought down scaling would result in a quality loss... I guess I am looking for clarification whether this is normal and nothing can be done or if I am doing something wrong when scaling (which I doubt), but maybe there is a better method to scale images to x size. Thank in advance.

Yup, but the orignal TIF did not enable me to save as JPEG unless I changed the mode to Grayscale. So I did that to edit the image and then I decied to keep it as TIF to avoid compression. 🙂

Shouldn't I be able change directly to RGB? Seems PS is still not smart enough. Anways, that explains all of my current situation. Thank you. Indeed, yes, this is a scan I am working with. I ended up using the workflow of changing to Grayscale and then to RGB. The other method actually cuased me some trouble, because the option to 'Save As' JPEG was not available, so I decided to export to JPEG instead, big mistake. Resolution data erased, back to default 72PPI and that screwed the rest of my workflow which included importing my eddited images into a drafting software, which actually does care about PPI. So I had the original reference TIF at 400 PPI and the edited JPEG image at 72 PPI. Not good. I ended up sticking to TIF all the way, simply changig the mode inside PS. Hope this is okay.

What is even weirder is that once I change mode to Grayscale, all other modes become available. That is, if I want to change mode to RGB, I first need to change to Grayscale to then change to RGB. Pretty strange behaviour...

Here you can see my panels. Like I said, only additional available mode is Grayscale. The mode is Bitmap. I can't add layers, nor unlock the only existing layer. It is all grayed out. The image (which I replaced with a white plane) is a scan from a drawing. I need to crop it non-destructivly, but the option is also grayed out. I have two options: Export as JPG and open it. Change mode to grayscale. Both these options make all tools available again.

I understand that, I don't want to save the layered file, no idea where you would get that idea from. I already wrote on my OP that info: "I am currently working with some TIF images. When I open them in Photoshop, the TIF files get loaded into Bitmap mode - 8bits. The only other available mode to change is Grayscale." Oh, and I posted a phone photo because a screenshot would not capture the 'prohibition sign' icon that Photoshop displays when I hover the mouse over the New Layer button. Didn't you know that?

Hi everyone, I am currently working with some TIF images. When I open them in Photoshop, the TIF files get loaded into Bitmap mode - 8bits. The only other available mode to change is Grayscale. I need to crop them and erase the background. I was planning on using the crop tool with 'delete cropped pixels' unticked. The problem is this option is grayed out. Also, I can't add layers nor unlock my current layer. I figured this is because of the file type. So, I decied to use File>Export>Export As and save my TIFas a JPG. I opened that and I can untick 'delete cropped pixels' and add layers as normal. My question is: Is this the correct way to go, that is, export as JPG? or am I missing something? I realized that changin mode to Grayscale also allows me to add layers, etc as normal. Maybe I should just do this instead of exporting as JPG and reopening? Thanks in advance for your advice Shynn

Hello, I have been generating some colored drawings and imported them into Adobe Illustrator. The final intent is to export a .PNG to post on Instagram. Regarding colors, I am not sure if should ignore or not the 'out of web color warning'. Could someone clarify to me exactly what goes into 'web' category? Also, I found I can't correct the gamut of multiple objects at the same time. I have many many paths with differet colors. How can I make sure all the colors are inside the web gamut? Thank you.

I finally solved it by converting to very high JPG quiality and my lines display fine inside Acrobat. For those who want to know, my vectorial document made in Ai was meant for Indesign, so I exported from there as JPG, and replaced that page for the JPG page inside Acrobat.

Hi, this worked! But, is this a PC-dependant setting? I want to send my document through mail and want is displaying correctly on the other side. Can I hard code this setting into the PDF? Having to tell the client to turn this off is a big no-no for me.

Hi, I want to have very thin lines, below 0.1mm. While in Illusatrator, the difference in stroke it noticiable, but when exported to pdf and viewed in Acrobat, all strokes below 0.1mm including 0.1mm look the same. How can I fix this? Thanks Illustrator Screenshot Acrobat Screenshot

Hi all, I keep getting this annoying message when PDF exporting. Yes, I know they are a couple of threads with the same issue. Yes, I have images in RGB space, that is why I get the alert. Yes, my PDF exports fine. I have set Indesign's settings: RGB space to sRGB. Transparency Blend Space to Document RGB. I even started a whole new document and chose 'Web' instead of 'Print'. https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/icc-profile-error/m-p/5355324?page=1#M19716 Did as suggested here and no alert. But: I want to export for Web. Indesign should not be doing any conversion by default! How can I solve this without having to change the PDF stantard?
