P: Convert to Video Timeline option missing - Apple M1 devices

I am not able to select anything but "Create Frame Animation" in the Timeline. I am trying to create a Video Timeline, but not using Frame animation. This option isn't in the bottom left or top right of the Timeline menu.

I have tried resetting my preferences, uninstalling and re-installing, creating a new document, and converting all layers to smart objects, and none of those have worked. I have a macbook pro with macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3 with an Apple M1 chip.

Thank you for the help!

Hello,  I have Photoshop 23.0.1 on my Macbook Pro(Apple M1 Pro) macOS Monterey 12.0.1

Impossible to open mp4 or mov . A message appear:  COULD NOT COMPLETE YOUR REQUEST BECAUSE PHOTOSHOP DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS TYPE OF FILE.

So how to import video inside my photoshop?

@Kamila KG via Rosetta emulation, as explained in the previously posted link:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-for-apple-silicon.html

Sadly, no one wants that - they would like to see it back in M1 native. Who wants to keep going back and forth with versions.

It's been a year now and no fix!!! We use this tool daily for work. We need the video timeline and the render video fixed. Don't post about how to do it with intel based or downgrade your version I already know that. Adobe needs to fix the issue

What a joke. I cant even open v22.0 on my new macbook m1 to work in the timeline. this sucks so bad and it'll be another year before its fixed probably. instead of rushing out new version after new version just make sure the ones you put out are doing the bare minimum

Hey there,

every time i try to upload a video into photoshop it shows a pop up window, that Photoshop doensn't know the type of data that I am trying to upload. I tried multiple different types of videos (.mov and .mp4) some that I rendered in Illustrator, some from different platforms and the problem occurs every time. I can play the videos in Quicktime player and Vlc player though. I also have Rosetta installed, since I am using a mac with a M1 Chip and checked all the checkmarks in Privacy, since I read this in another post on here.

I really have no Idea what else to try hopefully someone on here can help me!

You say you have Rosetta installed, but have you opened Photoshop using Rosetta?

Since it didn't open up automatically when I opened Photoshop I installed it through the Terminal. Shouldn't it work automatically then? Or do I have to do something else?

I typed in  : softwareupdate --install-rosetta

And it said that it installed successfully.

Thank you for your Help!
