P: Can't save changes to the Adobe Photoshop document "" before quitting

I have recently installed Photoshop CC 2017.1 on a brand new computer.
Everything seems to be working fine until I try to close Photoshop at the end of a session.
I get the message "save changes to the Adobe Photoshop document "" before quitting"
I tried to save the non existant document and now get a message telling me that the document is being saved in the background, Photoshop will quit after saving has completed.
This seems to take forever to complete.
I tried creating a new file 100px X100px and tried to save it and now see the
Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 has stopped working message.
Upon restarting Photoshop it seems to work as expected and closed down properly.
This is the third time today I have had this problem so it seems like time to see if anyone can offer some help

OK Thanks Jaroslav. It's an impressive list!!! May I ask if you have downgraded yourself? Have you experienced this problem and solved it?

Here is list of possible problems with downgrade: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/whats-new.html#main-pars_header_1366862642 (April 2017)

I am 90 % sure that this problem is related to this version. This topic was created few days after new version.

Thanks for the suggestion Jaroslav...but are we sure the problem lies with version 2017.1? And what other problems might arise if we downgrade?

Sorry, How do I downgrade? Is there a link with instructions?

If you have problems, you could downgrade from 2017.1 to 2017.0.1 until Adobe fix this bug.

I have exactly the same problem. I'm using Photoshop 2017.1.0 on Windows 10. At the end of a session when I come to close down I get the message shown by Daryl above. Every time I try to close it it just reappears. This has started happening just recently. Maybe in the last few weeks. Very irksome!

I went into preferences - File Handling and unchecked "Save in Background" and Automatically save Recovery Information Every".  I still have the same dialog box pop up, however when I click on "No" I'm able to quit the program without having to force a quit using Cntrl alt Delete.

I'm having the exact same problem. Does this have to do with the most recent Photoshop update?
