Thank you, I'll use PPro. I'm starting to learn about that, too, but I didn't make it to that lesson. thanks a lot for your help!

Yes, I guess I'm confused. Thank you both for replying, Gutterfish, Mylenium. I meant animated infographics. Not slides, that was just silly of me to say. For marketing, but also for story telling. For instance, showing the body and the different illnesses that can appear in different body parts. "Making the most out of Ae for marketing purposes" is vague, sure. I meant something along the same lines, using an animated infographic as described above to be run as a Facebook ad. Thank you both for being so kind and replying, even though my post was so vague and confused.

Hello, thanks for reading this and maybe answering I want to learn Ae for marketing. I intend to make animated slides. Is there a way to do voice over while I'm showing those animated graphics? I'm not trying to find out how to do that, only if it's possible. Also, does anyone have some tips on how to make the most out of Ae for marketing purposes? I'm trying to make sure I'm using the right tool (before I deep dive into Ae) Thanks Christian

They are not. It's just that they are masks, too. I did a poor job at explaining it but that's all I remembered. I posted this so that everyone knows I found what I was looking for. Unlike U2

In the meanwhile I found the video. It's also on lynda.com. It uses opacity masks. I guess it's somehow related to clipping masks I need to keep track of the videos better

There was a video about this by Mordy Golding, he used for sure a crosshatch rectangle, but I didn't see it on Lynda.com.

Thank you for replying, Monika. By "image" I mean a placed image (picture). I will be able to show something later. I had to select the placed image and also the crosshatched rectangle. It wasn't a swatch, so maybe it wasn't an actual pattern, just a rectangle that had a crosshatch fill. I guess I don't know how to reply to you, Monika, I don't have that option, that's why I'm replying to original question.

Hello I'm trying to apply a crosshatch pattern (or any pattern for that reason) to an image. The result should be a crosshatched image. Most likely there are several ways of applying a pattern to an image in Illustrator. I don't remember how they did that in the video I saw a while back (long story short, I might have not bookmarked it). I'm not looking for applying the pattern to an object, though. Please help me with that. Thanks a lot Cristian

Thanks for replying. I used image trace, but I was not happy with the results. Maybe I need to play with settings more. I'll experiment with it, thanks

Thank you for replying I didn't know about the plugins. That's a good tip, to break it down into pieces. It's also easier to work with, I think. Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply

Thank you for your reply, Yusuf. I'd like to stick to Photoshop, even if it's hard. I don't want another tool. The Photoshop actions I was mentioning (graphic river) are doing the job. But I'd like to see how.

Thank you, Dave, for the mini tutorial for both Vanishing Point and Perspective Warp. I haven't used either of them before (I used Photoshop so far primarily for cutting out pictures). Thank you for taking the time to put this together

Thank you for replying again and for the multitude of great points. I have a Lynda.com subscription. I'll take a look at Bert M's classes. I heard about him but never looked into his classes. Starting with Times Square then . Lots of great techniques in that course, I just took a look at it. The illustration of your wife is very nice, great job! LNP is a very fine tool, it seems. I have Astute (for Illustrator) but I''ll take a look at this, too. Thanks again for taking the time to give me a long answer. I really appreciate it. I see you're also an engineer. Did this help you in your illustration?

Hi, Monika. Thank you for replying. Yes, I want to transform photos into a pencil sketch. I'm bad with paper and pencil and I don't want to do that. So I'm wondering whether Illustrator or Photoshop is the tool to use.

Hello, I asked the same question in the Photoshop forum, and they recommended me to ask the question here, too. It's about getting into pencil sketches (primarily architecture). I want to learn how to do that. 1. I don't need a vector necessarily, should I do that in Photoshop (I've bought a few actions from graphicriver.com) or in Illustrator? I'm more comfortable with Illustrator, but the process seems to be easier to automate in Photoshop. 2. If it's easier to do that in Illustrator (assuming I have the right brushes), would I have to go over every single line? (I'm not thinking about tracing, only about placing the picture and then reconstructing the lines). Is there a way to automate the process, like Photoshop does? I'm attaching the action I used and that I'd like to understand how it works. Thanks a lot for reading this and maybe giving me an answer.

Thank you for your answer, TrevorDennis. I'm not good with drawing by hand. But I'll look into Perspective Warp. It seems it's very useful in architecture. What had in mind was to get a picture (like the picture of Equitable I was using in this case) and start form there. Given my bad drawing by hand, I don't think I'll be able to get good at it quickly without a picture underneath it.

Thanks a lot, Dave, I really appreciate that you not only replied, but also you sent me some screenshots. So from your perspective, Photoshop is the way to go? Since it seems not I can see clearly all the steps.

Is there a tutorial or anything like that? The action I want to learn how to do is very nice, but also very complex. I think it has a few hundred steps. Is there a way to print out the steps? (without having to make screenshots). Many of the steps are just copying layers, but it still very complex. 3. I'm trying to draw a straight line but using a tablet. It seems like "Sketching speed" and "Stylus pressure" don't work. I'm able to draw the straight line using "Option" but the line has the same width no matter what. Am I missing something? Or maybe I don't need Astute? (meaning Illustrator can do it alone) Thanks a lot Cristian
