As far as I'm aware, this is "broken as designed" and there hasn't been any resolution. Given the 8-year timespan I don't think Adobe is interested.

Apologies for not being more specific. I created a custom camera profile using ColorChecker Passport, using the LrC plugin. It created the profile as "Untitled Profile.dcp" in the `%APPDATA%\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles` There is no option to rename or remove a camera profile. In LrC right click does not bring up a context menu at all, for ANY profile. In the CameraRaw dialog in Photoshop right-click displays a context menu but there's no option to rename a profile. I tried renaming the .dcp file, but LrC did not pick up the name. In the profile browser it is still "Untitled Profile". I quit LrC, made a copy of the .dcp file and renamed the copy to the desired name. Upon relaunching LrC, the additional profile does not appear, only the original "Untitled Profile" I then moved the copy to my Desktop and tried importing the profile into LrC. It complained that the profile already exists. Looking at the "Untitled Profile.dcp" file in a hex editor (it's binary) I note that there's a profile name at the end, null-delimited (i.e. no string length field), so I updated the string to the desired name and also changed the file name to match. That profile disappeared from LrC's camera profile menu I gave up and created a standalone profile using the ColorChecker desktop app from the same image (i.e. not using the ColorChecker plugin). The app prompted for a profile name (which the plugin didn't), and it created the profile, with the correct file name and embedded name, in the %APPDATA% CameraProfiles folder. Upon relaunching LrC, the new profile appeared in the menu as expected. I've resolved my particular issue, but the fact that there's no option to rename a camera profile needs to be resolved. None of the information in https://www.lightroomqueen.com/community/threads/how-do-i-rename-a-customised-created-colour-profile.38001/ from 2019 seems to work any more. In CameraRaw (accessed from Photoshop when opening a .CR2 file) there's still no "Rename" option (and no "Delete" either). I presume just delete the .dcp file for that. Also, the links say "... in Camera Raw..." but I can't find a way to launch Camera Raw on its own, the only option I've found is to try opening a raw file in Photoshop. Is there another way to launch Camera Raw?

LRC 13-3, Windows 11, AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS, 64GB Every resource on the web, going back years, says to open the profile browser and right-click on the profile name to rename it. This no longer works, right-click does nothing here, on ANY profile name. Has this ability been removed? How does one rename a develop profile? Update: I found the profile browser in ACR (when opening a CR2 in Photoshop), and find that there too, although right-click does bring up some options, it appears it's not possible to rename the profile there either.

Which behavior? Are you referring to the memory exhaustion problem I described in my original post (see above), or what I described in my most recent post showing that the latest driver version seems to have fixed the problem?

Interesting.... I updated from AMD's download site a few days ago, but when checking just now I saw there's an even more recent version. So I updated again, and re-enabled GPU in LR... and it seems to be working without the memory leak. If I browse through a bunch of images in Develop mode, memory usage climbs to 11GB, but drops back to 6GB within seconds of stopping keyboard/mouse interaction. I'll keep watch on it and post updates in a few days... this looks very promising. For anyone with the same issue, the version of AMD Adrenaline that seems to work is 24.5.1. With GPU disabled, Lightroom uses about 6GB. With GPU enabled LRC consumes all available memory in a 32GB system and eventually stops responding and then crashes. When LRC stops responding, Process Explorer shows the process "suspended"... after a few minutes in this state, LRC crashes. This just started happening since the upgrade to 12.3. Windows 10 22H2 with all latest updates CPU: i7-4790K @ 4.00 GHz (not OC), 32GB RAM, 6TB Disk Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX750 Ti with driver version 527.37 (latest available) I merged 4 images into a panorama (image 46 below): If I am in Develop mode and have a non-panorama image selected, LrC uses almost no CPU in the background. On changing the selection to a different (non-pano) image, there is a CPU spike for a few seconds. However, if I select a panorama, CPU usage in LrC jumps to 65-70% for 10-15 seconds then drops to 20% and stays there for 60-90 seconds, causing my entire system to become sluggish and jerky with significant keyboard and mouse lag. CPU consumption remains high even with LrC minimized. Here's a screenshot of CPU usage from Process Explorer for the LrC process: I checked driver versions and saw I was a bit out of date, so I upgraded to the latest available version. The problem persists and may actually be a bit worse. Note: This does NOT happen in Libray mode. Additional note: I had the flashing white screen issue after the update to 12.3, and had to disable the technology preview. However, I no longer see the Preferences/Technology Preview tab.

