Known issue 9/17: AI features, video tools and exports stalling or not completing

  • September 17, 2026

We're aware of an issue affecting several features in Adobe Express. If you're running into any of these, you're not alone and it's not something on your end:

  • Auto captions stalling partway (a lot of you are seeing it stick around 17%)
  • Clip Maker getting stuck while analyzing your video, then showing an "Unable to show status" error
  • Comic Creator not generating
  • Animated Video Maker not generating
  • Downloads and exports (PDF, PNG, MP4s, and others) hanging partway or not finishing
  • Remove Background may also be impacted

These all trace back to the same underlying service issue, which is why they're happening together. The team is already on it and working on a fix, and there's nothing to troubleshoot on your side.

If you're hitting this right now:

  • No need to restart the job or retry the download over and over, it won't push through until the fix lands
  • Best bet is to give it a bit and come back to it later - you can also subscribe to the status.adobe.com page to get updates on when the outage is resolved.

I'll update this thread as soon as it's cleared, thank you for your patience while the team works on this.

I’m unable to export a file I created from express.adobe.com as a PDF. I get a “Download failed. Please try again” error. Sometimes it appears as soon as I attempt to download the file; other times, the progress bar of the download gets to 90% and then displays the error before the download can actually start.

    Some pertinent details:

    • The Adobe Express file is a single page, RGB
    • I encounter this download error when exporting the file as a PDF-Standard, PDF-Print (RGB), and PDF-Print (CMYK)
    • I encounter this error on multiple computers on the latest versions of multiple browsers (with extensions disabled) logged in from both work and at home
    • I encounter this error when I try to download any of my files as PDF

I’m having the same issue, I cannot download a gif needed for a deadline

Videos stopped being able to download in Adobe ExpressI’ve edited and created a video project and am unable to download it, no matter what I do. I’ve duplicated, tried on different browsers, computers, icognito mode. I have tried it on my phone. I’ve cleared cache.

Now EVERY video project cannot be downloaded, not just the one I’ve been working on. Not sure what happened, but I worked on a video for 3 hours today for a deadline at 4pm EST and we are missing it. Completely unacceptable and obviously we are going to cancel our company’s adobe subscription after this (as we’ve had MANY issues before). But, before that happens, would still like to download this video I’ve worked hard on and need out today.

Hey @multitalented_codee384 - I moved your post to this megathread, as it’s an outage and the team is working as quickly as they can to resolve this.

First, I'm sorry. Missing a 4pm deadline after three hours of work is not fun, and I don't blame you for being done with it.

I won't send you trying things that won't work while it's down. The honest situation is that downloads aren't going to come through until the fix is in.

I'll post here the moment exports are working again. Your project and your work are safe, this is about getting the download path back, not anything lost on your end. And if your file still won't download once it's resolved, tell me directly and I'll get it immediate attention.

I know none of that undoes the deadline you already missed. I'm sorry it landed on you today.

    Hey @Farah5C9B,

There is a current outage - you can track it here: https://community.adobe.com/bug-reports-328/known-issue-9-17-ai-features-video-tools-and-exports-stalling-or-not-completing-1642492

But I see that you mentioned this is happening "lately" - as in perhaps not just today. Given that, if once the other outage has resolved, you're still having issues, please come back to this thread and update me so we can do some furthe troubleshooting. It is my hope that it gets resolved, but just in case!

Hi, thanks for the update! Adobe System Status says there is no issue with Adobe Express, but I still can’t generate captions. This time it won’t even say speech not detected. It will simply not do anything.

Hello! The outage is still happening - I do see it on the status page as well - see screenshot below:

Once it is resolved, we’ll have you try the captions again and then if you’re still seeing issues we can troubleshoot together further.

    Thanks for your patience!

Whenever I try to download the video, the download fail error pops up every time.

    I have tried:

    • Duplicating the project
    • Copying and pasting all project elements to a blank canvas to recreate the video
    • Deleting individual elements and attempting to download without each one
    • Switched devices (started on Windows PC and tried on iPad, no luck)
    • Splitting the video in half and trying to download segments
    • Exporting to Google Drive
    • Changing video export resolution
    • Screen recording (the videos within my video pause when I do this)

I am at a loss. It is a relatively simple, 17 second video and I have never had this issue before with Express. Can someone please help me be able to download this project?

Lately, when I try to generate captions on Adobe Express, it says speech not detected. I’ve done everything, cleared cache, tried a new browser, removed any music or sound effects, so it’s one video’s audio. Nothing works. Have had to pivot to Premiere Pro.

I am also having problems downloading some pages with what should be fairly simple animations.

I’m on Mac OS, tried downloading via Chrome as well as the desktop app. The pages are 3841x2161. The animations are akin to simple powerpoint style text animations.

I have tried downloading at 720p, 1080p and 4k with no luck. Tried sharing to Google Drive and the rendering crashed. Tried stripping out most but not all of the animations and it did nothing.

If the platform isn’t able to render at this size, why is it an option to create them?

I can't download a PDF I created in Adobe Express. It is only one page with text. I keep getting "error occurred while downloading..." or is freezes at 90%

I’m trying to download a 1 page PDF from Adobe Express. I’m having a problem downloading all docs I’ve made on Adobe Express. They are simple docs with just text. It keeps freezing at 90% or I get this error:
