Metadata from imported new files, like JPEGS, is completely blank in Adobe Bridge

I have files that I'm importing to my desktop from a USB and they were even keyworded on a different device. All the metatdata information apprears in the details pane of Windows Explorer, but in Adobe Bridge these new files are a blank slate for the metadata; even Creation Date and Modification Date. I can still add new keywords and such, but no former details exist in Bridge.

Is there something wrong here? Am I just not understanding how something works?