That "worked", except it seems my local CC was seriously behind. Before the reinstall I had 24.0 and CC told me the latest was 24.0.1. AFTER the reinstall I now have 24.4.1 Thanks

This just started happening. I have already logged out, quit CC, restarted CC and logged back in, with no effect. It shows LrC and CameraRaw in the "Installed" section but PS now appears in the "Available in your plan" section, with an (Install) button. I can run PS normally from the Windows start menu. Not sure if it's meaningful, but the currently installed version of PS is 24.0, but in CC under "Other versions" it lists 24.0.1 as the current version.

When I use LRC's facial recognition, I sometimes end up with several images of the same person whose name I do not yet know. I notice that sometimes LRC will create a stack of these unknowns if it finds two images it is highly confident are the same (as yet unknown) person. But often it shows each image separately. What I'd like to do is group all the unknowns that are actually the same person as a single stack, with name "?", so that when I determine the person's identity I have only one stack to rename instead of a bunch of individual images. Is this possible?

Can I get a response on this? It's becoming a serious issue. Here is some more info: According to Process Explorer, after LRC hangs during the import it is using about 0.20% CPU and doing about 1-2KB/sec (i.e. minimal) I/O occasionally, but zero I/O at least half the time. Memory usage is not changing. All the incoming files have been moved from the temporary disk directory into the catalog directory Of a total of 490 raw image files, it got as far as 236 before hanging. How do I get someone's attention for this bug?

LRC 11.3.1 Camera Raw 14.3 Windows 10 Pro X64 21H2 with all current updates Asus Z97WS motherboard, Intel i7-4790K (not overclocked), 32GB, 8TB RAID-6 data storage (5TB free) Since the update to 11 I've been experiencing difficulties if I try to import more than a couple of dozen files at a time. LR becomes unresponsive during the import. Sometimes I can cancel the import by clicking the red X in the progress bar, but usually I have to kill the process with Task Manager and re-launch. Some data points: All the files have been copied from the source media, but not all have been added to the catalog It makes no difference if I import directly from an SD card or first copy the files manually to a temp location on hard disk before importing After restarting, I can "synchronize": the folder into which I imported to add the "missing" files to the catalog. Sometimes I'll get a "preview missing" error message for one or more of the recently imported files. I can manually regenerate the Smart Previews. Is adobe aware of this problem, and is it being addressed?

I was able to import to a new catalog, but none of the keywords in the old catalog imported, and the default file location did not import either. That's not what I'd call a successful import. Since it's copying all the files, a workaround for now is to just come back later and synchronize, at which point it will import the missing photos. There needs to be a better import solution that will truly create a new valid catalog from one that may be corrupted, and preserve all the catalog data including keywords, file sequence numbers, etc.

I checked the catalog integrity (Alt during startup) and it checked out OK with no issues. I then rebooted and attempted the import again from hard disk (files copied manually from the SD card). This also hung at 255 files (from a total of 398). Here's the progress info. Note that this is misleading, as the "Move" is actually complete, only the catalog update is hung. If I look at the catalog directories that were created, I see ALL 398 files copied and renamed correctly. It appears it's only the catalog update that is hanging. Answers to your questions: The catalog is on an internal SATA SSD disk at T:\Catalog The import hangs regardless of whether the source is the SD card or a copy of the files from the SD card on an internal disk. The destination of the import is an internal disk (D:\Photo). Note that all the files are actually copied, it's just the catalog update that is hanging. I will try creating a new catalog and merging, and let you know if that fixes the issue.

First time it hung at 51 images; canceling the import took 5 minutes, and then catalog backup also hung and had to be killed. Subsequently LRC started OK and I immediately closed to do backup and catalog verify, which completed normally. Then attempted to import and this time it hung at 86 images (just stopped, no progressed). Was able to cancel the import (took 2 minutes to cancel this time), and restart again. To eliminate the SD card and USB interface I then downloaded all the images to a temp directory on disk and attempted the import from there. This time it got to 160 images and hung again. It is occasionally using a bit of CPU and doing a few hundred bytes to a few kbytes of I/O but nothing significant. What's going on?

