P: Blank home screen, no recent files - EVERY 3 DAYS for over a year!

Hi - I have had enough now. Seriously. My recent files and home screen are blank (missing recent files) every single 3 days, like clockwork FOR OVER A YEAR!  I am practically demented now trying to ofix this permanently. Renaming UXP folders to either .old or ~UXP - does not work as a permanent fix. I cannot be expected to rename these folders every 3 days.

I have had an agent remotely access my PC and he just did the same thing, renamed folders. I have used the Adobe clean-up tool, uninstalling Photoshop repeatedly, downloading again etc. Nothing is worklng.

I do not use the Cloud to save my work, only specific folders on my PC (windows 11)

There has to be a permanent fix for this, it has been going on for over a year like this and is driving me insane.

Please help with a permanent fix.

My preferences are correctly set up. I am always updated to latest version.

My recent files simply disappear from  the list under "Recent Files" and on the home screen when opening PS up each day. Everey 3 days like clockwork. It has to be fixed. Aaaaarrrrgghhh........

Hello...I have not heard from ayone since June 26th, when I shared my logs so it could be looked into, no one has responded.

Its about to be July 9th in the next hour, thats a long wait without a solution on top of the most frustrating year already had.

This issue is ongoing and I am beyond my tether now, its absolutely maddening.

My home screen is devoid of my recent files, every few days like clockwork, no matter what 'fix' I try.

My PS version is always the latest. My recent files were there yesterday, today they are not.

I do the usual runaround, none of which work permanently.

Please will someone assist in providing a permanent fix?

I do not save any work on the cloud, all my work is on my comuter.

Somehow my preferences are being ignored; wherein my pref to show recent files on home screen and even another pref of create new layer when brushing, doesnt work, then it does, then it doesnt.

I have used the Adobe Cleaner tool countless times, uninstalled, reinstalled, done everything Adobe and countless others suggest, by renaming files or folders etc etc etc...nothing fixes this permanently.

Please will someone help?

Thank you

🙂

Hey @lornas79690833,

Thank you for your patience, and I’m sorry for the delay in our response. The team is actively investigating this issue and have logged a bug for it.

So far, they haven’t been able to reproduce the problem in-house. If that continues, we may need to seek more information to help narrow down the cause.

We appreciate your help and will keep you updated as we learn more!

I know that people had this issue in the past but it was so long ago and apparently it still persists, which is unacceptable for a product which costs this much money.

I've been using the Suite for almost 4 months and sometimes when I open PS I don't see the recent files in the home screen, or in the File > Open Recent option. They are empty.

The files are on the local drive, the same drive where PS is installed and they are still stored in the same location. I literally saved my work on the files, closed the program, then traveled from work to home and opened it at home. Since I'm used to working on several files at once due to the nature of my project, locating them and opening them by hand is tedious and nearly infuriating.

I'm using Windows 11 on a brand new laptop and PS version 26.9.0.

@lornas79690833, please share the logs using a Google or Dropbox link. Alternatively, you can send them to me directly, and I will forward them to @Aswath5FCE.

There is no upload option, I found this on a search:

If Adobe Support requests the log files, they will likely provide instructions on how to share them (e.g., attaching them to an email, using a file sharing service, etc.

So could you please provide details of how to get this done please?

Thanks 🙂

Hi and thanks for helping me.

File: AdobeLogs_20250625_095730_912-win-GS.zxp

That is the log file taken shortly after opening PS today where no recent files are displayed and the menu option of Recent Files is greyed out and empty. Also screenshot of such herewith.

Thank you for your help. I cant stand this happening any longer. I am tired of having to go and delete folders, rename folders, uininstall PS, reinstall PS, chat to agents who cut me off, chat to agents who remotely connect and do exactly as I do,  etc etc. Nothing helps as a permanent fix. Every 3 days, my recent files disappear from the opening home screen and menu option.

Could you email me all further comms in this regard so as not to bother other members anymore with this issue? My email is on my account.

Thanks so much.

Hi and thank you for your input and help. Apologies for my delay in responding but even though I have "Email me when someone replies" ticked, I was not emailed or informed.

I always update my Photoshop and Camera Raw as soon as notified there are updates available, and am currently on version 26.8.0 as of today.

How many updates have we had in the past year, and this has been consistently happening throughout all of them, its over a year this has happened, every 3 days like clockwork.

I have run the Adobe CleanUp tool given to me by one of the many agents I have tried to get help from. Same thing. Fine for 2 days, 3rd day...gone.

Nothing even in "Recent Files" in the top left menu. Folder is greyed out and list is blank like there's been no work done.

I work every day, and most often through the night too, and its just quicker for me to select one of my works in the home screen, and have always done so since I have been using PS its never been a problem until approx a year or more ago.

I started using PS in 1998 so am very used to it...except this. I have tried absolutely everything.

Renaming folders as per Adobe advice from using .old to ~uxp...neither fixes it permanently.

Agent remotely connected and all he did was rename folders, another agent recently told me to sign in as administrator and see if it continued happening, but that just took me to a godawful windows/microsoft screen with a load of trending microsoft rubbish on it and it would not find photoshop anywhere, he never contacted me again having been cut off when he told me to connect as admin. I am aftraid the agents are well-meaning but their knowledge base for this issue is very poor.

I have reset my preferences multiple times over this past year, using Adobe's steps. I have uninstalled the entire app, deleted all files and folders, started from scratch again and again and again.

As I say, everything is fine and dandy....but only for 2-3 days then recent files disappear from the screen as well as the menu list.

I have loads and loads of memory:

Built-in memory: 32684 MB
Free memory: 24543 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 25123 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 82 %

Herewith my system info as requested:  (Dont know how much of it you need, its pretty long-winded, I have pasted the top section, if more is required, please let me know)
