When using a type/text area in PS my keyboard arrow key's sometimes just stop working. There's just no more feedback and I have to restart PS to 'fix' the problem. This is a very annoying bug which really degrades my productivity!

Please help!

I know 100% it is not a problem with browsers. We do have another machine in the studio and when we installed a custom font (Helvetica Neue Pro LT), it started having issues with the cursor keys like my machine. We uninstalled that font thinking we cracked the problem, but the problem persisted on that machine, which never had the cursor issues before. Something weird going on, now both machines have same issue with cursors and delete not working sometimes when editing text in paragraph text layers. I'll try turning off the GPU as above and work today then post again, standby.

How about if you turn GPU off in preferences?
Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > restart application.

To confirm this thought, I just got the problem while Chrome was open. I closed Chrome and went back to the paragraph text area in PS (while it was still in "edit" mode) and the issue had disappeared.

I never use Safari, so doubt it's linked to it specifically but maybe it's more of a general webkit thing as I use Chrome.

Hey All-

I think someone had mentioned this before, but if you are experiencing this arrow/delete key issue and you quit and relaunch Safari, it fixes the problem.

Very strange, but that is how I have fixed it. Will tell you how long it lasts if I find out.

Cheers. JC

I have a wired keyboard USB and wireless Magic Mouse. No tablet drivers or anything like that. Let me try a range of tests tonight and report back.

Alright, so it could be something outside photoshop (another app, a driver, a system setting), or something specific to your system (a font, a preference, etc.) causing this.
Quitting all other apps is an easy test.
But it's harder to narrow down drivers: do you have any additional hardware (tablet, third party keyboard, wireless mouse, etc.)?
Have you added fonts to the system beyond what comes with the OS and apps?