I have no idea how to report this given Adobe's lack of any forums for webiste (Adobe's) issues. Every so often I get a barrage of emails (6 today so far) titled "Reset your Adobe ID Password". The emails originate at a valid Adobe server (I run an SMTP server so I know how to read headers). I've reported this via telephone before but it takes a long time to get through to anyone, and nothing seems to get fixed. Is this a symptom of someone 3rd party trying to hack into my account? Is anyone else seeing this? And yes, I've already changed my password directly from the website, not from the link in the email.

As usual, this is not reproducible. Lightroom seems to intermittently do something weird if there is an SD card in the reader at launch time. Pulling the card out and waiting until LRc is completely started before inserting it works fine, and after that it will work regardless of whether the card is in the reader. I expect this is some sort of race condition that will never be fixed.

After the latest update, LrCC is once again hanging on any attempt to invoke the "Import" function. The hang occurs 100% of the time and requires that the process be killed with TaskManager or Process Explorer. This makes LrCC completely useless. Lightroom also appears to be unable to close completely. Even after closing the app the Lightroom.exe process remains active and must be manually terminated.

I submitted a bug report and they reduced in frequency, but I still see these once or twice a week. I've checked out the headers (I have extensive experience with SMTP) and they look legit, all the hostnames and IP addresses from origin to destination check out. Is this some hacker spamming the "reset password" link in hopes of somehow getting access? Given: there are no suspicious IPs or hostnames anywhere in the headers; DKIM, DMARC and SPF all pass validation; the link is not clickable in the original email; and it does point to an Adobe server, I'm pretty sure this is not an attempt to exploit anything. That leaves a bug in Adobe's systems that "believe" I submitted a password reset request. Anybody else seeing this? Any idea how to get the attention of the right person at Adobe? I've attached a redacted copy of the headers in case anyone wants to examine them.

New installation of Windows 10 Pro x64 (1909). i7-4790K @4.00 GHz, 32GB memory, 3TB disk LR launches fine, and imported with no problems 2 days ago. Yesterday I installed a Logitech c930e webcam, and today, attempting to start an import produces the screen shown in the attachment (I blurred the folder listing). Killing the process by clicking the close X and telling Windows to close it leaves the .lrcat.lock file, which has to be manually deleted. I ran a catalog integrity check and didn't find any issues. Since the only change from 2 days ago was installation of the webcam, I disconnected it. Import now works. Lightroom should be able to ignore unusable input devices, so this is a bug that needs to be addressed. What is the best way to submit a bug report?

Yes, Jim, the file is, "in use' due to installed security or utility software. Our installations do not typically conflict with our own processes. Well, can you explain this: I have ZERO explorer windows open and only Microsoft's explorer.exe (the process that provides the desktop) is holding the file open. I suggest your developers look at this.

Next I closed CC Desktop and restarted it with "Run as Administrator" -- now the "Help/About Creative Cloud" menu item is grayed out, so I cannot tell what version is currently installed. WTF? Then I tried "Check for Updates" and it still says there is no update. Also the "About..." menu item returned, and it shows the same version installed as before all this started (5.1.0.407) So, is this the latest version? Why would it claim there's an update if there isn't?

My account has admin privileges so it should be able to apply those changes. The error for CoreSync_x64.dll clearly says "Error 32 The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" I was able to shutdown or kill all the processes that were holding CoreSync_x64.dll open and then tried the update again, but CC Desktop then claims there is no update.

Solution 2 fixed the issue with PS being shown as not installed, and it also showed a pending update for PS, which I allowed it to install. However, it also wanted to update CC itself, and that resulted in the same old Error Code 184 that's been happening for years when CC attempts to update itself.

Looks like Adobe finally fixed the CC desktop app's persistent hanging when trying to update itself. However, after the update, CC seems to have forgotten that Photoshop is installed. PS now apears in the "Available in your subscription" section, with an "Install" action, instead of the "Installed" section. I can still launch PS from its start menu icon, so this is just cosmetic, but glaring enough that you'd think it would show up in testing. Oh well...
